Or how about 0 points if you don't get it done on time but you tried hard? Sort of a good compromise. I dunno.

Good luck with your travel this time.

This was... holy crap five days ago now, but I haven't really had the time to update about it. I finished the first one just fine, and I attempted the second one but didn't quite hit my mark. So I guess that's a +1 and a -1... so I'm back at 0. Herm.

Next: Start my history paper by the end of tomorrow.

I think I got 2 points. I did return my mailbox key. I did neglect to post but I still posted on the last day of the week, so 2 points? Or less?
Edit: Next I will go to my doctors appointment this Friday. I have a bad habit of not going to appointments.

Failure, now I'm at -5. T-T At least I still have time to actually finish the paper, though....

Next: Go on a morning walk through the forest before class tomorrow, right after I wake up.

I PM'd a mod to change the OP to a points scheme with more positive re-enforcement, as requested by some people. Once that's been edited this should be a lot more fun.

Based on the new points system I proposed, the following is the number of points everyone who's posted goals has, from what I can gather (not including cases where the person never stated whether they accomplished it or not). It was sometimes hard to tell because some people didn't specify whether they failed due to procrastination or not, or whether they at least did most of it. So look at your own points for the most accurate results once the OP is edited, but this is my best guess from reading everyone's posts:

      Dianeva: +3
      saltyseedog: -3
      sefalik: 0
      Alyzarin: +2
      oneiroer: +3
      khh: +3

      ------------

I have been procrastinating all day. The thing is, this is a trap I get into far too often. I've been pretty depressed lately, which has caused me to be slow, lethargic and completely unmotivated. But today I was actually in a fairly good mood. I woke up feeling like I was going to get things done. I felt like I could concentrate so easily and it wouldn't be hard. I was looking forward to accomplishing a lot.

But it's almost 8 pm and I haven't done a thing. I felt so confident that procrastinating a bit didn't seem like a big deal - it was fun and I 'knew' that I'd soon be studying, but I never did.

      G) Finish chapter 11 of OS textbook before I sleep tonight.

2:30pm and I haven't done a thing but go on DV. I'm going to try to be completely ready in every way to study, etc. by 3:45. That means taking a walk, smoking, eating, getting my clothes from the laundry, taking a shower.... 3:45 is still very late, but it's better than procrastinating until 6pm or something as has been around the average lately.

      -----------

I did most of it, and could have done it all since I did everything I said I'd do with a couple minutes to spare. But I realized I needed cigarettes, and needed to relax for a bit, so I just accepted that and didn't try to push it.

So +1 = 7 points. I kind of feel bad that I made this thread, and all it's accomplished is making a few people feel bad except for me. lol. Like I made this game and I'm the only one who has points because I'm the only one taking it seriously. It's fine though. It seems to help me at least, I suppose that was the point.

      Read sections 12.1 - 12.4 by 5:30pm (65 minutes).

I might lose points for my newest goal as I probably have to reschedule due to a co pay. I'm broke so I probably messed up . Might there be exceptions for occurrences like this? If not that's cool too. It'll motivate me.

Make whatever exceptions you think make sense. If you didn't reach your goal because something unexpected happened then of course you should discount it. Unless it's like "I unexpectedly procrastinated" of course, lol. I don't intend to be an authority on this thread, I just happened to have the original idea. Like how Gavin started RRC&C but no one remembers that. If enough people think some rule needs to be changed I'll ask for the OP to be edited again. Really I'd be happy if a few more people posted here as a community thing, since it would feel more 'real' if people took it seriously.

(@#$% *&# lol I just realized I've been procrastinating since I wrote that last post, for 16 minutes. Time to actually study for real now..)

      -----------

Did about half of it but I'm going to consider this a failure, since I probably would have done the whole thing if I'd not procrastinated.
      7 - 2 = 5 points

Read 12.4 - 12.6, and look some stuff up online to make sure I understand it, before 9 pm (3 1/2 hours).

Thanks Dianeva, I think I'd actually just like to lose some points. I kinda have a gambling addiction. That's why I'm broke so could you subtract points next time you post points? I think your idea will motivate me not to gamble and stop procrastinating!

      Buy boots
      Clean the floors
Complete school work for one class

I guess I should add taxes to that too... I finished federal and local taxes, but the damn state tax website tells me my name and social security number is invalid. Guess I have to call it in; not that I owe anything anyway; just a waste of time.
Ok, well I don't know if this was a fair "goal" either. I planned too far ahead. I bought the boots and completed the school work during the weekend, but ended up replaced cleaning the floors with other tasks which I decided were more important (I got the floors done Monday). So, I'll say +3, +3, and +0? Or would that be -2?

Bah, I suppose I need to be more active to not fail at this thread. That, and usually when I set "goals" it's a very short-term thing. Like, today I decided I'm going to the gym. If I have time afterwards, I'm bringing the shop-vac outside to clean my car. I don't procrastinate in doing short-term goals like this... it's only when I try to plan too far ahead and create too large a list.

      G) Be ready to study (already do w/e DV and other checking you'll do, eat, walk, etc.) by 4:20 (1 hour and 10 mins).

      ------

Did most of it but was checking things for like 15 mins after the deadline. (9 pts)

      ------

      G) Read sections 12.7 - 13.3 by the end of the day, comprehending most of it.

Finish chapter 13 before 10pm tonight (5 hours). Huge task but I really need to get this done.

EDIT: Add no procrastinating, no going on DV or YouTube or FB at all. If I so much as go on it once after writing this post then I'll consider the whole thing a failure. Exception: if I'm eating I can watch youtube but must go off as soon as I'm finished.

      ------

I actually did it! I didn't procrastinate at all, and finished more quickly than I thought I would. It's hard to believe how much I can get done when I'm not checking stuff every 5 minutes. I also noticed that I had the urge to check something really often. But this time, since I knew I couldn't, I fought off the urge and it was gone shortly.

I've been stuck for 5 hours procrastinating on DV. It's amazing how quickly time can go. It seems unfair, like I haven't even done anything and didn't even realize I was procrastinating until I looked at the time and was startled. It's 6 pm and I feel like I just woke up, since I've done almost nothing.

      G) Work on my assignment for the next two hours (until 8 pm). Get at least half of it done, that's 6 questions. Again, no distractions at all. I can't go on DV, YouTube or anything like that. I can't sign onto Steam or Skype. I can only open my internet browser if I'm looking something up relating to the assignment. Any slip and I'll consider the entire thing a failure.

      ----

Failed but tried as hard as I could, didn't procrastinate, 11 points.

I.... I don't wanna keep complaining about the scoring system but.... now it's too positive....

      Oh well....

Task: Hand in two resumes by the end of today

      Edit: +3

      Score: 3

I actually was about to not do this, but then I thought of the meaningless points and I decided to.
So I think this will work.

      Spoiler for pre:

Goal: Do at least 4 assignment questions in the next 2 hours (doesn't sound like much but each question can easily take me an hour due to perfectionism).

      lol

      ------

EDIT: Well there's no way I'm getting this done in time. I procrastinated for like 1/4 of the time, and have only gotten 1 question done. Mostly I just gave into my need to endlessly edit my sentences. NEED TO STOP THAT.

-2 -1 points = 8 points (extra -1 because last time i said +1 when it should have been +0)

Goal: The next 3 questions in the next 2 hours. That's 40 minutes per question, I better be able to do this or this is !@#$ing ridiculous...

Tomorrow I want to have made all of my physics homework, and done studying for my moped exam. Really can't be driving around without a license all the time.
