    3. Log 1275 - Poacher Mansion Raid Collateral

      by , 10-26-2018 at 03:26 AM (Dream Logs DWN-12)
      Created Thursday 25 October 2018

Got a brief DILD, a fragment, and a long dream to note.

      Scrap Group 1
Flying around town during daytime, going south through a local street. I go at the edge of the street, when I start thinking over just what circumstances would allow me to fly in the first place. Cue lucidity. I only managed to fly across before the dream collapsed.

Playing a 3D Mario game. This was far darker in tone, and had a lot more going on screen at a time. There was a painful segment in a castle where I was required to get hurt and collect power-ups repeatedly to survive. I managed to clear the game, but got a rather bittersweet ending that involved most of the extended cast and worlds dying off.

Dream 1 - Poacher Mansion Raid Collateral

The visuals were a bit dim. I was the young leader of a traditional warrior tribe in western Africa, one of the last few of such groups in the world. Dressed in hides, feathers, and bone, armed with spears, axes, and daggers, me and four other tribesmen set out to raid a mansion, a known hideout for poachers. A "foreigner" also joined us, a ranger from the local forest. Unlike the rest of us, he was dressed in a green shirt, khakis, and hiking boots, and was armed with an old shotgun. Our mission was to infiltrate the mansion, find the enemy leader, and capture or (if necessary) kill him.

My warriors set out at twilight. From the cover of the forest, we soon arrived at the mansion's entrance. The place was isolated from the rest of civilization, which might've explained the lax security. Our group crept around the entrance all the way to the backdoor. Once inside, we paced up a nearby stairway. We head up two levels to a small room, when we heard someone passing through another stairway all the way across. The other warriors prepared themselves besides that entryway, while the ranger and I waited head on. For a brief moment, I, as myself, took a moment to reflect on the nature of violence...

Our enemy was approaching. We were ready to pounce. The figure steps out of the entryway. "Stop!", the ranger yelled suddenly. Ahead of us was a man with a grey shirt and cargo pants, the typical outfit for poachers. And yet, the now confused man and the ranger talked to each other as if they recognized one another, speaking in a Western tongue (which, to the tribesmen and I, sounded like complete gibberish). Eventually, the ranger explained that this man was actually a law enforcer going undercover. It seemed our intrusion would compromise the detective's assignment. As such, I agreed to save the raid for another time, if under protest. The agent saw us out the backdoor, and took his leave.

Still, I wasn't quite satisfied. I had us all sneak around to the front, if only to see what we were dealing with. Then, through a window on the side of the building, we spotted a large gathering of poachers, about 30 of them, all lounging around, or perhaps in some kind of group meeting. I simply observed in the shadows for a while, trying to familiarize myself with each of them. Among the most outspoken of the bunch was an older light skinned African. Maybe a lieutenant? At the time, most seemed to lack conventional weapons, and none had anything larger than a pistol.

But, it seemed I made a terrible mistake: the poachers also collected living exotic animals from all over the globe. This was made readily apparent when, from out a corner, charged a grizzly bear. With shields and spears drawn, we held our ground. The bear, in turn, stood up, ready to swipe. The perfect moment to attack. As me and three others distracted it with our shields, another warrior made an expert thrust right in the beast's jugular. We then circled around, avoiding its frenzied reprisal. Within a span of thirty seconds, the creature could no longer defend itself. A few jabs at the back of its head finally did it in.

Just then, a poacher peeked out from a side door. Acting quickly, I hurled my axe at him, planting it right between his eyes. Unfortunately, this instantly alerted the entire compound. Enemies were now flooding towards us. Warrior or not, there was no way we could take on thirty at once. We retreated as fast as we could, and we actually got a good lead on our enemies. But, as we pressed on, one of our warriors had been fatally wounded. Although he'd the willpower to keep up, and possibly survive the chase, there was still no way to save him afterwards. He opted instead to face the pursuers head on, if only to buy time...

The chase continued throughout the wilderness. Then, in a clearing, my group stumbled into an entire school's computer lab, completely out in the open. Such a discovery paralyzed us. There was nowhere else to turn, yet we did not want to involve innocents into our conflict. Woefully, the poachers didn't have the same idea. They fired into the area heedlessly. Once they'd closed in, those madmen knowingly butchered anyone in their way, adults and children alike. At that point, I was sure fighting back would accomplish nothing, only delay the inevitable for everyone. Calling out to my men, I commanded them to rescue anyone they can then retreat. I myself took hold of a small girl in a school uniform, no older than seven years, too frozen in panic to even move. Abandoning my heavier armaments, I hauled her out of the site. Guilt was
      quickly weighing in on me...

