Well, when it comes to the atmosphere of the world, I guess it gets hard to tell whether you'll like it or not. I liked Oblivion for being so vibrant and colorful and magical, and I loved Fallout's atmosphere for being so bleak and depressing and wastelandy. Skyrim is a lot like Oblivion in that it is colorful, focused on the beauty of landscapes, mountains. It's very adventurey, which is similar to Oblivion. But contrary to Oblivion, Skyrim also has this rugged feeling. It has that "viking" air about it almost everywhere, and it definitely makes it feel different. Also inns and cities are amazing in my opinion because some of them really do have the feeling of a cozy little village. Especially in the inns.

Well if there's anything bad about the game, it'd be the interface and some problems that some PC users are currently having.

And yeah, Skyrim takes place like 200 years after Oblivion, so all you miss out is a vague reference to "the Oblivion Crysis" every now and then.
