Say if you have some awkward fetish like dream, would you still write it in your journal? Wouldn't you be worried about someone finding your journal and reading that explicit entry? So basically what do you do in this situation? |

I've worried about this more than I should probably admit, lol. Thankfully I have a really respectful family and so have never had any problems but I'm still a bit paranoid. I used to skip writing bits down or write really badly so it would be hard to read. Now I just journal as if no one will ever see though. Seriously, my DJ would be really boring for anyone else to read as I don't write like a piece of creative writing, just reports of what happened, so I don't think anyone who found it would get very far even if they thought it might be worth a look -- I mean, it's not like a juicy diary or a novel, just reports, as I said. That's the one thing I really don't get about this community actually, though I haven't posted about it, is all the shared journalling. I can't wrap my head around the idea of sharing that stuff because (if you're writing truthfully) it's either a) boring b) not relevant to strangers, or c)embarassing. |

I don't really have any "explicit" dreams, but if I did, I probably wouldn't record them. It's just one of many dreams I could record, so it's not like it's going to hurt my recall or anything. |

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

You can get creative with the wording so that when you read your journal years later you'll understand what it means, but anybody who doesn't need to know wont understand it. |

Hm, for me it is less of a worry that someone will read it, and more of a desire not to have dreams like that. I figure if writing down your dreams tells your subconscious they are important, and to remember them, then explicitly neglecting to write down those kind of dreams will do the opposite. This is why I usually don't write down these specific dreams. If I really like the rest of the dream, and just not a specific part like that, I will write it out or do as suggested above and write that part in a creative manner. |

Really, you guys don't have/don't want to have sexy dreams? I thought that was almost the "marketing" slogan for LDing -- flying, superpowers and whatever sex you want. Although yeah, the really awkward non-lucid ones like "had sex with mother's best friend" that you cringe at even remembering, I can see not wanting those! |

If it's too personal, I don't post it, but most of the time I do. I'm pretty open about my dreams in IRC. |

Great question - and one that comes up all the time in more general senses such as what to do about dream content that might offend a partner if they find your journal. Basically, you really need to be able to write things down or your data will be flawed. The best way may be the use of technology - using a computer, or perhaps even a smart phone that you can use passwords with to protect documents or even a voice recording file. |

Bacopa for improved recall
Yeah, I would opt for using a separate DJ for your "explicit" dreams and keeping it on your computer, passwords of course. Although, I've never been a big fan of telling my more "explicit" moments during any kind of dream with anyone ever, so I assume no one would be suspicious of my dream life. I think most people really don't care what you dream because they dream some crazy stuff too. |

“A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.” ~ Oscar Wilde
I literally just write them down. I mean, their freaking dreams man. |

I keep an offline journal, as well as the one I keep on DV. Anything that I don't think I'm willing to share with the world (as well as semi-coherent notes and whatnot), I just keep in the offline journal, instead of pasting it here. |

I never worry about it. Here is the big secret... Everyone is just as perverted as you are. They will never admit it, of course. |
|
Well if your really worried about it, just don't write the dream down. Like others have said you have use secret coding or something if you want, but it shouldn't harm your recall unless ALL of your dreams are explicit. |
|
Most dreams in my opinion, are neither meant for others to understand or critique or even be interested in. If you think it is important to record them, I don't know why (other than accepting that others say it is important to record them) you would even bother. |
|
Well, it is nice to read other people's dreams and learn that you're not a complete freak, that other people have dreams just as messed up as yours. It's also nice when a lot of people post similar dreasm, because then we can find commonalities and begin to understand the language of dreaming better. |

I have a paper DJ, a text-document DJ on my hard disk, and my DJ here on the Dream Views website. The paper one mainly contains shorthand notes to be expanded later, which occasionally includes weird or explicit stuff; I've never been particularly worried about anyone reading it. I consider the text-document one to be the authoritative, master version; it contains the fully-detailed, expanded versions of everything. I can write whatever I want to there, since no one else ever uses my computer. When I'm posting dream journal entries to DV, I just delete anything explicit or embarrassing when I'm on the Create DJ Entry page. |

Short-term lucid goals: [X] Move an object with my mind [ ] Create a portal and use it to get to a dream scene of my choice [ ] Meet one of my book characters
Long-term lucid goals: [ ] Visit the Dream World Academy [ ] Make a building appear at will [ ] Change my appearance to disguise myself as someone else [ ] Find the end of a rainbow
I tend to avoid writing about sexual encounters, incase my dad visits, or whatever, just incase. |

I don't have many explicit dreams. If I do, I write them down in a way, which is understandable only for me |
|
I just write em down, unless its something REALLY freaky. |

Some really weird things might be left out, but I usually write most things down. I've explained to my girlfriend loads of times that having sex with other people in dreams doesn't mean you want to cheat. Killing people in a dream doesn't mean you want to kill someone in real life. I just put a spoiler with 18+ on and type away. If I have a sex dream or something like it with someone in it that I know, and don't want people reading about, I just change the name or something like that. |

I just don't record those normally. But there is a girl that is normally inerested in reading my DJ. I write in school in the morning sometimes and if she sees me writing she will as if I have an new entries and I let her read them so I censor stuff for her benefit. |

I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.
