How long did it take YOU?

Hey guys, new here. I'm just now starting out, and I think I'm getting the general gist of things, but I'm wondering...how long did it take to get your first LD?

5 days after joining but I think I was lucky I mostly hear people say after two or three months
"For a long time it gave me nightmares, having to witness an injustice like that. It was a constant reminder of how unfair this world can be, I can still hear them taunting him. 'Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!'... How come they just couldn't give him some cereal?"

Three weeks of diligent RCing and mantra-saying, though I recommend doing a visual MILD now.

      Hi, welcome to Dreamviews!

Two days after joining; I think this is because I really increased my awareness and sporadically questioned reality throughout the day. Although there isn't really a "set" amount of time it takes to get one.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

As Puffin said, there's no set amount of time for each person. Everyone thinks, sleeps, and dreams differently. If you keep working towards your goal of becoming lucid, though, you will!

As for me, it was two weeks, and then one week later I had my second LD.

      Welcome to DV!

Thank you all for the feedback. I haven't attained lucidity yet, but I'm optimistic. If anything I've improved recall tremendously, remembering at minimum two dreams a night for a few nights in a row

That's it, don't jump the gun. Just practice remembering you normal dreams for a while until you get an inventory of what you usually dream about. It wouldn't hurt though to go ahead and start practicing awareness though. Oh and it took me about 3 weeks for my first one, even though it ended basically instantly.

The idea is to remain in a constant state of departure while always arriving..

I just had my first one last night, and while it wasn't very long I was definitely lucid. I joined here about three weeks ago I guess, so that's about how long it took. You're definitely on the right track if you're working on your dream recall though. Journaling is absolutely the best way to eventually achieve lucidity.

6 years before i even knew what lucid dreaming was. I would just control and destroy stuff. Fun times. But dreamviews really helps out awareness and increases how many you have. Thats for sure

It took me a few months before I had one. It ended nearly instantly. I've had a few since, but I always have very low levels of control

Ah well. Diligence and practice make perfect.

      EDIT: OH WAIT

I had a DEILD just a few days after joining this site that I totally forgot about, but it was very short. THEN I didn't have any for quite a while.

I'm sure it varies massively from persom to person. I for one have been keeping a dream diary for 5 months, and doing RCs for about 3 weeks, and I still haven't had any success (and MAN I'm bitter about it). Keep trying

I had my first LD about 3 days after learning about lucid dreaming and actively reading and studying about it. However, The very first time I tried to induce one using the canwild method, it was absolute success.. The most incredible feeling ever, and the shortest I have ever had, about 5 seconds lol... I saw a poll a while back were a lot of people participated and it was about how long it took to have their first lucid dream, Most people on the poll said it took 2 weeks for their first ld, so I would say if you continue working at it, you should expect your first experiences in a few days to a few weeks at most.. unless you are one of those rare freaks like "spectrum" and life just sucks for you haha.. just kidding man

8 years??? How did you manage to be motivated for eight years with no result...?

Walms can correct me if I am wrong, but I think he mean't that it took him 8 years to induce one using the techniques such as Wild and things.. He was probably having DILDS most of this time though...

I am sure every dreamer is different. From 5 days to 8 years it is so worth it to actually learn lucid dreaming.

Excluding the early childhood nightmares: to complete lucid dreaming purposely for me, was after 3 months.

When I started deliberate effort it took me two weeks, though I'd had sporadic (and short) LDs throughout my life.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.
