The Nomad Chronicles

The Cusp challenged me to battle a creature he would send me in a dream to see if it is possible.

I am sitting in the Battle Pyramid, doing an incantation, a sacred rite with fire and darkness. A portal opens above me, and The Cusp leaps down holding some kind of strange cat-dog thing in his arms. “Oops!” he says, looking at me, then leaps back into the portal, leaving the beast there. It growls at me and hackles raise on its back. I growl back, and morph into a cat wolf beast. I decide to have fun and watch it fight Jo. I teleport to the inside of the pyramid, and summon Jo, shooting him off my forearm.
I watch them battle, giving Jo suggestions. I realize Jo is not battling with it. He is playing with it, like it’s a toy. Apparently, he realizes it has no sentience, and plays with it like a dog plays with an inanimate object like a stick or ball. I laugh, and the creature disappears.
The Cusp appears out of a portal with another creature in his hands. In one hand he has a beer. He drinks it, smashes it on his forehead, then tosses it aside with a loud belch. He looks at me, and says, “oops!” as the creature disappears. “Dammit! I keep getting distracted by this awesome bar. and it’s not even real!”
“Let’s go!” I laugh.
“It’s not there, it’s in my mind!”
“Okay?”
“So, it’s already gone,” he says sadly. “Damn, I love dream beer,” he mumbles. A cylinder of beer in no container appears in his hand. “Hey!” he smiles, and drinks it. “Alright, dude, pound fists. I have to ... this fucking floorboard is warped because ... uh... I spilled beer on it, and I have to color match blah blah blah...”
“But, you’re in a dream.”
“Right. But this is where I do my gay shit. Like color match. Oh, and smell roses. I love roses!”
“Okay, man.”
He bows and disappears.
Jo says, “?”
