      Academy Drawings

Okay, apparently the two older posts/threads I started on the Project:Enhasa Academy and the concept of creating a location in LDs that had been pre-designed in waking reality were lost when the server went down, or got deleted, or something.
Either way, I'm bringing the topic back up again, since it seemed that at least a few people were interested, and there was a request for my (lame) sketches of the Academy. Does anybody still want to see those?

It must have been lost in the crash. Lots of posts were lost.

      Okay, here we go. (finally.)
      Round one.

The main construction of the Academy, that is, the main building, I'm still a little too vague on to draw.
The building, however is surrounded by two rings of pillars, with a stone ring on top of each circling the building about 50-100 feet above ground. The rings are connected at set intervals. The rings both have a trough cut into them, and the outside one is deeper than the one inside. The outside one also has water in the trough.
      http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...ndpillars2.jpg
      http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...andpillars.jpg

The sparing arenas are like mini-academy-rings. One ring, with pillars. the medium (or maybe small, now that I think about it) has eight pillars and is twenty-or-so feet tall. The base, regardless of size, is stone tiles, and the tiles are larger or smaller depending on the size of the ring, as are the pillars.

      [birds-eye-view]
      http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...paringring.jpg
      http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...oorpillars.jpg

The doors are pretty well pictured in the drawing. Notice, though, the note (hah. cute phrasing) I wrote to the right of the drawing. The doors are operated by will, and are (heck, the whole academy is) size-changing, depending on how big you are in your dream. (ex.: a mecca or a human)

Now, is the purpose of the academy to train with other dreamers, or with projections?

Well, it's not necessarily a mutual-dreamers type place, but that would be the pinnacle of it's existence, that is, if lots of LD-ers could meet there. As it is, it's really up to the dreamer for what to do there. Training in dream powers is what I intend to do there, but the sparing arenas/rings wouldn't necessarily be just for one person and a dream construct...
As for projection, what do you define that as? (I take it you mean astral projection, but I've never been able to pinpoint what people here on DV mean by that.)

Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week; you have a schedule, a calendar... Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures.

No no no no nooo... Subconscious projections, e.g. DC's, basically anything that the dreamer creates in his dream world is a projection. Where as having multiple dreamers there... well... wouldn't
I think that you should work on this, give it a whole lot of visualization to really concrete it in your mind. If you have the abilities to really convey your thoughts into drawing where other people can use it, then that would be awesome. Like another person said to me. "According to the laws of physics, if more than one person experiences it, (in this case, your academy) then it becomes a reality. In other words, if you and someone else are able to travel to this place, it becomes a set location in the world, a place that can be travelled to. Which would be freaking awesome!

Oh, I'm on it. And I get your use of the term projection, though I've always used 'materialization', whether it is a pebble or a mountain.
Odd that I'd say that, since I don't even have lucid dreams. (yet )
Nevertheless, I find myself in a respectable and productive position to be planning what I'll do in advance.
      Yay me!

Well, now. I'm really starting to like making these lousy drawings.
Currently I'm working on drawing the gate from a birds-eye view (so you can see the tiles), a very high birds-eye view of the whole academy building, the interior proper, and profile views of the four sides. Actually, the front, back and A side, since both sides are the same.
Also, don't worry about the place needing solidifying in my mind, 'cause I make up things in a similar way to how Mozart made up music: all at once. Or in this case, one pre-solidified section at a time. Go figure.
      New scans coming soon!

Can't wait. I'll be looking forward to this. Visualize it alot to concrete it in your mind. Like a wise LDer once told me. "The more you visualize it, the more chance that you'll end up there when you dream." And if/when you do, then you'll know that your dreaming.

GAAAHHH! Every time I think "I'm just going to go to the [censored] library and upload the [censored] sketch of the Academy, and it'll actually [censored]-ly be on Dreamviews" guess what? I grab my Project:Enhasa notebook and go to the "[censored] library" (which is actually a really nice place). Upon getting there, I realize... it's paper. Paper, my dear Elliot, does not get read by a USB port very easily.
      GAAAHHH! That's THREE TIMES NOW!
Anyways, last night when I was awakened from my (sadly) dreamless sleep by a storm the likes of which I haven't seen in a LONG time, I drew out the floor-plans for the first floor of the Academy, as well as the stone road-et that leads up to it. Somehow, though, the top of the Academy just isn't solidifying in my imagination, BUT I WILL GET IT DOWN, [censored][censored][censored][censored][censored]!!!
      And now I'm doing a larger-scale re-draw.
Oh yeah! I almost forgot: I'm using graph paper now, which means the crookedness and smashed perspective should be considerably less of a problem. On top of THAT, when i went to measure out real-life rooms to parallel the ones in the Academy, all of my measurements, as well as my perspective could tell, broke down into integers of 5 or 2.5 feet.
      Well, now, that's convenient.
I'll get those (much-better-than-the-peice-of-[censored]-last-time) drawings up, stat.

