      Color technique combo?

Ok, so I came up with my own technique to attain lucidity, it is a combination of probably DILD and WILD, although I'm not that knowledgeable in those things.

First - I have picked a color, red, in my case. Whenever is see (or, well, notice...) anything red during the day, I have to perform a reality check (And it is brutal, let me tell you, sometimes I do RCs 2 or 3 times in ONE minute. But I gotta try as hard as possible. Hope it is worth it.

I hope to be able to carry this habit over to my dreams.

Second - I needed to make sure that there will be enough clues to remind me of this in my dreams, so I needed something that would slap me in the face. And then I thought - The red room. something that would be inevitable to notice, 'cos it's everywhere around. So every time I either go to sleep, or wake up during the night (which is like 4 times a night), I intensely imagine being in the red room and try to drift off to sleep with that thought. There is nothing there but red walls everywhere. If that won't force me to perform a RC in the dream, I don't know what would.

I've only been testing this for 3 days, so no results yet. Even though I slept for 13 f***n' hours tonight and had 4 non-LDs. Oh well...

What do you guys think about this? Is the whole thing a good idea?

      What you doing is:

      1. making your own Dream Sign. Instead of finding a dream sign that you have both in your dreams AND in waking life, you are RCing on color red IWL with hopes to start seeing red things in your dreams that would trigger an urge to RC.

Like a 'reverse dream sign". It could work. If it doesn't spawn red things in your dream, maybe it will just give you an urge to RC at random moments.

      2. You are incubating a dream with red room. Again, it could work, but it may take some time.

I have noticed, that things that really impress on me IWL, those are more likely to show up in my dreams. So try to find 'red room' on youtube. Maybe a music video with intense red lighting. Then when watching it, go "wow, that's cool, intense..." and imagine yourself in that red room.

While it's perfectly ok to alter/improve the techniques, it would really help, if you started out with basic/classic methods and then alter them. Those methods are classic, because they have huge rate of success. Please ask, if you have any question. Happy dreams

That's an amazing idea! Now I have a plan for tonight

      ***ht***tp:/***/www***.youtube***.com/***watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=QBKsEVvsQXU#* **t=44s

I've actually downloaded some pictures of red rooms for my android to look at before going to sleep, but this might be even better, since GD are intense as f**k and they already made appearance in my dream about a week ago .

I know they're classic, but I always have to change things a bit to my liking . I'll keep on trying it for a while to see if it's sucessful, and if it isn't, I'll go back to something more "mainstream" .

      Welcome to the forum!

In my lucid dreams I noticed the color blue was a conspicuous feature on all kinds of prominent objects, from furniture to machinery. I noted it as a dream sign and found that when I saw these oddly-blue objects I could touch them and become lucid, knowing it was significant to me.

As gab said it may take some time to incubate these objects but if you are successful I expect you'll have some great lucid dreams. I find it's always good to start with prominent dream signs you will easily recognize.

      Pleasant dreams!

This is a really great idea, and since I like it so much I'm gonna try this too with the colour red. Thank you for the great idea (I know it works because I use to do this with bright lights).
I'll report back once I become lucid

Alright, so... it works! ... sort of.

My dreams are giving me insane clues. There were red wires electrocuting me when I touched them. I saw Power Rangers on TV (Oh the childhood memories ) and they were ALL RED. I also had other stuff in the dream, like Hannah Montana coming over to my house (The f**k?) and shouting at me for not watching her show (I'd never watch anything like that), or 5 different channels on TV showing the same thing. But... I am just ♪♫ DUMB, DUMB, DUMB ♪♫, and I fail to recognize even that as dream signs. My dream self is just a separate person that's not to be influenced in any way, I guess.

It worked saw a big red building in my dream and became lucid, I really think this holds potential. I have never had this much drive to do reality checks. I've tried all kinds of reverse reality checking like using doors or everytime I sit down but I never remember with those, this on the other hand works perfectly. I think I did at lest 20 reality checks throughout the day without forcing myself.

Glad to hear it works for other people, at least . But you are an experienced LDer, right? Cos for me, it is absolutely useless so far, but that is probably due to me not having any real LDs yet.

