Oh I understand now. I just didn't get it before. So we do this subconsciously? I understand now. Thanks for the info.

You usually wake up only for a few moments, I believe, so most people don't remember. After all, they're half-asleep.
Haven't you recalled more than one dream a night sometime before?
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I was reading a magazine article the other day and the author said that he has had at least 15,000 lucid dreams and doesn't bother to keep count anymore. Walms, two hours on a reality check, that's dedication! The most I've had in one night is four and I'm working on a method that promises multiple lucid dreams every night without the need for reality checks, just pure awareness. Oh, as others have said, I wrote in my dream journal today four dreams recalled from last night.

Please click on the links below, more techniques under investigation to come soon...

Read up on REM cycles. Being woken up in the middle of the night has nothing to with it. When you sleep you have phases of sleep and cycles of sleep. You enter different phases at different times and might go through a sleep cycle over and over again in one night. During parts of these cycles in some of the phases, you dream. REM sleep is the phase where dreaming is most prevelant. Since this process repeats itself you can enter a dream state and leave it and enter a dream state and leave many times in one night without ever being woken up.

      Almost.

The end of every cycle is accompanied by an awakening that typically last only a short while. Most people don't remember it, but it's possible train yourself to recognize each one. That training is typically done for WBTBs, DEILDs and the like.

It's also important to note the lengthening of the REM phase as the night goes on. I believe a chart was already posted on this thread, yeah?

Looking at your journal, it looks like you nearly always have false awakenings. Damn, wish I did. >.<

Either you are born with the gift to LD that frequently or you don't and to get around the 100s you'd need extra help like the REMDreamer I think or some other method like WILD maybe if you can master it. DILDs can get you around 10 per year if you are really good at it but don't expect it to get to 100s per year. Not to say I'm jelous but those high figures may be exagerated, no way to find out for sure so don't be discouraged by frequency it's the memory of what you dreamt that really counts.

I am sure you are right in some respects. But for those that focus on improving DILD/MILD skills I say it can be learned effectively. When at the top of my game I can DILD pretty often, far more than 10 per year, but I have never used a REM dreamer or other such device and certainly am not naturally gifted. (I have had just about every major and many minor obstacles in LDing and still have many to overcome.)

Well, my LD count isn't that big because I've lucid dreamed for only a year and I haven't counted my all LDs so the count isn't precise. Also, I can have a DILD on will. The problem is to be willing .

Let me explain: I sometimes get this feeling, it's like 'How wouldn't I know when I'm dreaming? Lucid dreaming is an easy thing!'. It always results in a DILD. So I read this thread yesterday before going to sleep and decided that I'd have a lucid dream next time I go to sleep. I went to sleep and woke up at around 4.00 am. No lucid dream. 'Damn, I must focus on this!', I thought and fell asleep and did have a DILD.

As far as I know, all (or most) naturals' LDs are DILDs.
