When I wake up to FILD, I get lazy and just go back to sleep. Also I don't write/type my Dreams. |

Maybe get paper and a pencil and start writing down random ideas for lucid dreaming and what cool things you would do if you had perfect control and were always lucid and how awesome this would be. And if you find out you don't really care then just stop trying. Maybe one day you will randomly get excited again because of a game or movie or something. Or you can look for other methods that might work better for you and where it doesn't feel like a chore. You can also write only short keywords for each dream, like "car explosion mother". |

A dim lamp a pen and paper short notes straight away when you get into it you wont want to stop I am going to try that for the week as I have not done a lot these days. |

Perhaps you can try using your cell phone? I usually have my cell phone under my pillow and when i wake up i just lay there for a minute or 2 so that i can remember the dream i just had. Another really good technique i discovered by accident to remember dreams is meditation. If i wake up and i realize that i cannot remember my dream, when i do my meditation which is just trying to observe my thoughts and just generally being aware, your brain waves fall to the alpha level and my dreams are more accessible in this space. |

Stop being lazy. You have an opportunity to get your ass out of bed, wake up a bit, and do FILD. We can't make you write dreams and we can't make you do FILD. I realize it is hard to do things when we feel lazy, but we can also recognize the laziness, realize it is counter to our goals, and make a different choice. Every time you do this, you set a different pattern of habits. Every time you roll over and go back to sleep, you reinforce the habit of doing nothing. That's my advice. |

lol threecat that is paradoxial. forcing yourself to do something against your will (or laziness/grogginess) so you get something fun in the future. its simply hard to see ahead and attribute appropriate weight to the well being of our future selves, it is not as simple as "get off your ass, stop being lazy, you know its the right thing to do". and to pretend it is that simple is to misunderstand part of human nature |

Doing something that you don't feel like doing at the moment for future benefit is the definition of willpower. It is good to establish positive habits, as ThreeCat says. It is good to plan head for the night, to see yourself winning the battle with grogginess to get up for a planned WBTB. Recognizing the truth about one's non-ideal habits and tendencies and resolving to fix or improve them and then following through will result in many benefits throughout life. There's no paradox at all in that advice, it's solid, good advice. We dreamers are participants in an individual event, nobody can help us but ourselves. Reaching that realization is one of the key stepping stones to success in LDing. |

Love to be lucid
Thanks, I have never told a lie for years. I don't know if that's a strength or a weakness. |

What I find what helps for me whenever I need to get through something is first of all I have to convince myself that this is what I want. If it really is what I want I know I really have to work for it. Secondly I try to divide my attention over shorter periods of time. For instance, when I quit smoking I didn't really feel the need to, but I knew it was kinda better. So at some point I just told myself: "Ok I do think it's good to stop so I have no excuse to wait with it reasonably". Next I said to myself: I will just stop for 1 month. After that it's all fine, just 1 month. After that month it was easy to fully stop, but I was fully prepared to continue smoking if it wouldn't be easy after a month. |
