    Purpose
    Dreams, notes, and other experiments to assist in achieving high-quality lucid dreams on a regular basis.

    Terms
    Reality Check (RC): Action used to evaluate if one is dreaming. Common methods include plugging the nose and testing whether it can be breathed through, as well as inspecting one's hands for irregularities compared to waking reality.

    Memory Lapse (...): Where memory ends for a given stream of consciousness. For example, going to sleep in a dream and waking up in the dream later with no recollection of the sleep.

    Dream Initiated Lucid Dream (DILD): Lucid dreaming type that originates from the dreamer regaining awareness from within a dream.

    Wake Initiated Lucid Dream (WILD): Lucid dreaming type that originates from the dreamer maintaining awareness from waking near-directly into a dream.

    Wake Back To Bed (WBTB): Sleep cycle interruption technique used to achieve lucid dreams.

    Legend
    Blue: Denotes regular non-lucid dream recall.

    Purple: Denotes lucid dream recall (formerly Orange).

      Lost the recall on these, but I definitely had some content upon waking. Still haven't invested into finding a good solution for being too lazy in the morning to record. They seem to fade so darn fast. To be fair, we had some pretty busy evenings this weekend, so I can hardly blame myself for this result. But still. Wish the recall was better.

    2. Night of Friday 3/24/23 [WILD Success!]

      Pre-WBTB
      My girlfriend SB shows me a new type of thread she is working with. It is layered type of thing. There is red material inside a main branch of thread and it can be stretched. I'm playing with it and she asks me to stop so I don't ruin it. She is working on new home project.

      Post-WBTB
      I get up and take the Yuschak primary trigger. I stay awake about 10 minutes and prepare my DJ. I re-read some old dreams, go to the bathroom, and then head back to bed. I lay for awhile and the vibrations come pretty quick. I get through one cycle of them, no images. I get a second one, and then I see a white flash, then more vibrations. I think about how last time I "missed the bus" at the end. This time, I imagined a first person view of my hands in front of me, similar to a FPS game. This visual formed at the end of the tunnel. Next thing I knew, I was standing hands outstretched exactly how I visualized. My first full WILD. Nice!

      I'm lucid in a place that looks like my Grandma P's bedroom. My girlfriend SB is there. I stabilize by rubbing my hands together and touching things around the room. I talk to SB for a bit but I forgot the conversation. Also, spicy content occurs but I forget the details. I lose lucidity for a bit. Later, I'm lucid in a place that looks like my friends AG and HS' old apartment. There was some conflict here but I lost the details.

      Some time later I've lost lucidity and my brother A and I are in my car. We are outside a house on a sunny day. I'm yelling at him about something. I recall feeling how hoarse my throat felt. He broke something near the drink holder on my car, and is still arguing with me and trying to give me a stack of bills. I'm frustrated cause I'm trying to fix the drink holder and my hands are busy. He doesn't care.

      I probably should have gotten up to record the lucids sooner. I know I lost a lot of details here, but happy I got another lucid. Seems like the supplements work for me. It's also possible that weekend extra sleep time might be doing the trick. Might be worth it to isolate those conditions and find out. I also woke up after 5 hours this time instead of the usual 6. I may have WILD'd into the end of a sleep cycle instead of the beginning, which could have contributed to the instability. Next time, 5.5 hours before waking might be better. I think the 10 minutes awake seems to be good though.

      No recall.

      Definitely had something more than usual today. Maybe multiple fragments or a short dream. But it faded very quickly. Maybe I will look into using a mic to capture these dreams. Maybe I just need to plan waking time in better alignment with my REM cycles.

      Adding this link to my DJ for reference. Very interesting so far. I was able to focus on about 3 sounds at once before losing focus on one or more of them. These are fun and give me a goal to aim for during meditation.

      I'm in a race in a sunny grassy place. Dream feels light-hearted and happy.

      Really hoping for some better recall soon. Getting tired of these fragments! Been practicing awareness during the day, reading a ton about lucid dreaming, meditating 4 times a week, getting 7+ hours of sleep, plus I woke up without the snooze today. Still crap recall...

