    1. Reference Letter from Red Lobster

by , 02-05-2012 at 01:06 AM (Second Reality Experiences)
Red Lobster seems to be on my subconscious a lot lately... Probably because I used them as a reference for one of the restaurants I applied to...and when that restaurant called them, they were told it had been too long since I had worked there for them to give a reference for me (only 2 years). So I didn't get that job - and I guess my subconscious mind just hasn't gotten over that. But this dream ended up being an exact play by play of me confronting my general manager LeeAnn about this happening.

I walk up to the front doors of the Red Lobster I used to work at. I look at the sign at the right of the door that displays the name of the general manager who works there. LeeAnn's name is still there - good. I go inside and look to see if I can find her. The layout is definitely different than what I was used to when I worked. I spot LeeAnn in the doorway to the kitchen. She has an apprehensive anxious look about her, which tells me she probably knows why I am here. But unlike on the phone, she can't exactly ignore my presence. She sits down with me at one of the empty tables.

"How are you?" I ask her.

"I'm good. Look. I have to cut down right to the chase. I can't give you a reference from me. It's been too long since you've been here."

"It's only been two years though," I say, "I wanted to transfer to a Red Lobster where I live now, and I couldn't find any that were accepting transfers. So I applied to Best Buy and was hired there. I've been with them for two years, but I've always wanted to go back to serving. Now that I had that opportunity, I couldn't get hired because you guys refused to give me a reference!"

"Yeah, the other managers told me they get a lot of reference calls about you though."

"Why does that matter? To be honest, I know I was a great employee. I gave you 2 MONTHS notice when I left. I never made any trouble for you and always did a good job."

"Well, why get back into serving again?" she asks.

"Because it's the best pay for the time spent working that I can get right now. Not only that - you get to interact with many different people and it's never boring. It's fun, and not monotonous whatsoever."

She laughs, "You are so passionate about it we should get married!"

We get up and walk together, down a corridor and into a seperate room. There is a queen bed in the middle and I can see my friend Brittany laying down in it. She makes a joking comment about how me and LeeAnn better not be having sex. LeeAnn gets out a piece of paper and asks what I want her to write for a reference letter. She ends up writing down a list of good qualities I have. I don't remember what exactly they were. I just remember that I wasn't too impressed - but it would do.

Brittany speaks up to her, "Don't forget to sign it for him!"

She quickly signs it and then hands me the slip of paper. I feel accomplished right before I wake up.

    2. Hired Back at Red Lobster/ Miniature Horses in the Countryside

I have a sit down with my old general manager of Red Lobster to try to get back working there again. She hires me. When I show up to work for my first day I ask one of the servers if the menu is still the same from when I worked there. They tell me it pretty much is and hand me a menu. I look it over and find that not much has changed at all. I go through the selection of sides in my head. Baked Potato, Mashed Potato, French Fries, Broccoli, or Rice...still got it! I look at what starting section they put me in, and it's a really shitty one... not near the windows at all - where most of the customers like to be to see the water. That's expected though, they needed to start me out easy. I also notice next to my name on the seating chart the written words "Only 1%". I assumed that that meant I only get 1% of my pay or tips which is extremely disappointing but I am sure it was only for that day because of starting. Suddenly I have to use the restroom so I enter the bathroom. The stalls had no walls and after I was done I was thinking about what an invasion of privacy that was.
I look down at my hand and realize I have a dark grey smudge on it. I go up to the bathroom sink and see that the dark smudging is also all over my face. I try to wash it off but somehow it gets all over my clothes. Shit! I pump some soap hoping that it might help me get rid of it all faster. My clothes get all wet, but after a few minutes of washing, I end up looking somewhat okay. I walk outside and the speak with the hostess - a thin girl with blonde, chin length hair.

"Hey Nick, I sat you but no one knew where you were and we couldn't find you. So I had to move them to someone else's section. Also, some of the servers say you need to give them some tables anyway so they can make money."

I look at her. "I don't care what the other servers say, sit me anyway. And let me know when you do. I'm not going anywhere."

I walk around and notice there are some stairs that are leading to a basement with dancing music blasting inside. Since when did Red Lobster get a night-club? I walk down there and bump into my old roommate Amaliah on the way.

"Hey! I didn't know you were here."

"Oh I come here all the time! I love this place! Let's go in!"

I follow her inside but it's very dark and hard to see. An Asian guy walks up to me that I recognize as one of my coworkers.

      "Follow me Nick." he said.

He leads me to another room of the nightclub and then the dream fades. The moment everything turns black I realize I am dreaming

I start spinning and fighting to save the dream now that I was lucid. I keep thinking that I want the dream scene to change into something beautiful. When the dream finally does re-appear I am in a hilly countryside next to a flowing creek. There are miniature horses grazing among yellow flowers. They are about the size of toy dogs. Very cute. I stabilize the dream a bit and admire the clarity. Everything looks and feels so real. Even the water from the creek which I put my legs in feels nice. I see a few baby ducks waddling through the grass. It's very relaxing. I try to pet some of the little horses but they are skittish and run away from me. A few of them jump into the creek and swim to the other side. Then everything disappears and I am back awake in my bed :/
