Where would you go during a zombie apocalypse? How would you prepare?

Where would you go? How do you prepare? Would be prepared if one happened tonight? Explain.

I would set up shop on a second story apartment with an external, wooden staircase so I can burn the staircase and set up a rope ladder to and from the hide-out. I would turn the roof into a garden to grow fruit and vegetables, as well as a rain collector. I'd also set up some solar or wind power devices (you can collect wind energy pretty easily) and raise rodents like guinea pigs in a cage for protein. I would try to stock up on canned foods while this whole process is taking off but hopefully, eventually I'd be able to create a self-sufficient community to house around 10 people or so. We'll mostly try to kill pestering zombies by setting up silent traps on the ground below which can be activated using a series of ropes, pulleys, gears, whatever we can use to manage the traps from the exterior deck/walkway. We'd also need guns with silencers and bicycles to handle ground missions in the case of illness, drought, etc.

But I gotta bring this back to reality. While it's fun to imagine zombies in the classical way, I think if we had a water shortage people would become so dehydrated they'd become delirious, desperate and violent to the point of presenting a very dangerous threat to themselves as well as others in their need to seek water. You would see people acting very much like zombies, in this instance. So while people are busy figuring out how to fight off the walking dead, I'm going to figure out how to fight off the desperately dehydrated because that threat is much more probable.

Though it makes you more sympathetic, after all if you're not one of them that obviously means you have water and could share, it's survival of the fittest we're talking about and people will defend their water with their lives as well as their guns. Many of the same rules as dealing with zombies would still apply. The only difference is we wouldn't worry about getting bitten so much as just protecting our safehouse and water supply.

I would venture a few feet away to the huge garage my hubby just built (two stories, some areas accessible only by a very tall ladder or electric lift) . We have a nice 2 year or so supply of water already out there. He has survival food in his house for about 3 years, so we'd make cautious trips there to grab everything we need. Hubby's a licensed gun collector, so we already have a small arsenal of various weapons I'd be very prepared.

The human factor on the other hand... I'm a push over and my hubby's a hard ass so we would probably make it. He'd be very cautious about letting anyone near. It would be hard on me emotionally to see him turn so many people away. But I would live longer no doubt...

I would probably turn people away too if I were him. More people = more mouths to feed.

Yeah, making sure you have food and water would probably be one of the greatest challenges for the survivors. I always thought that if this ever happened, it would probably be hard for me to be generous with anybody except my family and one other person. I live in sort of the country part of town and we have a well, but that would dry up quickly if we're not careful. We also had sheep and goats that could have been used for food but we recently got rid of them all.

I guess since my place is completely fenced off, I would consider staying there, but then again, we don't have a garden or animals anymore. My second option would be an amusement park, dead serious. At a Sixflags park, it's completely fenced off and there's plenty of food there and you can take shelter at some of the roller coaster stations. You could probably wait it out until all the zombies starve. The only problem is that park would be like a 3 hour drive So maybe I would go to a park more close by.

I think my weapon of choice would be a baseball bat or an axe so you won't have to worry about ammo so much.

You gotta admit, building a cheap stair case and replacing it with a rope when you get to the top (assuming zombies won't know how to climb) is pretty genius.

I lol'd so much at this because it literally makes no sense lol
Why not just find any two story apartment if you're just gonna burn the staircase anyway? lol

This will never get old though, someone could post a thread about this every year and I'd keep coming back for more.

I definitely would not be prepared if it happened tomorrow though.
But I'd stock up on food, petrol, and water. Heaps of buckets on the roof held in place with clean bricks inside them, plant heaps of veggies and make some various weapons out of whatever I can find. We have a water tank so I'd be ok on that front. But I'd stock up just in case, with bottled water.

I'm thinking back to an apartment I used to live at. The ony access to the second story were external staircases. We could hack them up and still have access to the walkway/deck via rope ladders.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

I would head across the river to the National Guard base. It is fenced, well fortified, has plenty of strong individuals I can count on, lots of acres for growing food and a deer population. It has nearby access to the river, plenty of shelter, plenty of weapons, skilled people to provide necessary services, and even bunkers if necessary.

But the greatest thing they have is tanks and helicopters. Zombies would be helpless against either one, and both would aid in a necessary escape, should the need arise.

I have actually debated this a lot with my son, who has read many books on zombies.

I'd haul up in a cinema and have Bill Murraython (see what I did there?). Probably not an effective way to survive but an awesome way to die.

It would depend on many factors, but I like to think it would be exactly like l4d.

In real life I expect my femaleness would aid me in joining some group of people due to a natural protectiveness toward fertile females, although I'm not great at predicting human behavior, so maybe I'd just be rejected.

If I heard literally right now that there was a zombie apocalypse, I don't know, I'd try to find guns right away and am not sure how I'd go about doing that because we have none and I don't know of any gun stores or anything. For the time being I'd probably bring a butcher knife and go out in search of people or guns or something, knowing that I'd likely die if I didn't find them quickly, but I'd want to get out as early as possible before the zombie population became so dense that it would be impossible to leave my house and then I'd surely die. I don't wanna be raped but I suppose it would be inevitable in a situation like that, unless I find some group of protective people quickly. I don't think very highly of humans.

However, if it happened right now, I would probably take my girlfriend to the airbase nearby and hope we could get in. There would probably be a mass pilgrimmage there however, and there are only fences protecting it which could be easily overrun by rioters or zombies.

So if that didn't pan out and if I had the resources, I would get myself and the girlfriend, maybe a few other peeps too, a car with lots of provisions and drive off into the highlands. I know a few cosy, mostly uninhabited places on the west coast. Find a body of water to float in on a boat, assuming they can't swim or climb anchors. Wouldn't have to worry about water, and would just need to make regular raids to shore to get food and other supplies.

The house that I currently live in could easily be barricaded off. There is a little river thing within walking distance (less than a kilometer). It is fairly close to the city though, so I fear it might not be the best of positions. Food is the biggest issue, from what I can see. Obviously we'd have to use melee weapons, since guns are basically non-existent in Denmark.

I would move to the Principality of Sealand, an abandoned World War II anti-aircraft platform seven miles off the English coast. In 1967, retired British Army major Paddy Roy Bates occupied the abandoned platform in the North Sea, northeast of London and opposite the mouth of the Orwell River and Felixstowe. He and his wife discussed independence with British attorneys and subsequently declared independence for the Principality of Sealand on September 2, 1976. Bates called himself Prince Roy and named his wife Princess Joan. They began issuing coins, passports, and stamps for their new country. In support of The Principality of Sealand's sovereignty, Prince Roy fired warning shots at a buoy repair boat that came close to Sealand. The Prince was charged with unlawful possession and discharge of a firearm by the British government. The Essex court proclaimed that they didn't have jurisdiction over the tower and the British government chose to drop the case due to mockery by the media. That case represents Sealand's entire claim to de facto international recognition as an independent country. The United Kingdom demolished the only other nearby tower lest others get the idea to also strive for independence, regardless of the threat of zombies.
