For your local news to say that the chicken came first, is to say that evolution doesn't exist |
|
Forgive me if this is in the wrong area or if it is a repeated question, but I really want to know the answer. I saw on my local news today that they finally solved the age-old mystery. Apparently, the chicken came first. They didn't explain why, and when I tried to look it up I found tons of articles that said the egg came first. |

No It was TMJ4 news. They only spend like a few seconds talking about it and didn't explain why or how scientists found out that the chicken came first. |

Can we get a link to the story by any chance? |
|
I looked on their site but couldn't find the link to it |

Yeah it was on Yahoo news as well. The chicken came first. |

"Don't kill me. I'm in a dream right now, and if you kill me I'll die in real life too!" -Me, age 5-8, talking to a dinosaur.
As is gravitation. |

Damn chicken creationists! |

Y'all are dumb as dirt. The answer here depends on which informational viewpoint you put more value on (and no, I'm not talking about creationism/evolution, but rather whether you consider a protein change in a living creature the *key step*, or the product of that change, the egg, a new individual). What's more important than a one-word answer is to understand the ongoing processes at work here. |

I don't know how popular paleontology is, but eggs have been around a hell of a lot longer than chickens. |

The chicken must come first because in order to have a chicken egg, it must be created from a certain protein from a chicken. |

*Type of egg was never specified. |

Forgot to add my opinion. |

If there were ever a question which we ought not to dignify with a response, it's this one. Being genuinely interested in this question is the intellectual equivalent to being fascinated by the "removable thumb" magic trick. Seriously, stop posting in this thread. |

But the "removable thumb" magic trick is pure awesomeness. |
|
Whoa, where did the thumb go??? |

Actually, the chicken came first. Research has found that the modern-day chicken egg is the product of a genetic mutation from the first chicken. The shell requires a specific protein that was absent until the first chicken as we know it today evolved. |
