I was having lucid dreams before I even knew what they were. But after joining the site, it probably took a week or two.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

after a year of trying, I got my first one last night, although it was only during the fading of the dream that I truly became lucid

yeah, but I wasnt trying my hardest, I stopped for about 4-5 months but then I went back to doing Techniques. All I did last night was a WBTB, and bam.

I also sort of took a year. I Didn't know what lucid dreaming was, I was just trying to remember when I was dreaming that I could control it. After I joined this site and started doing RC and ADA it took me a few weeks to get my first lucid. I had four in a two week period, and then haven't had any in almost four weeks :/ but I also slacked off on the RD and ADA.

I've been trying since the start of January (when I first joined the site), but really upped the anti the last week or two, which paid off last night! It was extremely brief as the euphoria I got from the excitement woke me up. Over the last few weeks I've remembered to reality check on average once or twice an hour, which is what I'd say is the reason for my success.

      It varies a whole lot.

For example, it took me months to have my first lucid dream because I half-assed it, but my cousin had a lucid dream literally minutes after she heard about Lucid dreaming. (we were on a road trip and I told her about lucid dreaming in the car. She took a nap directly afterwards and had a lucid dream)

Really, it depends on how much effort you put into it, and how good you are naturally.

When most people make signatures, they put some inspirational quote, or a piece of advice, or a hilarious joke. But me, no I just put a dancing happy face on my signature. Cause that's how I roll.

About half a year for my first less then satisfying, barely lucid, dream. Still waiting for a lucid dream that i don't forget about my lucidity in about ten seconds. =/

My first lucid dream was back when I didn't even knew what it was, I was about 8-12 years old at the time.
Its quite ironic actually, the only thing back then I wanted to do was wake up, so I went around asking all the DCs I came across if they knew how I could wake myself, but none of them knew. It was a extremely long vivid lucid dream that I still remember very well even after this many years (I'm 20 now).

Many years later I joined this site and had my first intentional lucid dream about 1 or 2 weeks after joining.

*edit* Wow, after reading my own post I remembered another lucid dream from back when I was around 8-12 years old. I knew it was a dream, and I was at a train station so I thought that if I waited on the tracks for the train to come I would be killed and instantly woken up, at the last moment I chickened out though

I had a few before I knew what they were, and they were all within the span of a month or so. Once I learned what they were and started to try to have them (about a week ago) I've had one, and that was two days ago. Sadly i was too excited and and woke up the moment I realized I was dreaming. All the other times I didn't know that it was possible that I could control stuff so I didn't take advantage of it.

Oddly enough, the first day I joined this site. I got lucid while trying to crack my knuckles and ended up pulling a finger off.

I had my first lucid after 4 months. I think it also depends on your age, the younger you are the easiest it is.

I had my first one within the first week and my second one to two weeks after that. I think it depends on a variety of things, such as how much you really want it and how much you do your technique in a day.

I think I used to have fairly regular semi-lucid dreams when I was around 7 or 8 years old. I would have recurring dreams where I was in class but would feel very tired and lethargic. I had immense feelings of relief at realising it was all a dream and would simply put my head on the desk and go to sleep.

I had my first lucid dream after 2 months when I didn’t know what they were. It was a wonderful experience for me.
