Thread: What does your username mean?

Mine is a fragmentation and reassembly of my first and last names + 101 which is l337 for LOL.

You know when crayola comes out with a new color. When I went thru my psychosis in 05....sonicwhite came to my head. I think it would be the brightest of all white. And I adobted the idea to use as my dj name. Even tho I rarely spine anymore. It has a nise tone to it.

Abra is a pokemon that spends 22 hours a day in a lucid sleep state. I thought it apt, considering this forum's theme, and considering I (used to) play competitively.

Greek for dream then I added er at the end so my username basically means dreamer...

I have many nicknames over internet and i have created this one at first for a different place, but i decided that it would be cool to use it somewhere else, to be exact i was checking the certain chat room on wikia with a friend, thus that's what 'Checker' part came from, and 666 is one of my favorite numbers(hehe).

Ophelia is my favorite Shakespearean character (it's a drowning thing). And Blue is my favorite color.

I only found out after I chose that name back in '04, that J.W. Waterhouse painted Hamlet's Ophelia in blue dress, and titled it "Blue Ophelia."

I started using PennyRoyal in my early teens because I love the band Nirvana.

Originally it was PennyRoyalty (The song is 'Penny Royal Tea'. But I eventually shortened it for whatever reason.

I have no idea why I picked Amurehna. Especially considering the name is derived from one of the mad characters I created, Amurehn the Serpent-Thrall. Honestly she kind of creeps me out. Does that mean I creep myself out? =/ hmm.

I wanted a nickname that wouldn't give away who I was to someone on here (I usually use one with my cat's name in it) and I decided I was thinking quite hopefully and wishing to lucid so I decided on Wishfulthinker.

Mine's the first letters of each of my names

Astrosomnia = two of my favourite things - "Astro", as in stars, space and the universe, "Somnia" as in dreaming. So, "Space Dreams". Seemed pretty self-explanatory while still sounding badass. Admittedly it's probably my favourite username I've ever had.

I actually meant it fairly literally, I almost died when I was 4 in a drowning accident.

There's also a Hamlet opera where Ophelia has a pretty righteous mad scene with lots of crazy coloratura. Crazy and drowned, just like me

Woah... Well, pretty sure everyone to ever sign up on DreamViews is glad that that accident ended up alright. Way to make a whole lotta name sense.

You know, I had always wondered why you picked that. Glad you're alive. Good play as well.

As for me, I really couldn't think of anything Artemis is my favorite Greek goddess, also the one I feel the most affinity to. Plus my usual usernames were taken.

My name is just one of my favorite hip hop albums that i thought had a cool name, had to misspell it though because midnight was too long.

I like the sound of it and have been using it as an online alias for a few years. I got the idea from the name Dianora, a character in a fantasy novel I read called Tigana. I've always liked names that start with 'D'. To me it sort of represents the confidant, epic person I want to be, instead of the shy timid person which I feel most people view me as, and which my real name seems to represent.

There are a couple, one by Verdi and one by Thomas. The latter is the french version, most noted for Ophelia's mad scene. Natalie Dessay is a french phenom who sings the living daylight out of this scene. Natalie's stratospheric high notes really depict the madness within Ophelia's character, just another typical female pawn of her age with no control over her own life. The self-cutting is particularly intense.

Edit: you know, I saw Miss Dessay perform Zerbinetta in Richard Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos at the Met back in May of '03. She is only about 5'1" or 5'2", and those pipes of hers carry over that full scale orchestra to the farthest reaches of the opera house. It's truly something to behold, I wish everyone could hear her live.
