    1. Dream Challenge Day 10

by , 10-29-2010 at 07:51 AM (Mindscape of Xaqaria)
Half way through my first 20 day cycle and I'm not doing so well. Didn't remember any dreams this morning, although I felt like they were all lurking just out of reach. I did remember that my friend Aaron was in a dream at some point. +1

    2. Dream Challenge Day 6

I'm going to cheat a little bit on my rules, I haven't posted in two days but I haven't had regular internet access and didn't remember any dreams anyway so we'll just pretend those two days didn't happen.

This morning I remembered a dream. All I can remember is being in an apartment that I was renting month to month. I was about to leave for a few days and it was the end of the month so I asked my friend Aaron who was suddenly there what his plans were and whether or not I should renew the lease for another month before I left. I looked out the window and the whole apartment was rotating; it was on the top floor of some rotating building, like a giant industrial centrifuge. We talked about how it was just like a ride we used to go on "at the great escape" except the memory was just in the dream, not real. I know there was a lot more to the dream but I can't remember any more. +1

CAUTION: Contains spoilers from the 1996 film Primal Fear.

I was walking towards the changeroom of my school's gymnasium. Everything looked fairly normal so far; I walked through the door to the changeroom and there was a 2-meter long hallway, which opened up into a square locker room with wooden benches on the walls. There were large borderless mirrors on the walls, above the benches, which wouldn't have been there in real life. Although I remember looking straight into them, I cannot remember seeing my reflection. Nevertheless, this caused me to become lucid; I then looked around for a few moments and observed the dream. It took a little while for me to remember my dream goals, but I remembered that one of them was to summon and talk to Roy Stampler, the sociopathic defendant from the film Primal Fear. I turn around and exit the changeroom, emerging into the gymnasium and then hanging a left, leaving that room as well. I am now in the hallway of my school, on the second floor. I go to the left again and then straighten out, heading down the hallway.

Although the atmosphere of the changeroom and gymnasium was lighter, the atmosphere in the hallway was slightly dark, as if the school was about to close down for the day. But although the school was still 'open', at first glance there was no one there; this made the situation even more bizarre, but as I looked closer there were a few people walking along the floor below me. I looked over the balcony and wondered how I could summon Roy.

I decided to try a somewhat new technique; instead of calling out for him or going through another door, I expected him to be behind me, lessening the time spent looking around for him. It worked. Soon I could feel someone tapping me on my shoulder, and I turned around, fully believing he would be behind me. The summoning was successful; I looked at him and he was all there, looking almost exactly like he should have. "There you are, Aaron. I've been looking all over for you." He shrugged and replied, "it's Roy, stop with the Aaron thing already."

"Okay" I told him, throwing my hands up. "Let's get out of here so we don't attract any attention."

After all, in this situation I was imagining that he was released from the mental institution early and that we were supposed to meet to speak together. Who knows why, and who knows why I decided to stay at the school to talk to him. At this point, I still didn't know what I was going to ask him, but I forgot about it for now and we walked until we got to a classroom. The classroom had a blue and green berber carpet, which felt softer than normal underneath my feet. I didn't look down to see whether I was wearing shoes or not, though. The desks were arranged as if an exam had just taken place; they were spaced evenly apart in rows facing the door we came in from. There must have been around thirty desks in the room, but some of them were missing chairs. The room had white walls but they were covered with white bulletin boards, which in turn were plastered with neat geography maps and a large calendar made from rainbow-colored paper. The wall that the desks were facing had a large smartboard on it, complete with markers and a digital eraser.

We sat down in two desks near the only window, around six feet by six feet in area. This window was on the opposite side of the room as the smartboard. "So how did you manage to get out so early?" I asked him, and he replied, "it's all a matter of keeping the treatment visible." Whatever that meant.

I'll be revisiting this dream goal in the future, as I'm not satisfied with the results.
