Q: How to remind yourself of your tasks when becoming lucid?

I'll keep it short. I consider myself pretty experienced lucid dreamer and I have frequent lucid dreams. Still, every time I become lucid I tend to do something completely different than what I planned to do. Any tips and tricks / ideas of how to remind my self of my tasks?

This was a huge problem for me too. I noticed it was caused only lack of determination. Its same in real life if you had to clean but you favorite show was coming on tv would you first clean or watch to show and clean afterwards. For me it was like this: I became lucid and my intention was to fly to space but then i thought i first want to explore a little then i saw so many intresting things that i didnt care about going to space. When i woke up i was dissapointed since i again for 10th time spend lucid dream just exploring. I wasted so many lucid dream just because i was too lazy to put any more effort for making myself more determent for next lucid dream.

      Hello,

If you are having difficulty remembering tasks that you want to do when lucid, then I would probably say that you are not fully lucid
During a full lucid experience, you can think as clearly, and remember as clearly as when you are awake. The best way to gain complete lucidity is by grounding yourself. Once lucidity has been attained, integrate each of your senses to make yourself more in tune with the dream scape. Listen to each sound, touch different surfaces, smell the different smells, focus on objects at different distances. By doing this, you will really activate your dream body. You can also try cues such as "Increase lucidity". Say them aloud and they will work much like auto-suggestion. These are some of the best techniques that I have used over my years of lucid dreaming and I find that they never fail me!

      I hope this helps.

Two steps to always remember your goals (I struggled with this, but I am getting better).

      1) Your main goal when you get lucid is to slow down. Always.

      2) You should only have one goal that you can pull up at any time throughout the day. If you cannot remember it in a hectic moment of the day, you won't remember it in a dream. Always be thinking "If I got lucid here. I would slow down, summon Fryingman and kick his butt in a lightsaber duel."

What helps me, is to repeat a simple mantra with the task pre bed or during wbtb/when falling asleep.

As an alternative to what the others have said, you could use dream incubation to implement your tasks into the dream itself. I use dream incubation all the time because I am terrible at remembering my goals in dreams myself. It's much better for me when the dream places me in a scenario where I would naturally complete the task. For example, if my goal was to swim in the ocean, I could simply incubate the ocean. I would then see the ocean in my dream and that would either remind me of my task or just incite me to go swim in it.

If you're interested in dream incubation, you can read about it here: http://www.dreamviews.com/general-dr...-tutorial.html

Thank you all so much! I'll try all of these techniques and choose the alternatives that help the most.

You wish. VZZZ VZZ VZZZ! Take that!

Slowing down is awesome and I am still far from getting that down. I in fact used to do it better when I had a "I just got lucid" ritual I would practice in waking. So that's my recommendation practice when waking a just-got-lucid ritual: slow down, look around & engage, and ask yourself "goals?".
