Question Advanced LDers, how often do you RC?

If this isn't in the right place, feel free to move it.

My question is for "advanced" or heavily experienced LDers (100+ LDs). How often do you RC? I'm fully aware that once you get in the habit of regularly becoming lucid, the need to RC diminishes somewhat, so how often did you RC when you were starting and how is that number in relation to how often you RC now that you are more experienced?

tl;dr How many times a day do you RC?

Whenever I daydream during the day. Around 5-25 times. Depends if I am planning to get lucid that night or the next.

Five or six times a day, following a brief session of heavy awareness. This usually happens whenever I remember to do so, or am really tired.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

When I started out I thought about reality checks in the morning and everytime the thought of reality checking popt up in my mind during they day I used that to reality check.
Now I never do a single reality check, except for in my dreams. And during the day I sometimes just stop and look around and really focus on what I see, but I'm just being aware not reality checking.
Dreams are not just like a movie that you recall in the morning. I read Stephen Laberge's book where he said that dreams feels like real experiences where you make choices and it feels real, but I didn't understand what he meant by that, because back then I recalled my dreams like "movies". Today I have pracctised my recall and awareness for two years, and now my dreams feels a lot more vivid. Because now I am more aware of them, to describe the feeling: Imagine that you are dreaming right now, although you are not aware of it, but suddenly you see your computer starting to bounce up and down. You think "Hmm that is weird.." Now you walk to your kitchen and you see a pink elephant drinking milk, now you think "Hmm somethings wrong"

The same awareness you have in your waking life is how your dreams feels like when you are more aware of them, and it's here lucidity comes more easily, because you are trained to realise that you might be dreaming.

This alone is nice because my dreams are like a new adventure every time, depending on what I dream of course. But I want a more controlled way of induce lucid dreams, so I DEILD.
But that's a chapter of it's own, but work on your recall and your daily awareness and you will start having spontanous lucid dreams even without reality checks, but remember to do them in the dreams.

When I was starting, I did 5-10 RC's a day. Usually when I caught myself zoning out and daydreaming.

Now I only RC when I WBTB, right after I wake up.
Other than that, I no longer RC.

I can't wait until I don't have to do anything and still have lucid dreams. Sure, you might call it lazy or whatever, but you will only get to that point by having earned it through extensive R.C.ing and WBTB'ing and that.

So I can't wait until I earn the place to not have to R.C. to have a lucid dream, or to pick what nights I have a lucid dream.

I almost want to get to the point where I sometimes decide I don't feel like having a lucid dream, they are so easy to acquire.

      Awesome!

I tend to be more likely to do RCs at night, usually around 10 when I'm starting to fall asleep. This is usually when I take a shower and stuff too, so I often end up RCing a few times in the shower. Sometimes I think I do more RCs in there than anywhere else. xD

Haha, me too! I don't know why I do so many RCs in shower, maybe it's because I'm bored.
I'm also more aware, because of the water.

I've been LD'ing for over thirty years, and have had thousands of LD's. Getting lucid is relatively easy these days, but you know what? I still do many RC's every day -- sometimes a few times an hour. Want to hear something even more ironic? I never do RC's in my dreams.

Odd, huh? To me not really, because for me these days RC's are less exercises to make sure that the place I'm standing in is real than they are almost triggers for almost Zen-like awareness during waking life. Keeping that awareness honed is what helps keep me able to become lucid pretty easily, and without needing Dr. LaBerge's tricks.

Bottom line, RC's are likely a tool you will never stop using, thanks to their simplicity.

In the conscious world? Never. The only RC's I do these days are in dreams. Then the fun begins.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Follow up question, what's your favorite RC and why? Mine are hands because they always work for me. I remember once having thirteen fingers on one hand. Another time each finger split off into two more at the tips. Freaking awesome. Second favorite would be the nose since I can do it safely while driving.

I like to look at my hands, but my favourite is the nose plug reality check, because that never fails me

      I'm not really advanced but,
Probably about five times a day, this is after Puffin's SAT techniuqe though, never by itself, unless something strange happens, and I went to check quickly.

Usually when I wake up, maybe when I go to sleep.
But usually only when questionable events happen, so they work properly

I don't RC a lot. I focus more on awareness than anything else - seems to provide better results.

My favourite is definitely the nose-plug, hands down. If I try to count my fingers in a lucid, sometimes my mind has some sort of "hiccup" where I'm not sure if I counted the fingers properly, so I end up having to count them again.

I often count my fingers first, then use the nose-plug right after.

I havn't been lucid dreaming much lately, but when i used to be good i did it somewhere between 40-60 times a day. I nod off alot and it really helped out. I was getting 4-5 a week.

When I first started lucid dreaming I tried a lot of reality checking but that barely got me anywhere. I got lazy and stopped doing the RCs for a while and started having a bunch of lucid dreams out of nowhere. After that they just kept coming and I never reality check, not even in my dreams. I lucid dream almost every day now. Nowadays I'm experimenting on what kind of lucid dream I want, I picked WILDs instead of WBTB or DILD. So a lot of times now when im falling asleep I realize it out of nowhere. I barely have to do anything.

When bored at work I RC probably once an hour or so, more often when I'm browsing these forums as well.

Also, my chat client has a status and I have it set as, "You are dreaming." Which helps as well.

Maybe 2 or 3 times on a good day. I don't do much rcs in dreams anymore. I just instantly know I am dreaming.