      Don't recall how this ended.

Got a DILD and DEILD to note. There were plenty of other things I recalled, though they're scraps now.

      Scrap Group 1
Something about the interface from Cataclysm DDA appearing during some mundane events. There were prompts about martial arts styles.

Watching Hokuto no Ken. A spoiler character appears much earlier than intended. Yuria thinks of helping that character out, but the two got captured by Raoh before that could happen.

At home. Uncle Dimitar was there, watching TV. An animated movie was on screen. Incidentally, the main villainess of the film had the same name as my guide.

False awakening in my bedroom at night. Lots of other beds were there, and with them, other people. Most of these were supposed acquaintances, but also included my brother Tristan. I checked the time on my phone, interrupting the others' sleep. I then 'daydreamed' about 'high quality rips'.

      Dream 1 - Treeformed Guide

The visuals started dim and slightly blurred. I falsely awakened in bed in the middle of the night. Just then, my cousins, Alayne and Edda, barged in out of nowhere, both appearing younger. They went on about an astronomical event, and wanted me to see it with them. The two went ahead while I unwounded myself. I then woke up Tristan, and told him about such. We got to the front door, but Tristan said he'd catch up later. This somehow made me realize the dream.

I phased through the door, which took a bit of effort. A very early dawn awaited me outside. High up in the sky were two full moons, one slightly golden, the other silver. In fact, there might've been a few other such heavenly bodies as well. To keep from getting too enthralled, I rubbed my hands for a half minute. Then, I exclaimed that I'd fly up in space for a better look. Indeed, I floated up a few stories high, but struggled to go further than that, even as my cousins cheered me on. So, I slowly fell backwards and phased below the asphalt, intending to teleport out of Earth.

Things fade from view. More hand rubbing. Soon, I felt cold air blowing around me. Guessed I was still in the planet's atmosphere, so I continued upwards (or my best estimation of such; I'd lost my sense of direction).

Warp. I found myself in an altered version of my neighborhood during early morning, reappearing about 25 yards or so from where I last was. I thought of going to space again, but opted to first bring my guide, E. My first attempt was a passive summons, which, unsurprisingly, had no results. Maybe a transformation would do the trick? Noticed a bunch of palm trees growing in what should be an empty lot. I glid over there, and plucked out the most massive one with ease. It was as if the tree was completely hollow. Next, I carried it off towards the sky, where I only then noticed how, uh, curvy, it looked. Anyway, with but a faint thought, I began changing the object into her likeness, if scaled up to the size of the tree itself. Although I could sense her distinct warm aura, she looked a bit different, appearing now as a slender Caucasian, though retaining her long, wavy dark brown hair.

      "E, that you?", I inquired.

"Mmhmm.", she replied sleepily, a faint smile on her face. Her voice was clearly her own.

      "You don't look like you."

"Only what you see. Don't worry about that."

Despite the advice, I tried changing her anyway, doing so by blocking sight of her face with my hand, then slowly revealing her from the chin up. At that, my guide finally took her more familiar (and plump) Asiatic form.

Her joyful grin was the last thing I saw before the dream collapsed about 10 seconds later.
      DEILD within a minute's time.

Dream 2 - Fire Fly Attacks Monkey

The visuals were slightly blurred. I was wandering between a wide alleyway within an elegant, near-futuristic city, a clear teal morning sky above. Didn't take long to regain awareness. I walked to a more open space, when I remembered the contest, my thoughts settled on getting in a fight with a rival. In this case, MadMonkey. And, just like that, he phased in view. This first appeared as a Roblox-ish figure of his avatar, which quickly changed to a realistic (if a more human, older, and ethnic-European) look of such.

"Hey, Mads.", I blurted out. "Let's fight!"

The two of us immediately took combat forms, myself using (a perhaps terrible impression of) Mantis Kung-Fu, and MadMonkey taking a Karate stance. Concurrently, dramatic music (Futatsu no Kyousei from Hokuto no Ken) sounded in the background. We circled the area, trying to catch the other off-guard. I then opened the match with Denshou Reppa (ground-cutting energy waves), releasing at least three. Each time, my fellow dreamer made an acrobatic leap to safety. Really made me look stiff by comparison. Anyway, I followed up with some Earth Bending, blasting concrete and dirt towards him, but again, he dodged without effort. Between a side-flip, MadMonkey fired an ice spike at me, which I deflected with a geyser of dirt. He then let out a wave of icy thorns. I only barely rolled away from it. After recovering, I raised two stone pillars, then had them home in on my opponent.

