If I were going to start a habit of reality checking, I would remind myself to do it in situations where I have something to read nearby, because when I'm dreaming text never stays the same when I look back at it.
I think it was Stephen Laberge who originated the technique. It turns out that it can be harder than you think... When a friend and I tried it we always ended up realizing at the end of the day that we forgot to RC so many times. We quickly got better at it and it seems if you make a point to do it every single time you pass through a doorway, you begin to train your awareness so that it is strong enough to catch the moment that you are in a dream. I definitely recommend it!