Still, I come up with a new method, it doesn't work for me, but it does for other people. Damn! I don't get it. I remember EVERY dream EVERY night with PERFECT detail and still no signs of any awareness/lucidity whatsoever, no matter what I do. Now what am I doing wrong?

Yup I'm quite experienced alright, but I noticed that it was the red building that got me lucid and not anything else, I also do a lot of meditation and awareness praise anyways so I'm quite good at this stuff. I think you just have to persist and keep trying, after a while you will get good, just stay hopeful.

Sure, no way I'm going to give up . And now that I know this works, I'll be trying even harder.

I used to meditate a lot, but then I f**ked up my spine a bit due to weight lifting too much (and getting hit by a car a few years earlier .. ) and since then, I get an annoying sensation of intense heartbeat every time I try to sit still. Let's hope meditating won't be that important in my case then .

Like I said, it's brutal . It is a test of your determination . (Don't worry, it is annoying for me, too ). But what other thing would be that simple and could remind you of RCs so much?

Ok, so my awareness is probably somewhere below zero. Last night, I was running around wearing this:

I knew of an impending apocalypse - the sun was going to blow up. I contacted a radio station and told them they should tell everyone to say their farewells, cos there was nothing that could be done. Lucidity? Of course not!

Even worse - this dream kept on going throughout the whole night. This was just the ending part. I woke up numerous times and always returned to sleep and the dream went on. I told myself I will return to the dream and become lucid every time I woke up during the night. Nah, no chance of that .

My subconsiuos is a real b**ch

      I'm interested!
Do you have an idea what colour is the best for this?
I know yellow is something rare in my dreams,
but it's not like a colour would come repeatedly in my dreams.
Should I try green, red, blue... ?

That depends on you entirely. I've chosen a color (red) that is quite rare in my dreams and started forcing it to be more signifiacant - So I'd know it is a dreamsign. But that might probably increase the difficulty when you're a beginner.

Maybe you could give yellow a shot. Since you'll be focusing on it IRL, then it might start appearing more in your dreams, so you'll become lucid due to seeing "quite too many" yellow things around you, which you are not used to.

Yes, but yellow is also quite rare IRL?
Red is also doesn't show up too much in my dreams.
I'm going to try red as well, just because I see it more often IRL.
Going to post results as soon as I have them

I'd go for red, it's alarming and very little colours border on red like they do with yellow blue or green. Yellow is especially annoying because a lot of things are sort of cream coloured and not yellow.

      @dutchraptor:
I agree, also red is an 'aggressive', 'emotional' or 'active' colour (don't know how to describe it)
That makes it easier to remind you of doing a RC.
      I'm going to use it.

Alright, here's the deal. You are using my method, so I'm now going to use yours ! I think I'm already doing DEILD to a certain degree, so - yeah .

But it always fails me. I just can't maintain my consciousness, no matter how hard I try. My dream recall is absolutely incredible and today I had 4 dreams, and as usual - I started regaining my awareness at the end of each and then I woke up, being half in the dream and half awake. It was like a "vision" again. What was weird - I don't know if this can be considered "Lucid Dreaming", but at the end of my last dream, I was in a hospital and the doctor wanted to tell me something about my health. And even though I wasn't conscious and couldn't control the dream, I felt I have some influence. I wanted to know what he was going to tell me. Then the dream started fading. But my dream self seemed to agree with me. For the first time. Ever. He ("me") raised his hand like Neo in the Matrix when stopping bullets and declared "This dream isn't going to end until I know what the doctor was about to say!" Then water started pouring down from all the walls. In a while, it was like when you're driving a car while it's raining a lot and you can barely see anything through your windshield. He was trying so hard that the dream literally transformed into a lake. As I was waking up, I was in the "half dream" state again (I think I'm just going to call it "HD", so it seems like I'm achieving something awesome there... ), seeing just a fading vision. I don't know if this is some kind of a mental block that prevents me from manipulating the dream, like I'm not meant to, for some reason?

On a side note - No red whatsoever this time. 4 dreams, all just shades of white or yellow, maybe gray.