      I'm getting married. Scene is similar to SP and GP's wedding from last October. Grass is vivid green. I see who is meant to be the father in law up ahead, but I don't recognize him.

      I'm my best friend D's den at his parent's house. My uncle K has been shot multiple times in the head with a pistol but he isn't going down. I can see fleshy material where the bullet went in. They keep shooting him. They test talking to him and he isn't coherent anymore, but doesn't go down. Some time later I'm hiding in a side bathroom that isn't normally there (it's normally in a different off-shoot of the room). I try to call 911 but get interrupted. The captors take me upstairs where D's room normally is, and it is outfitted as a 'hacker's room'. There are two hackers there and they have multiple monitor setups. They also have keyboards that virtually scroll vertical, and they explain that this makes them type faster. They tell me my 911 call is pointless because they blocked it. For some reason, the team of captors remind me of the staff of Nazarick from the anime Overlord (they aren't the characters though). We go to the foyer downstairs and they all crowd there. Apparently they have decided to let me go. There is an emotional goodbye (the leader reminds me of my friend JV) and then I leave through the front door.

      I'm running through a gloomy version of my neighborhood with overgrown grass and deep dark green colors. I end up running through a random house through an open window, observe the living room while running, and leave through another open area without stopping. It is similar to how I was doing it in the Woods Nightmare dream. I was worried about waking the owners of the home as I ran through. I end up on a high patio, and I have the feeling that I am being tracked. The dream overall is scary, but doesn't have the same sense of dread as a nightmare.

    12. 61 Points Relaxation Technique (Article by Howie)

      1. 61 point relaxation technique


      This figure illustrates 61 points on the body. To do this exercise, you need to memorize the sequence of points. (This is not difficult, because the points are arranged in a simple pattern) They begin at the forehead, travel down and up your right arm, then across to your left arm, down to your torso, down and up your right legs, then back up your torso to the forehead.

      2. Focus your attention on one point at a time
      Begin at your forehead, focus your attention between your eyebrows and think of the number one. Keep your attention fixed at point one for several seconds until you feel that your awareness of the location is clear and distinct. Think of yourself being located at this point. Before moving on to the next point, you should feel a sense of warmth and heaviness at this spot.

      3. Move through each point in sequence
      In the same manner, successively focus your attention on each of the first thirty-one points. Proceed slowly, and imagine you self being located at each point as you reach it. Feel the sense of warmth and heaviness before moving on. Do not allow your mind to wander. At first you may find this difficult to do: you will find that at times you suddenly will forget that you are doing the exercise and start daydreaming or thinking about something else. IF you lose your place, return to the beginning or the last numbered point you attended to, and continue. Practice with thirty-one points until you can attend to them all in sequence without daydreaming or losing track.

      4.Extend your practice to include all sixty-one points
      When you can attend to thirty -one points in sequence, repeat steps 1 and 2 with all sixty-one points. Practice this until you can do all points without losing your focus. Now you are ready to use this exercise with lucid dreaming induction techniques.

      I'm at my desk at work. There is an older man sitting by me but I don't recognize him. He is holding an internet router with ethernet cables coming out of four different directions on it. He seems excited to have this device. There was more but I took too long to record. Snooze alarms may be having a strong negative impact on my recall.

      Ignoring Work and the Jungle
      I'm at my desk at work. My coworker D is sitting next to me explaining something. Others nearby are listening intently, but I decide that it isn't important and ignore him. I tell him that. He thinks it is funny. No hard feelings. Dream feels lighthearted.

    15. Idea: Meditation To Practice Walk Control (Sensei's Post)

      I came across a 2015 post by Sensei about active versus passive control:

      In there, he makes an analogy about walking to the fridge and how that is a simple learned behavior for us, but challenging to his son who was taking his first steps. In a similar way, confidence and skill to achieve lucid dreaming goals can be attained.

      Memory control is a similar idea, but has an obvious flaw: when one is doing something new there is no memory to pull on. Sensei suggests (if I am understanding correctly) to essentially pretend there is a memory of yourself achieving whatever goal that is.

      My idea to execute on that is to visualize myself practicing something like Firebending from Avatar: The Last Airbender while meditating normally. This can then serve as the memory needed to achieve actual dream control in a lucid dream.
