      Lucid Dream Length

      Hello,

I've had several ld's in the past few weeks. They've ranged, I think, from a few seconds to several minutes. But I was wondering whether anyone here has had ld's that have lasted longer, maybe a quarter of an hour, or something like that. I know it's diffucult to make an estimate of the exact lenght of the dream, but you must have an idea of how long it has been.
But anyone, that's the question, how long have people here had ld's.

Time dilation. I'm sure there's another thread with the same question, but the longest I've had have been around 20 minutes or so.

Well a lot of people claim to have lucid dreams for weeks or long periods of times like that. Some say they can make them last up to about two hours. But with talking to all the people and dream guides on here it's safe to say you can make them last up to about a few hours. It would also depend on your REM period as well. But hey! There's no reason why you can't experiment with making your lucid dreams last longer. Check out the dream stabilization and clarity tutorial. It has bunches of techniques on stabilizing dreams. The more stable a lucid dream is , the longer it will last.

      Hope this helps!

Longest lucid I've had was at least 20-30 mins (if not more). I think typically it's around 10-15 though for me.

In some of my lucid dreams I seem to accomplish a lot of things. It feels like a really long time. But I think if I actually timed the dream (in real time) it wouldn't actually be as long as it seems. I know this because of a lucid dream I was able to time between alarms on my clock.

I have had really long lucid dreams before. If I don't sleep for a few nights, I will get super long REM cycles. Maybe it really is a series of dreams close together. Either way, it feels like one long dream. I have definitely had lucid dreams that lasted an hour or two of real time. Maybe more.

As people have said, dreams can seem to last a lot longer than they really do. You can also remain lucid through the sleep stages between REM cycles.

It's really hard to differentiate the time of lucid dreams, like Robot Butler said, with the REM stages, i will wake up right before and after one, and the dream will seem super long, even though i was only asleep for 20 minutes or so....it's pretty hard to pin a time to dream length

My longest LD's have been about an hour, and its seems that there is a relationship between length and intensity. The last long LD I had was about a couple of months back. It seemed to last ages, but was so intense, that I got the chance to have a go at everything, flying, time travelling and one of my favourites, looking in a mirror and changing my appearance and clothes etc.

Thats interesting, because I remember being really tired that night for the same reason.

Managed a 2hours one not long ago, of course I checked the time before and after, it was pretty awesome a fight.

As for time dilation, you have to make your mind, either believe it is some magic thingy or altering your own perception of time, I go for the second and can do it to some extent.

The only way I've been able to accurate time lucids was when I could check the time, WILD really fast, wake up, check the time again. Doing that, I think my best clocked around 45-60 minutes. My lucids average more like 15-20 minutes, but since they're mostly DILDs, I have to estimate more.

My shortest LD was about two minutes, with my longest being around... Ten?

But then again, as long as a lucid isn't just a few moments long, I believe in quality over quantity. If I got to choose between an amazingly vivid LD for three minutes, or a difficult-to-control LD that was an hour long, I'd go with the former.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      Hi there my friend,
If I'm not wrong, The maximum length of a Lucid Dream is 1 hour. But if it does surpass 1 hour, it have something to do with a person's perception of time. My LD experience usually lasts for a couple of minutes with 20 minutes as the maximum. Hope this helps

My longest was around 10 minutes or so, and I've gone through times where my lucids lasted only seconds which is not fun at all. It depends on how calm you remain, how early on you become lucid in the dream, and how experienced you are at maintaining awareness/control and stability of the dream. I can't wait until the day I have one longer than 20 minutes, hopefully its not far off.

My longest LD was around 20 minutes if I don't count the time taken to reach it (I usually do some variation of a WILD that is more "Mild" lol and I feel my soul get out and fly around (OBE I guess? but I don't have control)) if I take in the time to reach it my most longest one is 45 minutes (Atleast the feel of the time.)

Thoo I'm sure I could be lucid longer if I wasn't scared to death by crazy psychopatic Dream character's that chase me and want to hurt me and such.

I've had a couple at 45-60 mins but I've had quite a few 30 min LDs, I know the time exactly because I used to set an hourly beep on my phone and hear it in my dream, reality check, then become lucid.
When I woke up I'd check the time and know how long past the hour it was.
I don't do that anymore though because quite a few times I'd become lucid naturally, it would be really stable then I'd hear the beep and think oh man my alarm, and loose it.

If you only have the skills to do so you can experience anything you can imagine as real.

Oh and I forgot to mention, realtime doesn't matter for dreaming, I even had normal dreams long like a day, I woke up feeling bored and such, lol.

And the lucids I had that were 45 mins or so (With reaching them) Only took 5 mins realtime(I seem to awaken fast when I have them, but then again I do get scared XDD)

I had this dream as a child in which I had the impression that I had known this one girl for years and played with her very often. I know it's a dream because I remember waking up and feeling sad because she abruptly moved out at the end of the dream, but the memory gives me the impression of it being an entire lost chapter of my life.

Awww....that sounds so sad....maybe when you get lucid you could try to find her again and find out what it was? I'm sure it has some special meaning =c *Offers a hug*
