This has happened to me several times before. I'll get so motivated to LD, and then after awhile I'll just kind of not care about it anymore. |

This is my first post in many, many months. It seems that my allegiance to this forum, or even to the subject of lucid dreaming has waned. I need to get back into this. I need a mentor, or an alarm, or to start back my DJ, or just think about Ld's more! My question to you guys is: |
Lucid Dream Goals: [X]Fly []Have a pokemon battle []summon an undead []look at a mirror, and have my image do something i am not doing.
"I think we dream so we don't have to be apart so long. If we're in each others dreams, we can be together all the time." -Hobbes

Thanks, I'll try talking to my brother, who is a newbie at Lucid Dreaming like me. Thanks for the advice. I just needed something to motivate me. I keep forgetting to go on this forum. I'll write notes next to my bedside that tell me to go on here. |

I, too, have returned to these forums after a bit of time off. I honestly truly want to continue to talk about and try to have my first LD. Motivation is hard to gain when LD'ing is not achieved and things don't seem to be going as well as others in the department of dreaming. To motivate myself, I am trying to visit these forums everyday and post as well as reading Dream Journals which is seeming to inspire me again. I am new to LD'ing yet, but am trying to learn as much as I can. |

Friends are people you care about, no matter what.
Goals: Have a shared dream[ ], Meet Saria[?], Zelda[?], and Malon[ ] from Legend of Zelda, visit Hyrule[ ], find my Dream guide[ ], visit the Star Wars galaxy[ ], do a ToTM or ToTY[ ], befriend a dragon [ ], find/create my dream world[ ], forge/find a unique sword[ ], visit Gensokyo[ ]
I get motivation from remembering my old LDs, from anime, from reading others DJs, from thinking of how boring my non-lucids are. |
I have a theory about this. |
My motivation? Motivation itself is often a metaphor, being that is, a member of a class, but which class? which definition is one striving for? I started off in life just curious about lucid dreaming--my main goal was "One wife, one home, one family." Some might think that rather simple minded for someone who is suppose to have a very high IQ, yet from every angle I examined the desire, I could not fault it. Yet here I am at 60, a single parent of a 9 year old jedi knight with practically no hope of being of interest to a young lady. I had visions of a quest with someone to seek the light with. |

Reading through old dreams I've had always motivates me. It brings back memories of how awesome dreaming can be. |
motivation is that it would cheer me up enough so I don't get super fucking depressed. I get sad a lot. |
I, too, suffer from very bad depression. Hang in there kid, better things are on the way. But first you gotta think positive. Positive energy creates positive energy. |
I joined 3 years ago and I was gung-ho about lucid dreaming. I had a lot of success in getting LDs for about 4 months, but my level of control was so poor/ short that it just became frustrating. I had quantity, but not quality. |
watch movies about lucid dreams and dreams. it always gets me pumped |

I have actually been thinking of giving up on my DJ. I have 10 or so in a Word doc coz I needed them off my phone, and have another 20ish in my phone as drafts. It's just a hassle to me to actually write them down. I've been thinking of only writting down long, interesting dreams (And not bother with the short dreams), and LD's. I don't go back and read them for dream signs, so it's not like I'd be loosing anything by not doing it. I've only re-read for my own amusement |

just to know that i will be able to do everything i want one day (night) is my motivation! |
I'm not sure how new you are to this, but give it a few months and you'll prob think it's a hassle as well, lol |

This is definitely true. I tried LDing for one week, got a LD but life got busy so I had to forget about it. Got back into it and got a couple of LDs. Everytime I get close to having one, I would have dreams about dreams which signalled how close I was. I would then start to pick up my RCs, etc..... and end up with an LD. Suffice to say I haven't done anything impressive and they weren't as vivid as I would have liked, but, I found that after I got an LD, I would have a hard time continuing my RCs the next day, kinda like I accomplished a goal but wasn't too impressed with the results. I think if everyone had a proper LD with good awareness, decent control and good length, then we would have a hard time NOT wanting to have more, but, with lack luster LDs, you feel like you are putting in all that work for somewhat disappointing results |
