The RCing in relation to dreams will just take time and practice. Keep doing it and eventually it will translate. Don't worry so much and don't try to rush things. Your LDs will come. Just keep positive.
If you are seeing out of your mind's eye...that is a good thing. Looking at the darkness in your eyelids is just a step trying to get you to this >>>>> "seeing out of your mind's eye." Once you are doing that, you will start to slowly see your thoughts turn to scenes/images (usually blurry at first), but they will begin to clear up. Make sure you keep in the back of your mind that you are trying to WILD because here is where many people fall asleep normally. Just kick back, relax, and passively observe what your mind's eye has in store for you.
Those 4 second tingling/heart rate is SP starting/trying to kick in. It is Hypnagogic Pulsing (HP) (I made that term up, but that is what I call it, lol). It feels as if your body is pulsing with vibration/buzzing and your hearing is usually intensified during the pulse as well. If this is happening then you are good. Just stay relaxed and keep letting it pulse. Just feel for and anticipate that next pulse. After a bit of this, SP sinks in and you are now ready to prep for the transition. Stay calm and relaxed, and just let that pulsing takeover your body.
