I would loan you Death Note, but the Hunger Games series belongs to my son. I can't loan that out. |

My judgement on the Hunger Games comes from reading about 25% of the first book, but it's enough to get the jist. Yes, it is like Battle Royale to a degree. Not just that, but many "games of death" books, film and video games preempted this insanely popular series as well as countless dystopian government stories. The problem isn't that it exists, it's that many of its loyal fans seem to describe it as a godsend of originality, having likely overlooked many of the fine works it built upon. I could even tolerate this much if the reading level and size of the font (double spaced) didn't shout out "book for light readers" on every page. I realize there are still older themes--I've gotten far enough to see some very interesting things happen--but the narration is at times unnecessarily simplistic (Today's author mantra is "make it simple," I say, okay, it probably sells real well, but I'm still going to go read some 19th century novels when things were more intricately articulated). |

Well it is a story aimed at teens, not adults. So, yeah, it's going to be an easier read than 19th century novels. It may not be SUPER original, but it is a GREAT story with many twists that keep you on your feet. Once you get into its hard to stop. You feel so many emotions while reading it, which is what makes it a good story...not the fancy wording. |

thanks. i spent my nights and early mornings walking around or staring at nothing. i was too afarid to fall asleep or go into a shelter because all the stuff i carried with me may end up stolen when i wake up. i ended up sleeping at the beach in the late mornings. all the crazy people come out late nights and early mornings. it was only for 2 days so it wasn't that bad. |
|
So, forgive me if I've missed something, but I never did see how you ended up in this position. May I ask what happened? |

i was 2 months behind in rent so i ended up on the streets because i could no longer afford to pay rent. i packed up a few things including my labtop computer. on the second day i ended up at a barnes and nobles bookstore speaking to a relative online saying they can help me out. so they paid for me to stay at a hotel until they can get an airline ticket over there in new york. so now i'm there but need to fly back to settle a court dispute with my landlord. |

I don't think very many people actually like me. I don't think that they dislike me, but they never realy seem to want to be friends. I can guess what part of the problem is; I probably come across as some kind of know-it-all. I am the kind of guy who was allways scoring in the 98+ percential on standardized tests, but that is not my fault. I also have put way to much time and practice into lucid dreaming, internal yoga and martial arts. I am not so much a geek or nerd, thats not really it. I have always been able to have nice girlfriends, but that is a differant kind of relationship. I wish I could come across as approachable and not such a know-it-all. |

Holy crap! That's awesome! What kind of car do you have? |

Dreamviews is keeping me from falling asleep and I have to get up early tomorrow. Dreamviews tends to pull you in. If only I could get off DV then I could sleep. I think I have an addiction... |

Me too, Mancon. >.< |

Thanks for the reply Ges, nice to hear someone else agrees with me. I don't necessarily hate plagiarism (otherwise we wouldn't be able to build on each others' ideas), but I do hate it when a great original idea (Battle Royale) is ripped off and then people praise the rip-off for its originality. |

Zebrah actually reads this thread? O_o |

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!
Ugh, I slept way too much yesterday. I ended up going back to sleep at around 3AM-7:30. I tossed and turned and woke myself from a spooky dream. |

Some girl even younger than me ran a red light and hit me in an intersection. Now all I can think of is STOP PANIC. |

My mom's minivan. It's got a huge dent in the side of it where that girl plowed into me. I was able to drive it home though. |

You do have the girl's phone number right to hopefully make her pay for the damage? Because you shouldn't be blamed for this if it was the girl being careless. |
|
She claims the I ran the red, I say she did. They're going to have to do a damn investigation. |

Owch man, hopefully the girl isn't hot and won't show her breasts to authorities to give herself a one-up. |

That fucked. I wonder if they'll figure it out. Hopefully there were cameras or something. |

I drive a 2010 GMC Acadia SLT. The dimming rear-view mirror is a nice feature. It might be connected to the back-up camera, not sure. |

Sitting around drinking by yourself.. that's kinda sad, isn't it? Truth to be told I'd rather get high, but that would require something to get high on... |
