I hadn't had a pokemon-related dream in months.
This dream began in the rectangular athletic centre of my school. The flooring was polished oak, strewn with the types of colored lines you see in any gym. The room was massive; you could easily hold two different games in there at one time. There were two changerooms with pale turquoise doors, the push-in-to-open style, located in the centre of the gym's east wall.
I was in a pokemon battle from the beginning. I was on one side of the athletic centre, while my opponent was on the other. In the center of the area was a large black circle with a line drawn through it, dividing the place in half. I recall grasping an imaginary pokeball and chucking it into the air, still with nothing really there, but I wasn't lucid. Then, an Arcanine appeared with a quick flash of white light. It was a bit larger than it normally should have been, standing at around five feet, as tall as I was.
My opponent (whom I can't remember much about) sent out a Chikorita. Okay, maybe that wasn't such a good idea on their behalf. I shouted to the Arcanine to use fire spin and it ran at the Chikorita, walking around it in a circle while blowing out a line of fire. It looked as if it were tracing a circle along the ground. That wasn't a fire spin, it was a fire trace or something. But who am I kidding? Anything can happen in a dream. The Chikorita, even though the fire never actually touched it, falls over and "faints".
The next moment, the Chikorita was gone with no discernible transition, and so was my opponent.
Then, there was an explosion above me, and a massive hole was blasted into the roof of the athletic centre. You could see the layers of construction in the roof that the blast caused, but no debris were falling from the area of impact. A Lugia swooped down, roaring like a dragon or other creature, and landed on the floor. It was small, around my height again, although it should have been at least twice that size. I ran like crazy, bolting for the second changeroom, and got inside, slamming the door shut, which was pretty heavy. A few unrecognizable people were sitting on the floor inside the changeroom, talking and panicking and wondering what to do. I suppose we didn't get Lugia attacks that often.
I decided to try and fight it, using my own pokemon. Through sheer coincidence, I sent out another imaginary pokeball inside the changeroom, quieter than last time, and a Ho-Oh appeared! These two pokemon were practically partners in the pokemon video games, but in the dream I didn't know this. The Ho-Oh was the same size as the Lugia, and squawked a few times before settling down. It folded up its wings and tucked its legs underneath itself. "Come on," I told it, "let's go".
The next thing I know, I was getting up onto the bird pokemon and zooming out of the changeroom, the turquoise door now gone. The Lugia was flying slowly around the athletic centre, which looked even more massive than before. It spotted us and charged straight towards us. I commanded my pokemon to use fire blast, and it produced the move that looked very similar to the actual thing. Instead of consuming the Lugia, however, it kind of stopped as soon as it touched it, and stayed there for a few seconds while the pokemon flew around, unaffected. I then told the Ho-Oh to use fire spin, and it had the same affect as it did with the Arcanine. However, the Lugia flew away with brand new burn patches on its feathers.
