I'm not sure why but i think is becuase if you confront by not being scared and running away, you may eventually get over it.
Thank you Unumtrium, that sounds a very good way of dealing with these dreams. I will deffo try that & see how it goes. I will try anything to stop them.

Considering sleepwalking, it's a possibility. But I've never seen a person dead because of lucid dreaming, since lucid and normal dreams aren't the same.

We've already established its not really possible. Unless you have anything useful to add, don't.

You don't sleepwalk in REM because you're essentially paralyzed, and you don't lucid in non-REM because it's barely vivid at all. It's very unlikely that you'll lucidly sleepwalk off of a cliff.

Risk of death by cause (relative):

Car ride>Plane ride>A walk in the park>Falling out of bed>Choking on your pillowcase>Meteor Impact> Dream

Are you so afraid every time you get in a car?

Oh, yeah. Check out US death statistics. About 10 billion people die from lucid dreaming every year just in the US alone! Yeah, but I do it anyway, because I'm a badass.

      Kahiko,

The question is, what gives you the idea that one could die from lucid dreaming in the first place? What makes you more worried about lucid dreams than regular dreams?

Actually, if you are dieing in a dream and it brings about anxiety etc., you could probably die in real life. How? If you have a bad heart or poor health, it could bring on a heart attack or stroke. Realistically, it wouldn't be limited to just dieing in a dream, it could be a variety of things from a dream. Though highly unlikely, it is possible.

If you did die from a heart attack or stroke while sleeping, everyone would say how lucky you were to pass away with no pain and peacefully. People do die in their sleep. Do they die because of something intense in their dream? Who knows.

But you aren't dying from the dream, you are dying indirectly from it due to complications.

If you have a bad heart or poor health, it could bring on a heart attack or stroke.
Then you died due to a stroke and a heart attack, not because you had a dream. If you apply that logic, we can die from everything. Watching TV, going to a fireworks show, playing a computer game.

Another way to look at it is did the death in the dream bring on the anxiety or did the anxiety bring on the death in the dream? Of course the anxiety would be the cause of death in real life.

By my logic, yes you can. You can die from having sex etc..

Right, well let's say you can get a heart attack from an intense dream. Which I will concede could be possible if you have a pre-existing condition. Wouldn't lucid dreaming be much safer? I mean, at least you will know you are dreaming, which would make things less frightening and less likely to get you so riled up you would have heart failure.

Maybe. What if you are having lucid sex? Ever get a hard-on etc. in real life while having dream sex? This then begs the question if the dream sex brought on the external stimuli of the "hard-on" or if the "hard-on" brought on the internal stimuli of the dream sex.

Really, it doesn't matter. If it is your time to die, it is your time to die.