Things quickly blurred up. The dream deteriorated before I could react.

    6. Log 1095 - Botanical Draqueduct Trial and Other Assorted Stories

Got various things to note, though I've lost memory of several of these.

      Scrap Group 1
      Something about a highway drive.

Went to a fancy Chinese Buffet with my friend Vlad and brother Javy, the entrance priced agreeably at $6 per person. While going through the food counters, an attendant handed each of us a gigantic bucket of fried rice. I forgot it while serving myself other things, and only realized when I took my seat.

Dream 1 - Coincidental Return to My Old Job

The visuals were mostly clear. I was working again in my old job at the gas station. Coincidentally, Anthony, a former co-worker who'd left before I did, supposedly returned just a month prior. Spent quite a while catching up with ourselves, even if I'm embarrassed to admit certain matters. Later, I man the registers, only it was logged in someone else's name. Enter another presumed co-worker, a tall black guy. I realized we were never formerly introduced, but seeing as a lot of time has already passed, it would've been awkward to do so at that moment. A former boss, Paul, also showed up briefly.

Not too sure on much else. I know some woman ended up behind the registers to pick out cigarettes for herself. Don't recall how this ended.

Dream 2 - Botanical Draqueduct Trial

The visuals were slightly blurred. I was wandering around in the mid-upper levels of an apartment building, a grey sky visible out the windows. Later on, I go through walkways interconnecting the structure with adjacent buildings. These platforms got dangerously narrow at times, reduced to even a long wooden plank at its worst.

Eventually, I meet up with a striking figure, a tall woman with impressive musculature, and a forceful personality to match. She demanded I follow her into one of the buildings. Seemed unwise to not to heed as much. Inside was a series of blue stone hallways. A spectacular bloom of vines and other plantlife decorated every inch of this structure. Such vegetation grew thicker the deeper we went. And then, the plants began moving. They lashed out, forcing us further inside. As I was crossing a doorway, a shrub suddenly sprouted behind me, interposing between the woman and I. She bade I not mind her, that I continue on my own. I did so without hesitation. As I went further ahead, the vegetation dwindled in number. Soon after, I found myself back at the entrance.

The tough lady was already there, alive and well. She explained that I'd gone through some kind of trial, one only select persons were allowed to complete. After that, she takes me to another nearby building. Upon taking one step inside, a plant emerges yet again from behind, blocking me from the woman, the exit, and even from any light. "You alone were chosen", grunted the woman. "This is something you have to do on your own."

Unnerved, I walk towards the darkened open space ahead. Just then, a deep voice boomed from above.

"You have come far in this trial.", said the enigma. "Now, final judgement is upon you. But beware" the voice bellowed fearsomely, "failure in this next test will result in your certain demise. Prepare yourself!"

I shook in place uncontrollably. Only, I realized it wasn't me, but the entire structure itself. The floor quickly gave way. Now, I found myself sliding backwards through the winding tunnels of a vast stonework aqueduct, the sky partially in view through narrow slits above. I started looking for a way out of this unintended ride, when I noticed a terrifying figure overhead: a massive dragon, bony spikes protruding from its olive-green scales.

"How long can you survive?!", taunted the creature, quite apparently the source of the aforementioned voice.

I forced myself to go faster, hoping that I could somehow outrun the beast. Indeed, I did soon lose sight of it. But then, I found myself face to face with its massive jaws, snapping in from one of several occasional large openings on the walls of the structure. Luckily, its wicked fangs missed me by a hair.

Reactively, I reached into my pockets, but could only find a handful of stones. Still, I 'figured' I had magical abilities. I enchanted the stones, then waited. Eventually, while passing some large gaps, I saw the creature trying to swoop in at me. So, I hurled a stone at it, if feebly (I was still getting dragged by currents, after all). Nonetheless, even a mere graze caused it great distress. Roaring in fury, the dragon responded by breathing a gout of flame, almost incinerating me, had not the tunnel closed again in the nick of time. When it next tried to attack, I conjured an earth elemental, created from the materials of the structure itself. This being obviously stood little chance, but it could at least occupy the menace long enough to give me some distance.

Later on, my ride was abruptly halted by my getting dropped into a huge cistern. I swam around momentarily, scouting for an exit, but could see none. This delay cost me my lead. The dragon soon hovered in from above. In such circumstances, I was all but helpless. Just as I thought my demise was imminent, I was suddenly flushed into the depths. When I came to, I found myself sliding down that aqueduct all over again. The trial wasn't over.

Much of that sequence repeats, until I eventually woke up.
