      DILD Without WBTB?

Does anyone have any good techniques to induce a DILD without a WBTB? All my lucid dreams rely on a WBTB.

Make sure you get plenty of sleep. If you get more sleep than usual the night before, you should be less tired the night after. The point of WBTB is to make you less tired to increase your awareness so this should do the same.

I personally like to fall asleep thinking about as little as possible. This makes the dream more vivid for me which also increases my awareness a bit.

To increase your chances of an ld without wbtb, you can make a list of your dream signs and read them thoughout the day. You can also include a mantra like "I see DS1, I become lucid". You can RC more during the day and also practice ADA. Here are some useful links:

There's a reason WBTB is recommended: scientific research shows that WBTB boots LD frequency by a very large amount (maybe 5-20 times more likely!).
WBTB doesn't need to be long, the point is to wake yourself up so that you can set your intention properly, and so your brain is a bit more active when dreaming, which is when you get closer to lucidity.

It's all true what is said in above posts.

But, WBTB is not required for a DILD. You do all your mental prep during day and as you falling asleep. If you happen to wake up at night for whatever reason, you can sit up, do a few RCs and mantras, set your intent and go back to sleep with your mantra.

But a regular WBTB is not required as it is for WILDs. It wakes up your mind enough, so you don't fall asleep right away and you are able to wait for a dream to start before falling asleep again. But for a DILD, there is no need for this, as you fall asleep first, then you get lucid when already in a regular dream.

As gab said, it's definitely not necessary at all.

I've found that WBTB does help my recall quite a bit, but it's not needed to have recall, or to DILD. You should work on your recall if you find you can't remember a lot of dreams, and go about your RCs and raised awareness throughout the day, and you should be just find.

      Good luck!
