      Why do you lucid dream?

Well obviously we are all here because we want to learn more about lucid dreaming and how we can do it ourselves.

But what is your reason? do you want to fly? do you want to make out with a super hot movie star?

Personally I want to lucid dream(not quite there yet but i'm working at it ) because I want to put myself in the time of ancient Rome where the Colosseum is located as a gladiator fighting as the crowd is screaming and cheering. Haha awesome oh and I also want to be part of a sieging of a castle during the middle ages.

Post your reasons i'm curious to see what other want to do.

I love lucid dreaming because it basically ties in everything I like. Very mind expanding and hell, who doesnt want to fly? I still havent had a fully lucid dream, but I can tell my deamenor thoughout the day is alot better over the last 2 weeks. Think all the meditation, eating better, stopping smoking that I have been doing is all tied in too of course, but I wouldnt have done those things had it not been for lucid dreaming. Sleep schedule is better than ever, hell Im doing great and I havent even started

Well, we spend a third of our life sleeping. Why let it go to waste?

Plus, its a phenomenon that ANYBODY can do. No having to go out and buy an expensive kit. No need for drugs.

You can do ANYTHING you want. It's fun trying to take control of dreams too, it's like trying to learn to walk again.

I have just always been able to since I can remember. I started lucid dreaming when I was super young...like around 5. I would love to be able to have more control over my dreams if that is possible. Flying and jumping super high are something I like to do, or just do crazy off the wall stuff in front of people that I would NEVER do in real life haha!!

I totally agree with you. I use to hate going to sleep because I wanted to stay awake doing other things but when I found this site and researched about all the things I could do, I soooo look forward to sleeping.

I initially got into lucid dreaming because I realized how fun it could be.

I currently lucid dream because it's essentially the same thing as waking life, except with a much greater degree of control. It's easier to experience what you want to from within a lucid dream than in waking life. I also use lucid dreams for personal growth.

Lucid dreaming taught me to consider everything to be an experience, and nothing more. In the same way that we can manipulate our environments and emotions from within a lucid dream, we can easily manipulate our course of life, perspectives, and personality in waking life if we choose to. One's life can be easily directed and chosen, as opposed to leaving it to fate to decide.

I also expect to learn much more from lucid dreaming, since I just barely got into it a few months ago.

In short, lucid dreaming is simply awesome. It's even better than sliced bread.

I love knowing that when I enter my dream anything could happen, my mind never ceases to surprise me with weird and wonderful things and it makes for a really good break from day to day life and lucid dreaming helps me to make them more real and sometimes more interesting.

Well, my main goal is/was to beat up some nightmare monsters and get less nightmares, because I had plenty. But I changed this by changing the food I eat before going to bed. I don't get that many nightmares anymore. (Although they aren't gone.)

So I would say: Fighting nightmares and usual awesomeness of lucid dreaming.
      Lucid dreaming goals:

Fly( ) Tame a recurring wolf that has been in about 10 different dreams/nightmares ( ) Fly on a Night Fury from HTTYD ( ) Ask my subconscious why I have so many nightmares ( )
Fight agent Smith ( ) Ride a huge spider to a battle against a beenest ( ) Face all of my nightmare creatures and beat them ( ) Be a god ( )

That's a funny question since I guess most of the time I'm wondering why people DON'T lucid dream. I'd say its simply the endless possibilities of being able to do anything you can imagine, that seems like the initial reason.

But if you dip in a little further, as I'm sure many experienced lucid dreamers on here can tell you, it's interesting what effect it can have on your waking life. It's inspired me in so many ways creatively and artistically, it's helped me solve problems of my daily life, and just having a more aware consciousness both asleep and awake. In a way it brings balance, to the chaos that daily life can bring, it's a place to escape and find peace of mind.

Well that, or just the fact that flying is fucking awesome.

      To escape the real world.
To experience things that I probably never could/will in real life.
It's like my own little world, where you are the god, it's pretty cool

Basically because I'm really into history, and I want to use Lucid Dreaming to travel back to those times which I've studied and been absorbed with for hours on end. I mean, who wouldn't want to meet Ghengis Khan over a friendly cup of tea? Mathius, your goals are really awesome

To make use of my sleeping life. It's pretty worthless without at least trying to remember your dreams.

It's free and once you're lucid you can do anything you want!

      1) It's exciting and fun
      2) I want to use it to interact with my subconscious and maybe figure things out about myself
      3) As a creative outlet, to make me feel better, more powerful, etc. and for that to perhaps transfer over to real life
      4) To practice things I want to get good at in real life
      (2-4 are sort of similar)

Besides the usual reasons... I want to ask my subconscious some things and recall past DCs to ask what they mean.

Adventure, whether they're memories from your past or sceneries your complex mind imagined for you.
