Dream 1 - Fork in the Streams
Scene 1 - Sun Temple Ruins One Mile From Home
The visuals were clear. I was going out for a walk around my neighborhood as part of my exercise routine, doing so during a cloudy near-dusk.
Later, I go further south than usual. The surroundings changed drastically, from a suburbs to the site of ancient ru*ins deep within a tropical forest. There, I met up with this explorer lady, an athletically built bronze skinned brunette dressed in worn hiking gear. She seemed a bit surprised to see anyone else there, yet was quick to have me follow. Not that it was a problem; I was already quite intrigued.
Soon into our travel, we found a massive palm tree, its coconuts each the size of wreckings ball. She'd offered a race to the top. I started my way up, but quickly realize this was an unlikely climb. Not that it mattered, since the explorer admitted she was joking.
Some more walking and an awkward moment of silence later, I spotted the sun peeking through the clouds. Even though it was supposedly twilight, the sun appeared high above the western sky, and yet, was giving off red-orange light as if it was already in the horizon. Its beams highlighted an object placed atop a ruined carved pillar, some kind of mineral orb. Beneath it was a stone statue of a human-sized gorgon (of the snake-tail-in-place-of-legs, pleasant-faced variety), created in such a way so as to be reaching for the sphere. Actually, this statue seemed unnaturally realistic and well preserved. Realizing I'd powers, I floated up for a closer look at both.
"I wouldn't touch that", warned the fellow traveller. "You wouldn't like it when it's awake."
"Heheh, yeah, I knew that", I responded sheepishly.
I took a moment to make faces and silly gestures at the statue. Perhaps a moment too long for my companion, for she was already much further ahead. Once I caught up, I found we were at the entrance of a modernized city. This landscape was built near a wide forked river, each stream incredibly wide. We didn't seem to know exactly where this was, but guessed it must've been somewhere in one of the Pacific States. Unknown transition.
Scene 2 - Dead Mall
The visuals were quite dim. I was inside the second highest level of a desolate mall. The adventurer above was with me as well. There was no power in the site, and, save for some stray toppled furniture, it was mostly bare.
It soon became apparrent why this place was abandoned: the living dead were amok. Most of these dead consisted of walking skeletons. They weren't openly hostile. Yet, like machines gone awry, their brisk, aimless movement gave them a penchant to violently crash into things, a great danger to both themselves and anything in their path.
The explorer and I cleared a way through these skeletons, quite easily, given their fragility. While pushing through, we tried keeping near the edge of platforms. Risky business, but it allowed effortless disposal of any undead that bumbled in too close.
Eventually, we found tubular slides leading to the lower floor. I elected to cover our retreat. As the woman slid down, I was suddenly accosted by a 'zombie mage', if the living corpse's wizard hat and robes were any indication. The creature and I struggled a bit, our grapple unwittingly taking us down the slide. Once at the bottom, the zombie drew the surrounding skeletons towards me. At such rate, I woulda been mauled for sure. In reaction, I let out a shockwave, blowing each of the living dead to pieces. I wasn't all that happy having to release so much power on a 'chump fight', and an avoidable one at that. Although I felt it wasn't anywhere near everything I had, there was no telling how much I would need later... Things get unclear. Unknown transition.
Scene 3 - Vegeta Fight Several Seasons Too Early
The visuals were slightly blurred. Spectator mode. I was watching an episode of classic Dragon Ball. This was mostly just kid Goku flying around on his nimbus. But later, Goku was attacked by Vegeta, not a fight that would occur so early. There were plenty more discrepancies to Vegeta, such his miscolored hair and armor (much as it was very early in his actual first appearances), his greatly reduced strength (though still much greater than Goku's), and, above all, his going by a completely different name. Supposedly, this character was created by one of Toriyama's subordinates, and was intended to appear this early in the series, but shelved for later. Unknown transition.
Scene 4 - Unprofessional Baseball Riot
The visuals were dim. I was playing baseball in a poorly lit domed stadium. This was a supposed semi-professional game, each teams consisting of both men and women of a fairly wide age range. I myself was both catcher and captain for my team.
First few innings went in our favor. But later on, our pitcher made a bad call, leading to the current hitter getting a two-run homer. Our team's coaches called for time. We made an agreement to bring in a replacement pitcher, a short college age girl, and the latest member of the fold. But, as she went to stand, one of the other players blurted doubts on her experience. The girl went livid. A big commotion stirred up, starting solely with our team, then embroiling the other as well. Cue riot. By the end of this, our group was banned from playing the next few games. Unknown transition.
Scene 5 - A Brief Lucid Return to Fork Stream City
The visuals were clear. I was in the outskirts of a large city, cloudy twilight above. I launch myself to the heavens. But, it seemed to take an inordinate amount of time to get through the clouds. Things blurred up. This somehow brought awareness. Took a moment to rub hands. Eventually, I finally made it above the haze and to the clear twilight sky. I flew to the horizon, past a whole ocean and green continent. In time, I spot a city placed around a forked river. Wait, didn't I see this before? Kinda dropped lucidity. I landed, where I met up with an unknown supposed fellow traveller. Much as in a previous scene, we debated what city this was. Unknown transition.
