What does it feel like when you realise that you're in a dream?

I'm still trying to attain lucidity but I'm wondering what it actually feels like when you do.

Is some weird feeling of awareness rushing over you in contrast to the normal absent minded dream state or is it just like "oh look at that, I'm in a dream"

I hope this isn't too vague a question.

For me it's a the first one, some kind of awareness exactly like waking up. It's also linked with a rush of excitement as I realise that I am invincible in my dream. It feels almost as if you have just discovered something ingenious, you feel like you have accomplished something huge, It's quite great.

      Sounds good

Say I was to achieve my first one, would it be possible for the sudden excitement to wake me up? Because that would be infuriating.

Yes most people have that. I was lucky enough to enjoy my first LD for a few mins and lost stability because I didn't know any tricks. Most people won't have a long LD because it's impossible to make up your mind on what you want to do

Speaking of doing stuff in lucid dreams, I've been wondering how much effort it takes to do "reality warping things" in them like flying or morphing objects. Do you just think about doing it and it happens? Or do you need to concentrate?

I can usually do anything I want by just thinking it, although I still wave my arms around. Sometimes if something doesn't work I imagine myself sucking energy out of the matter around me to make me more powerfull, It seems to convince my mind that I actually became in control more. I do practise Deild though, so I am going straight into my dream which should give me a more certain level of control, while people who practise Dild or Mild can have any level of control.

Cool, I myself am attempting the ADA method although the work I'm doing at the moment usually requires me to concentrate instead of being fully aware of everything so I'm thinking of a different/extra approach. The DEILD method sounds good from what I've read, how do the two compare? If you can say that is.

Realizing you are dreaming is exhilarating. The secret is controlling your excitement. Staying calm extends the experience.

They are both equal really, depending on how much effort you put into them. The main reason I love Deild is (this will sound stupid) is because of the name . At some point it will be in your favour to learn Deild as you can chain dreams toghether, so it's possible to have over 15 lucid dreams a night. The guide I wrote is being very succesfull (got a guy who had never had a lucid dream after 4 months of trying, a lucid dream in one night). I still advise to have you first few LD's through Mild or Dild, get used to them first.
The best would be to practise both ADA for Dilds and Deild aswell, but that might be a little to much.

well, for me,i had varied experiences, for my first LD it was shock, pure shock,i couldn't believe that i am actually in a dream, the second was excitement, unfortunately they both laid to me waking up,after that i had a bunch of 5s mini lucid dreams,i quit LDing after that but it turned out that i was wrong to do that, and this fact was proven by my last LD where i felt one of the best feelings i have ever had.

I had a DILD before and it was pretty cool. Very blurry and Dull though. Thats why im more concerned with WILD/DEILDs. Just entering your own world and realizing youre a god among men is going to be the quite the experience

You want to know how it feels to be lucid? Lucid is the realization that you are dreaming, so if you want to know how that feels without being in a dream...

Imagine that I told you right now "You are dreaming" or imagine that your friend told you "You are dreaming" and that you realize that everything around you is but a dream.
      That's how it feels.

It's a bit odd, but for me I don't really feel anything, and can't think of what to do so I get bored (This isn't normal, right?)

It's an amazing feeling! For me, it's like a rush of energy In my first LD, I got so excited that I floated to the ceiling! Fortunately I got a few minutes to explore around after I calmed down!

It is amazing, exhilarating, fantastic, powerful, and unbelievably awesome.

I began with lucid dreaming many years ago, and I still feel the same emotions whenever I realize I'm in a dream.

      It is just superb.

I haven't had very many lucids, but the times I have become lucid, it was one of those moments where you just want to scream your joy from the rooftops.

It's like I was never there to begin with, really. My body may have been but then, there I am like I just logged into someone else's character in a game in the middle of their quest. One thing I've noticed is, there's a lot less noise and filler in my head. I can think much clearer, calmer so excitement was never an issue for me but my dreams are extremely unstable so they don't really last long, haha.

My first LD was something else though, it was extremely clear and crisp, I had to question which was the dream - where I was now or the place I just went to sleep? I knew the answer but it was like everything was so much more... high def than reality, and I felt amazing. I haven't quite felt this in any of the LDs afterwards, but my entire body felt amazing and I hadn't a problem in the world, all of my stress was gone anything that ever bothered me; gone. I felt so free, so light, my body felt euphoric.

It pretty much drives my interest in LDs, that feeling was better than any drug on this planet.

Becoming aware in my dreams kind of feels like a slap in the face, metaphorically of course. My last lucid, which happened about two weeks ago, I jumped from a balcony and launched off of an inflatable escape slide, went a few hundred feet in the air and thought "Yeah that shouldn't happen. I'm obvz dreaming." It takes you from a groggy dream-like state to a near second reality. It's very very cool!
