Lucid Dreamer just because of Inception?

I'm curious as to how many users on DV are interested in the topic of dreaming due to only having seen the recent movie; Inception.

Haha, well when the movie came out, there was an obvious increase in new members joining DV. Even the members noticed it, but the stats showed it too.

So yea, there will be a lot of people answering yes here. Unless they all got their arses out when they realized they can't share dreams

Also, welcome back to DV I see you've been gone a while.

I thought I would see for myself, secretly hoping to find a post matching my cynical views.

Thank you very much, it's good to be back.

I'm actually quite interested to see how many people say yes here.
I have absolutely no idea how many people actually stayed here after gaining interest that way. I'm also curious if the Inception-boost is still happening.

Inception didn't really get me into it, I never even related it to Lucid Dreaming. Feels kinda obvious now, though.

Around the release of Inception, I must have spoken to at least 25 new members. I'm certain there were more than that, but some of them probably left soon afterwards. I'm curious to see who stuck around.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I joined DV as inception came out, but I didn't know what it was until after I joined DV. But I remember there were lots of other new people who said they came because of it, but they seemed to mostly have dissapeared.

not guilty, I already was a natural lucid dreamer when I was younger
      From my rotting body,
      flowers shall grow
      and I am in them
      and that is eternity.

      Nope. Not guilty!

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

I would think a lot of people who watched Inception thought it would be as easy as plugging yourself into a machine and getting lucid. I may be wrong, but just my two cents lol.
I personally didn't, when I saw the movie I was more into the actual plot then the concept itself.

Nah. I've never seen inception. I don't even remember how I found DV. I think it was a really hot night and i couldn't fall asleep. A random thought just came to me: "hey, how cool would it be to control your dreams?"
Never thought it was even possible

I started before Inception. Though, I'm sure attaching the word "guilt" to a new lucid dreamer based on how they were introduced to the idea is not a positive way to encourage them.

      Word.

I remember seeing Inception on opening night... I actually have the movie ticket in the blu-ray case of Inception! People groaned at the end of the movie and threw their arms up; it was pretty hilarious.

The theatre wasn't even packed; there were maybe fifteen+ seats left... And we were in Vancouver! xD

The sound on the blu-ray is great. Anyways, I feel we're getting off-topic slightly. Haha.

      Cool

      NOT GUILTY

I saw the movie Vanilla Sky (Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz) way back in 2001 and that got me interested.

Not guilty, I saw it about a month after I found out about lucid dreaming.

I'm glad actually, though I'm not sure I would have researched shared dreaming/lucid dreaming afterwards.

We need more movies about dreams! They always seem to bring a lot of attention to lucid dreaming. Free publicity for lucidity
