It's an absolutely stunning movie. It's animated in claymation or maybe 3D.
Sad and funny and just a really nice story.

Thought so, but some bits looked way too good to not be CGI. Crazy animators lol

Tangled. It was funny - loved the horse - but it seemed kind of bland for some reason.

My nephew made me watch it 2-3 times after I got my mom's Netflix working on her tv last time I was there. I'd agree--it was tolerable and worth some laughs, but nothing special.

Last night I half-watched Blitz, with Jason Statham. It was watchable if you're doing other things, but probably not worth a couple hours of your life by itself

Vanilla Sky just ended in my TV.
It was really confusing, and I didn't understood, that way they explained "Lucid Dreaming".
I guess it was OK. Maybe it's better the second time I'm watching it.

Special thanks to Darkmatters for my signature picture.

You do know this was a comedy horror, right? The cheesy effects were intentional (as was the dialogue). I remember watching it with my friends, realizing about 15 minutes in that Sam Raimi did it and he also did Army of Darkness as well as Evil Dead. I watched it as a horror comedy after that, and it was just awesome.

So far 2 movies in 2 days at the theater:

      Contagion
Contagion is an epidemic movie with Matt Damon, Laurerence Fishburne, Marion Cotillard, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Gwenth Paltrow. The movie did a lot of good things that kept it well paced. The audience was REALLY annoying with one woman asking if a guy who looks nothing like Bruce Willis was Bruce Willis, loudly, to her husband. The couple next to me literally never stopped talking in whispers, and the entire crowd would laugh at non-funny scenes (when Gwenth Paltrow is having a seizure, for example, wasn't in any way funny). This movie is really good at not overhyping the dangers of an epidemic, and it does a very good job overall. I don't want to go too much into the story because while you really can't spoil a movie like this, it is worth going into without any hype.

      4/5

      Apollo 18
Going in, I was told the movie had REALLY bad reviews. I try to avoid reviews before a movie so as to go in with a blank slate. This allows me to form my own opinion.

I didn't hate this movie. There were a few stupid things like the aliens were literally moon crabs with pinchers, and the guy decided to go into a really dark crater after his infected teammate fell in. The panning was really annoying in that it was cut out a lot. Also, they would circle movement in the background with a lighter circle. Overall though, the movie had a nice bit of authenticity in its filming style, which worked pretty well, and I got a good sense of the claustrophobia despite being in a very open environment. It has a pretty slow build too.

      3.5/5

Wow. This was a damn good movie with some minor flaws. The flaws first:

      - The MMA tournament probably wouldn't be allowed to happen. One of the things that UFC does is for any knockouts, you can't fight for a few months, and I am pretty sure the winner can't fight for a least a few weeks. This is to prevent against concussions and brain damage. In the movie, the tournament was done over 4 days, I believe.
      - The actual tournament is built up through vignettes. I liked this, but it seemed so haphazard in its creation.

Other than that, the last 30 minutes may have been the closest I ever got to crying in a movie. I got chills. I felt the raw emotion of the movie, and I just felt happy to experience this movie.

The acting was top notch, and I really don't have much else to say. Go see it.

      Yeahh, Fight Club's amazing.

So yesterday I bought X-Men: First Class on bluray. It's a great movie; I actually watched it twice over within a day... McAvoy and Fassbender completely stole the show.

I watched Mary and Max the other night, and it was pretty cool. I don't know that I'll watch it again, but it's one of those stories you wouldn't expect to get told, much less in claymation. It almost had an Amelie or Triplets of Belleville randomness to it, though more melancholy. It managed to have a lot of dark humor without being cynical, and a lot of pathos without being pathetic.

Yeah Adam Elliot is known for telling those kinds of stories, and the fact that he uses claymation takes a lot of the sting out. He uses a totally minimalist approach, almost no movement for the most part - and lets the voice actor convey the emotion and drama. Here's one of his earlier shorts from when he worked mostly alone:

Through it you can find his other work - Brother, Cousin, Uncle, and the award-winning Harvey Krumpet, which I think he did right before launching Mary and Max, his first feature-length film and first time he really directed other animators rather than doing it himself I believe.

If it counts as a movie, I watched Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave.

It gave me nightmares when I was younger.

      ... IF??!! IF??!!?!?!??

      What else would it be?

I do get what you mean though - it's a short, not a feature. LOVE Wallace and Gromit - my fave being Grand Day Out actually.

Just watched the new Wall Street.
Money Never Sleeps I think it was.

Good movie. 8/10 just because I didn't really get what was happening in the beginning.
I've seen the first one, so it wasn't because of that.

Great movie, I'm getting it on blu ray when it comes out! (Although the theatrical 3D re-release is probably just a cash-grab).

Watched Shaun of the Dead yesterday. Loved it.
