How has lucid dreaming changed your waking life?

I have a question for experienced lucid dreamers.

How has lucid dreaming changed your waking life?

Since I'm new here I will give a brief history of my lucid dreaming. I have been lucid dreaming since I was a kid. Maybe an average of 3 to 6 times a year. Recently I have started recording my dreams using my ipod touch (I record the audio). The first three months I had two LDs a month. Last month (May) I had ten. It is getting easier to have them. However, one of the biggest changes I have noticed is in my waking life. I seem to be focusing more on the world around me. I appreciate more things. I seem to be more awake.

I'd like to know how you have been affected.

Exactly!!! That happened to me too! After I read a guide for awareness I started to watch the world differently being more focused and what you said: appreciate more things! In cases where I would need some coffee now I use the awareness technique, its dumb but it works very well. The power of our minds is amazing.
I was going to post it some day, but I see you did. I must say that lucid dreaming, or at least trying to do it, changed my entire life.

I started to give less attention to physical things and give more attention to what really matter, relationships

It has made me more aware and more calm in my waking life. I always laugh when others get so upset over small things, like my family in the car whenever we get a red light, or when I'm playing video games with my friends and they get pissed at nothing. Sure it's annoying getting beaten in a video game but it doesn't upset me and I shrug it off after just a couple seconds. If you would've asked me how I act when I play video games 3 years ago it would be much different from how I act now.

It also keeps me open minded

It's good to hear such positive results from what you have learned. The techniques can be great for reaffirmation of self and a new outlook on much of the real world.

I'm sure others could say the same. It's be neat to hear more perspective on this.

      I'm new here as well.
The biggest change I've seen in my life from lucid dreaming is probably my creativity. I'm much more creative in monster design and other areas of artistic interest. I also have an improved interest in dreaming in general.

Hmm. As far as lucid dreaming goes I don't think it has changed my waking life. Maybe it has boost my awareness a bit. And has given me something to look forward to at night.

But I will say that dreamviews has changed my life. I have met many amazing people here. People who have given me help, given me company, and taught me lessons. Im very thankful for this place.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

I agree Lucid dreaming has not really changed my life, although having an ld has a major positive effect on your mood for the day. On my lucid dreaming journey I also came across DV, I haven't been on any other forum in like three months.

I think it is part of what helped me learn to control my emotions and thoughts in my formative adolescent years. In dreams, you have to be very careful how you let your emotions run, because it can affect the dream. Since I learned how to flex that muscle through dreaming, I think I was able to do it when I was awake. One of those things that become easy once your brain knows the neural pathways.

Thanks for all of the feedback. It's nice to know that others have experienced what I have experienced.

Many people tell me it has changed me completely.
I think it has just brought out the real me.
'The petals dance through the wind,
The crimson blood shimmers on the snow,
The shattered heart weeps of hidden sorrow.
And over a pure white sky,
      rises a black moon.'

This is true for me. At least 3 weeks ago I had a great LD. I had been working on this one idea and when I became lucid I actually decided to try it and succeeded. The next day or too I felt so positive that it showed. My cousin randomly told me that I was different and positive out of the blue. I then told him what happened in my LD.

Its been about year since I really got into dreaming. I, and others, notice that my overall awareness of the world has increased immensely since then. Despite this, because of my continuous motive to question reality, I'm not sure whether this new awareness has increased my open-mindedness or has turned me into more of a skeptic.

As I am still in a pretty early stage of LDing and haven't really started noticing (or maybe I haven't gotten there) something comprehensible. What has happened though, as a sentient decision, is to make myself more aware of my surroundings. I strongly believe that if LD padawans do this they will reassure themselves in this world and get their feet more steadily grounded in the earth, lucid dreams or no lucid dreams.
A few times a day I just stop for a few seconds and really observe what is going on, be it that I'm on a walk and watch the wind caressing the leaves and branches of an old oak or I might be watching my children playing... Whatever it is, this kind of behaviour is never ever negative.

What I'm trying to say here is that, no... Nothing has really changed me - yet.