Scene 6 - DreamView's FireFlyMan - Coming Soon to a Theatre Near You
Similar visuals. I was seated in a fast food place. Characters from various media were about. This included Jasper from Steven Universe and a random Saiyan entering the store, both in the middle of a lewd joke. At a distant table, I spotted my cousin, Jason, seated by himself. Wary of his presence, I began leaving, though doubted I could do so unseen. So, I became invisible via vibration. Incidentally, this also let me phase through the walls.
Now, I was outside a riverside city, flashing lights illuminating the night sky. I made my way across a small pedestrian bridge. Contrasting the scenic view, the stench of wild beasts filled the air. Suddenly, Vegeta emerged from the depths (again miscolored and named differently), and attacks. I hold him off a bit, when another unknown figure smashes into my opponent from his flank. Worn and injured, the Saiyan prince retreats back into the water.
This new ally and myself both agreed Vegeta would return. So, we hid inside the second floor window suite of a nearby apartment building. My partner had since become Tony Stark. As we lingered, I decided to grab something from the fridge. Just then, I heard a noise, possibly one of the tenants. Whereas Tony was close enough to a hiding spot, I was practically out in the open. I reactively flickered back into invisibility just in the nick of time. There passed a little girl, rubbing her eyes in confusion, as she was sure she saw someone just then. Once given the chance, me and Tony climb out the window and jump to the streets. I glanced back up, and found a bewildered, deep tan skinned woman in her late thirties/early fourties peeking out the window.
Things rewind. I was back in the apartment. This time, instead of becoming invisible, I shrunk myself. I creeped away from the girl, only to almost get unwittingly stepped on by her guardian's (the girl's aunt, as I later overheard) bare foot. I sensed it would've been a matter of time before either spotted me. So, I flew to the window, then evoked a blinking aura around me. This light show dazzled the woman and her niece, enough so that once I stopped, they've completely lost track of me. I flew right under their noses, went out the door, then went back to the streets, restoring myself to normal size for good measure.
Just when I thought Tony (who was already outside) and I made a clean break, the woman above began shouting at us.
"Hey!", she yelled. I froze up, and did my best to look away. "Hey, you're Tony! And that's that superhero! Firefly Man, right?"
False memories affirmed this. Still, I wasn't looking for such attention. "Uh, no?"
"Yeah... yeah! That is you!" No tricking her again, it seemed. "So... what were you doing up here?"
I glanced back at her, and chuckled. "You'll have to watch tonight's news to find out.
The woman flashed a cheeky smile. "Well, good luck!"
The area is then flooded with Stark's fans. He's similarly preoccupied with a phone call, then walked elsewhere. Meanwhile, I make a call of my own, contacting my parents, both of whom were, against further reason, in on this superhero gig. They direct me to a nearby plaza, where we'd meet up.
I catch up to my travelling companion, only now, he had his role changed with an old friend, Leon. Anyway, we join up with my ma and pa. The latter starts giving random (but useful) advice. But, it seemed all but me and (partially) mom knew of his presence, while I alone could hear him. In fact, I was able to summon and un-summon dad via the phone.
Things get unclear. Our group take an elevator up a higher level in the plaza, where we discussed some plan. Transition.
Scene 7 - Dexter Lab - The Lost Potion Episode
The visuals were a bit blurrier. Spectator mode again, only with narration. I'm speaking to my brother Martin about a supposed lost episode of Dexter's Lab. This entailed the namesake boy genius acquiring a compulsion to create 'potions', an act strongly disapproved of by his parents. He later runs away from home, of which was not the one found in the series, but instead a suite in a sizeable condominium complex. Apparently, all of this was a thinly veiled allegory for some demographic, resulting in the episode and another packaged with it getting banned. Transition.
Scene 8 - Early Vegeta Resurfaces!
Similar visuals. I was walking out the above-mentioned complex during a thin overcast day.
I make my way around a deserted suburban neighborhood. False memories affirmed this was some kind of post-apocalyptic scenario.Later, I arrived by a fierce river, whole branches and similarly large debris towed violently in its muddy waters. An unknown companion was by the riverbed, waiting for me.
After a short discussion, my peer alerts me of a stench. They'd immediately reminded me of the above fight with Vegeta (still going by that unknown name), warning me to keep on alert. Soon enough, the Saiyan leaped out the water, and once again, challenges us both to a fight. While thinking of a way to deal with him, I blurted out my opponent's birth name. Somehow, this restores Vegeta's memory of his true name and heritage. Such knowledge overwhelms the prince, leaving him in a screaming fit.
I soon awaken.
Scrap Group 1
Watching Law and Order. McCoy was in one of his trademark rants.
Play wrestling with my nephew, Zalmon. Somehow, I accidentally broke his elbow. Quite a shock, until his arm magically realigned itself. He seemed ok, just a bit annoyed.
