What happens when you ask "Am I dreaming" while in a dream?

So what happens when you ask this in your dream?

Also what happens if you answer yourself while in it.

Well if you ask yourself that then think "yes" then you will prob go lucid, but sometimes you can ask yourself that and say yes and for a second you go lucid then suddenly loose it, but the majority of the time you will end up in a lucid dream, always do a reality check to make sure...the last thing you wanna do is think your dreaming and then jump out your bedroom window or something and then realise your not..ohh poo lol

I can't recall asking that at that point. It's more like a growing wave of doubt and lucidity. At some point I think I'm dreaming, and that thought is enough to make me spam reality checks. If they fail and I still think I'm dreaming, I yell at myself "I am dreaming I know it, just freaking work!"

If you're used to question yourself during the day, just the small doubt at first will give you some lucidity to actually forget about the scenario/event and perform a reality check.

I stop and look around and do a reality check. If the reality check fails, I become lucid!

By the time I say that, I've usually already stopped in my tracks and have gone wide-eyed with the possibility that I could be dreaming. I usually phrase the question as an exclamation, such as "holy [expletive], I'm dreaming!" and then I immediately follow up with an RC.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

This is exactly where the Live Posts entry cut off, and I had to click to see what you were gonna say next.

If you trained for the moment... the enire world will suddeny flash before your eyes. You will realize thay what you have believed about what is reality for your entire life was wrong. You will know, without a doubt, that although it feels, smells, sounds real... you are absolutely in a dream. And therefore you are lucid.

.... Whatever you expect to happen after this question has been asked.
If your meaning asking a DC... They usually just laugh at me and tell me to stop being stupid. .... A-holes.

My first LD, last week, I saw something totally bizarre and said to myself "Holy $&%#" I'm dreaming". That's when I became lucid. No RC's though So I said to a DC, "This is a dream!" and they replied, "Oh course it's a dream. Everything is a dream!". So, I didn't say, "I'm I dreaming?" It just happened.

I pretty much flip out every single time I go lucid. It's hilarious to remember my reaction upon waking.
