I was able to find a free app for android devices called "Zazen Lite" that, besides being a meditation timer, also has a "Mindfulness Bell" which you can set up to ring randomly either 1, 2, 5, or 10 times per hour. I will probably set it to 2 times per hour but tested it first at 10 just to make sure it would ring even with my phone asleep. It has a nice peaceful gong sound as default but also has other sounds in the options. It should be on iphone also, it says that it was ported over from iOS. -This sounds like it works just like P.E.S.T, right? How does 2 times per hour sound?
I am also experimenting with "toastr" which briefly displays a customizable message whenever I unlock my phone (kind of like your rabbit foot in pocket, I guess).
