      anyone else like nightmares?

I didn't like them as a kid but that said, the dreams I remember from when I was little were all nightmares and I'm glad I have those memories. Also, my first lucid stemmed from a nightmare which was pretty awesome.

I don't have many "nightmares" anymore but every now and then I'll have a dream like some horror film and I'll wake up sweaty and with my heart racing, thinking it was actually pretty cool even though I was terrified just seconds before.

The only dreams I actually fear are the ones like a RL day gone horribly wrong with all the people I loathe bothering me.

Nightmares are usually immersive, creative, with unique atmospheres. I can imagine enjoying them afterward for that reason.

"raises hand" They are just so amazing and fun, after waking up it is really nice to think again about the dream.

YES, YES YES YES. I actually love any kind of dream, the awesome thing about nightmares is that they are always interesting, and i fear nothing about nightmares, it is so immersive, i dont know if i actually like the nightmare while i am having it, but i love the rush that i feel and i remember when i wake up. I am always looking up for excitement, lol.
I prefer Nightmares over normal and boring dreams, anyway, almost all of my dreams that i am remembering are somehow related to nightmares, because of the dark aspects of the dreams.
As a kid i had shitload of nightmares and i was freaking afraid of them, now i know they are all super harmless, i love them, it is like playing a scary videogame, the difference is it feels much more real and you cant coward out of a nightmare as easy as you do in a videogame xD

I'm not sure how much I like nightmares, but I know I don't hate them. After something kills me I can usually laugh at my own death later. My first and most of my lucid dreams came from nightmares, so I'm forced to like them.

Ever press the "pause" button and then "quit game" while in a dream? I've done this before and it worked great.

^ No, i havent, otherwise it wouldnt have been so real, lol.
Btw, i have never died in a dream, lol, i dont see that even being possible xD
most of my dreams i guess are that real, because otherwise if i pause it or something, i am more likely to realize it is a dream , haha

I like them occassionally, for the fact they seem to be more vivid and exhilarating.

This. I enjoy the intensity of the 'experience'. When I'm feeling REALLY particular, I'll use the phrase 'Horror-Themed Dreams' or some such because 'Nightmare' has the implication of something that isn't enjoyable.

Well.. The thing is, from the day i had my first lucid dream, i haven't had ANY nightmares !
And my explanation on that is :
My brain, doesn't give me nightmares, because it knows, that if i have a nightmare, i will instantly get lucid.. -_- (my brain hates me xD) . So INSTEAD, i dream of everyday stuff.. like going to school, going back from school, washing my teeth, ect.. -_- .. So its really harder to get lucid, you need to be paranoid >.>' ..
-And yes, gaming really improved my lucid dreaming. When i fly of to space, or somewhere, and if i cant get back, i open a "console" and type Home , and i get to the place i left of ... Its really useful

Lol i hear that. Cant remember the amount of times ive died in the dream > open the menu > loaded a previous save. Too much elder scrolls me thinks.
I also rarely get scared of dreams anymore, I think ive just come to terms with it all being in my head. There are the occasional ones where I actually believe whats happening is happening though.

ShadowOfSelf I've played quite a bit of Elders scrolls, but that hasn't happened to me.
Well nightmares are usually pretty cool experiences afterwards, but sometimes they're too much for me.
So my answer is propably: yes, but the really disturbing ones usually stay in my mind for a couple of days.
Like in one of my dreams: one guy just screamed in agony and then exploded. So much gore and blood, well that wasn't the most disturbing one.
      Lucid dreaming since September 2011!!!
Lucid goals: Jumping out of a car going at high speed and crashing into an oncoming car, completely destroying the car, leaving me unharmed. [ ],
      Visiting moon [x], Proper flying [x], Stabilizing an LD perfectly [x], Shoot lightning/lasers out of my fingers [x], Shapeshifting [ ], Fly a helicopter [ ], TOTY 2013 [ ], Change dreamscene [x].
      Lucids: 16 crappy, 15 good, 5 awesome.

I guess I play it too much then -_- happened a few times. Not long ago I had a vivid dream of settling down with my dream wife and having kids in a brand new house. Only to have a dragon rip the roof off and burn everyone alive. Thats when I loaded a previous save lol, I ran to another city before the dragon came - hoping that once I entered the city my wife and kids would spawn next to me. LOL. They didnt, I was traumatized. My wife was hot.

I hate using the term "nightmare" too. A nightmare, to me, is usually something revolving around a possible RL bad experience- a divorce, one of my kids getting sick or dying, car accidents etc. It's more about emotional trauma and a scare factor.

I LOVE scary dreams. Fighting hordes of zombies is the best
I've died in my dreams countless times. Usually dying just wakes me up (I realize, "Oh I'm dead" then I become lucid which wakes me up).

I wonder how much modern entertainment has changed dreaming. I play a lot of video games and watch a lot of shows/movies and within the last few months I've noticed I "rewind" my dreams more often. But it's more like loading a previous save! One minute I'll be like "Crap, that didn't turn out so well," so I go back to an earlier point within the dream and try a different course.

I find liking nightmares totally perverted personally (unless you make them into a nice LD).

perverted? "Deviating from what is considered right and correct"
lol, well, if you think that it is because we like the grimdark nightmares for what they are, that isnt really it. It is more like liking the adrenaline of being shitless scared, that is mostly enjoyable when one woke up already
if you are talking about something else, please explain because i dont see how it is perverted xP

Nightmares are the best dreams because they're the most intense... They always stick with you a lot longer than normal dreams. Even if I'm terrified by one, it's totally worth it for the awesome experience.

Intense dreams are fun but a lot of my nightmares are not fun at all, just fucked up and twisted. I don't even consider a dream with a monster to be a nightmare, just a battle. An example of a dream I'd call a nightmare would be killing your whole family in some weird accident and thinking you really did it or getting paralyzed.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

This. I am not one to seek out such dangerous adreneline rushes IRL but it's an awesome feeling to get from a dream where you're safe

@Omnis, yeah, a dream about killing your family would be horrible. Nightmares like that aren't fun but I don't tend to have those thankfully.

The only time I have actually liked being terrified by a real nightmare is when I am really depressed in real life. Like during finals, and I realize that essays are not so bad when the alternative is zombies. Or when you begin to feel apathetic towards life, and suddenly you have a crazy nightmare and you appreciate life. You are mad at your parents over some stupid issue and then suddenly you want to give them a big hug! You realize that your stupid daily fears are 100 times tamer than your nightmares.

It is not nice to dream of rolling over in bed and finding my self face to face with a horrible disfigured corps and then wake up in my dark bedroom terrified that i might might still be dreaming and that something scary will jump out of my closet.

Lol, i did dream shit like that when i was a kid XD so now nothing is really disturbing instead enjoyable, lol. Well, more like my family was somehow dead but not because of me, haha. Getting paralyzed isnt that bad.