      'till then

You don't have to be lucid to share dreams! Happy day! ^.^ (It does help though! Maybe try WILDing)

      P.S. The library doesn't have a scanner?!?

      Not my library, at least.
And yes, this time I left the [censored] USB flash stick in the computer after scanning. [Censored] me.

Well, after failing miserably at drawing the Academy from a ground view, I finished up this floor plan, and am almost finished with the bigger, more detailed version, which will have the Rings, but I need a compass. And I don't feel like making one right now.
      Here 'ya go:
      http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...nt1wlegend.jpg
Also, SilverStream, a fellow dreamer (not on DV, as of yet) drew me this design that I immediately decided was a stain-glass window.
      http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...17/window1.jpg

      On a side note...
As I was mentally 'walking' around in the Academy last night, I noticed that if you stand in the entry hall, facing the foyer, the light on the large hall comes from above and toward you, as if there were skylights between you and the foyer, high up on the wall of the main hall. But, as you will see when I get done with the side drawing, that wall has a whole room between it and daylight. Whaa??? Nnth. I'll figure it out eventually.

So you visited the academy and came up with this floorplan?
because this is looking eerily familiar . . .

It was the fourth dream in my shared dreaming attempt, with dragons and knights and what not
This is what the Great Hall from that dream looked like
pretty much verbatim! except i didnt notice the doors to the class rooms

Well........ I have been told that I have a strong mind-pattern.
Either way. this is actually the whole first floor. Could you send me a private message describing the place in more detail?
I didn't actually visit the place at all, 'cause I haven't had any dreams with it or lucid dreams to create it in. What I do is I imagine a view that I have solidified in my mind, and then I 'walk' around 'in' the Academy (or anywhere for that matter), and I can see what it looks like, or solidify it when it's not clear. Which lead me into my next post...

      NEWS FLASH: I Fail.

Well, to explain that, I'll start with the next floor-plan image:
      http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...w17/floor2.jpg
And continue to say that I'm way off.
First of all, the rounded protruding sides on the outside are a little too small. You see, the basic shape of the Academy is a square, which accounts for the corners, but then there are the bulges, changing the shape. To be honest, this is negligible problem, so I'll let it slide as best as my petty mind can.
The big problem came up when I drew the view looking down the great hall, or tall hallway, or whatever the [censored] I called it.
I drew it to the basis of the previous floor plans, so:
      http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...thallside1.jpg
(Mind you, the floors above '1' are not drawn in, and the scenery or outdoor view you would see through the opening is not drawn in.)
From the start, I realized that the great hall was too wide for its height. ("Rats!")
But the thing that hit hard was when I realized that the 'doorway' I had drawn into the nook in front of the arch was only four feet tall, not six or seven.
      AARRRGHGGHH! This is not working.
Well, I did have four sizes of Academies originally. I guess the one I drew was just one size too small to be what I intend to post here. Yeah. The one i drew would be the second-smallest one. The smallest would be the x- and y-dimensions of a medium-to-small house, but taller, and the one larger would be... well, make that window above the arch a full-sized door, and then the largest would be the size of the Castel Saint Angelos.
But the third one is the one I'm trying to draw right now.

And thanks for reading this far-far-far-too-long rant

Interesting idea. I suggest letting go of subjective adjectives such as "lame." Your drawings have some interesting play and movement to them. They simply look unfinished. Keep drawing until you get to a point where you like looking at the drawing you drew.

Like? Oh. I usually leave that up to whoever is viewing/hearing/reading whatever it is I made. Thank you, though, Nomad.
I don't quite follow you when you say "play and movement". Are these artistic or architectural terms?

I'm not sure I'm following what you're saying in your rant haha
why is the great hall too wide? maybe if you could label a diagram I could see better

I'll pm you about the description and maybe even add in a little doodle
i will say that, in my dream, the hall to the left when you enter might have led to a large dining hall
and this is large, like harry potter dining hall large

      just keep working at it!

Okay, folks, I need an opinion here.
Below I have two floor plans for the first floor of the academy. The only mentionable differences (from this perspective) are in the shape of the outer walls. And that's important. To me. For some reason..... Anywhoo...
      The first drawing:

      The newer drawing:
      http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...lantype2ex.jpg
The second one is closer to what's in my head. (They're both considerably smaller than the Academy I want to post.)

I'm just wondering which you guys think is a better layout for the Academy.

And... I'll have a side view done soon.
