Cities in the Astral

12/08/13 I had a very long vivid pleasant semi-lucid (observing without controlling) dream about exploring Maui. I rode around on a massage table with wheels. I would kick off across the ground like a skate board and then steer the table by shifting my weight. I say semi-lucid because of things such as looking at the sea and thinking "this is much more colorful and fantastic then waking life," yet I never pulled full awareness in or tried to control anything. I just was having a very relaxing fun time. I did this for awhile and then found myself with out the table. I started walking and really was almost non-lucid at that point. I walked awhile and thought that this would get tiring (loosing a bit of understanding that it was a dream). I appeared in a room with other people and it turns out we have all been kidnapped. A Hawaiian guy tells us they will kill one of us and makes us hold these tubes of smoldering leaves. The first one to drop theirs dies, and you must hold them so the flames will burn up towards your hands. You must also breath onto the top opening of the tubes thus increasing the flames. Mine caught fire and I really had a feeling the situation was real. Then we were all in the room and a kid brings in food. One of the other captives raps a shoe lace around the kids throat and I start looking for something to place in the string to twist it tighter than can be done by hand. We will use the kid to force them to let us free. I find some dull knives and we test which is sharpest. I decide we will threaten to cut their child's throat and we all are to decide who is most likely to be able to cut the child if they need convincing. I say we should all at one time say a number between 1 and 3 to express how likely we are to be able to really hurt the kid. One person says 1, me and 3 others say 2; my wife says 3. I tell everyone I do not believe my wife is a good choice and offer to do it. I suggest slicing open a couple inches of the skin over the artery surgically so we can appear vicious with out endangering the kid. The dream ended at this point.
