It's hard to say...does talking to it through DCs count? Because I've had some times where I felt that I was talking to it directly through a DC in the past.
Yeah, I've generally done it through dream characters. Sometimes I'll just amble up to any random one and start explaining to them their role as a 'face/voice' for my subconscious, other times a particular dream denizen will stand out to me, etc.
