    1. Imposing Possible Appraisers

      by , 09-06-2015 at 07:44 PM
Morning of September 6, 2015. Sunday.

This is mostly an ordinary dream of a typical passive perspective. At one point, I become aware that three younger men, all around thirty perhaps, are sitting in our living room. I am not sure of what circumstances or implied back story brought this about though I do not seem annoyed as I often am in such dreams. Our house seems different, with more open space in the rooms and larger overall as well.

I do not seem to know who the males are. I first consider that they are new tenants for a nearby house. I make an absentminded comment about some people not living in any place for more than a few months. I also make a sarcastic comment about the conditions of the houses in the region. They do not seem amused and I start to think that they may be some sort of real estate appraisers. They make unrealistic comments about how nice the houses are but I do not respond.

Soon, I notice that when I look out the window, there is only a field of tall dry grass across the street from our house. I get the impression that there are not many other houses or buildings around after all, and that what I thought of as a street is actually a (fictional) back road in a somewhat isolated area. This seeing of the high golden grass through the window (instead of a large parking lot as in reality - though it was actually a large field before this) and realizing there are not many neighbors makes me feel good and makes me consider that my “complaints” were unwarranted. My flawed thinking does not trigger lucidity in any way. The men continue to talk about the nature of the houses and their value though I also get the impression that some maintenance or repair work may be done soon (not necessarily on our own house).

At one point, I look out the kitchen window and notice the neighbor’s dog running around and barking in our backyard. I mention this to my wife but I do not go out. The dog, however, is a small beagle, and I become mildly amused rather than angry at the neighbor, at its random wandering about. I go back into the living room.

After the men talk a bit more, they leave through the kitchen area, it seems, though I suddenly get suspicious and go into the kitchen myself. However, I do not see anyone but my wife Zsuzsanna and our youngest daughter. Zsuzsanna talks about getting some extra things in some sort of subscription to a craft series. (I am not sure if she just bought it at the newsagency - what they call magazine vendors here - or got it in the mail.)

My wife goes into the living room to sit on the couch and I notice the transparent rectangular plastic box she has is filled with numerous random items. At least a few of the items are old ruined CDs that are meant to be used in a craft project. There is also a general appearance of similar items; for example, a small plastic lid of some sort that is of a lesser diameter than a CD though with a large circular hole in the center as well as a couple embroidery hoops and a couple round beverage coasters. Several of the items look as if they may be pieces of old toys meant to be used in a new craft project. My wife seems happy about the special cheaper price for the first part of the subscription series. I am not sure if a particular subscription project utilizes the random items, or if they are meant to be used for the individual ideas of the subscribers.

    2. Crafts, cat paws & pewdiepie

      - I was in a classroom with a small class, and a bearded guy in his 20s had come in with a small shelf on wheels to try to sell us craft supplies. It was very quiet and awkward in the class, because there was only one girl interested in any of it, plus a couple other people attempting to look politely interested in a couple bags of beads, and no one was speaking. I suddenly realized he was selling a lot of bright plastic beads and cute charms, so I got up to go take a look. The first thing I picked up from a tray of charms was a little Pinkie Pie figure, maybe an inch tall. I showed it to someone else there who I thought would like it. The next one, though, was some sort of weird bootleg figure mashup of Pinkie Pie and Rarity, which I found funny and also showed to the person. Meanwhile, the interested girl had found a big box of varied supplies that came in a nice case with a handle. It looked like one of those kids' bracelet making kits you can buy at Walmart. It was just called "Crafts" and cost $66. She decided she was going to buy it, and the seller announced to all of us that "she's buying Crafts!" There was another awkward silence, and I found myself slightly jealous of all the supplies she was getting, but realized I wouldn't pay that much for it anyway.

      - I was playing around with cat paws, like these:
except the one on my left hand was white and the one on my right hand was black. I was talking to someone else about it afterwards, possibly N, saying I had no idea where the white one had come from. I don't have black ones either, though. (I was contemplating some pink ones on ebay last night...)

      - I saw my friend A for the first time in quite a while, except..he had become Pewdiepie. From youtube. At least, he looked just like him and spoke in a similar way, but didn't have an accent. We were talking about games, and he said almost all he ever plays anymore is StepMania. I said, "me too! well, that and MK7.." and he asked if I wanted to play both with him sometime. I said I would. I was noticing very slowly that he was different, and eventually said so. He laughed and made some kind of joke about it. (I watched a few of his videos right before I went to bed last night.)
    3. Craft store

I was in this really cool craft store with my cousins. It looked like a Micheal's and was all white inside. Most of the shelves were empty, but it was so huge that there was still a lot of cool stuff. I really wanted to shop, but my aunt made me carry their pet pig around the whole time (no they don't have one irl lol). It was black and probably 2 feet long, quite fat and really heavy. I was having a hard time picking it up, and my aunt was showing me how to hold it. I ended up carrying it like a cat, and then it was happy and started purring.

I was finally able to put it down when they were done, and started looking at things. Some of the lights started shutting off, I looked outside and it was dark. Everyone was looking at me, and I finally asked, "..is the store closed?" I was informed that yes, it was closing, and the owners were waiting for us to leave. I was kind of mad because I hadn't been able to shop, so I said I'd just go really quickly.

I found these bags of 700 mixed matte pony beads in red, yellow, green and blue for really cheap, so I grabbed one. Next to them there was a bucket of animal shape beads in different colours, another bucket of these bright and glittery plastic rings, and a few other buckets like that as well. You could fill a bag with that stuff and pay by weight, like at a candy store. I decided I'd go back a bit later and get some.

I kept going and found these giant plastic moustache shapes hanging up, they were probably 1.5 feet long and came in a bunch of colours. I remember seeing brown, neon orange, and glittery green. I was half considering putting one on a necklace, but whoever was there with me saw me looking at them and smiling and was like "no, those are not cool lol". I decided to move on.

Next I came across a rack that had hanging furry tails that were labelled "Unicorn Tails". They were probably about a meter long, had a clip at the top, were white until the last couple inches, then had rainbow stripes at the end. I grabbed one and clipped it to the back of my pants to see what it was like, then turned around to look at it. Turns out when you clipped it on, it curved back upwards about halfway. The end of the tail was at around the level of where it as clipped on, and there was a white plastic unicorn head on it. It looked really weird, but me and whoever I was with thought it was cool and started laughing.

    4. Critters, Casinos, and Crafts

      1. Something about taking along an old copy of Return of the King to read on the steps of some building while I'm bored. I don't actually open the book, however, and just wander around reciting the "Arise, riders of Theoden..." speech.

      2. Something about petting a raven while it nuzzles me with its beak. (A better bird-encounter than some other dreams I've had - most of them end up nipping or clawing me.)

      3. I go to a weird casino with some guys my age. The first game past the entrance involves peeing in a container, and if you can fill it up to a certain line, you have the option of paying for a diamond necklace. Otherwise, you can just dig through a big drawer of prizes - mostly coins, bead strings, feather fans, and pocket watches. Then there are all sorts of prize-grabber games for winning stuffed animals (odd ones at that - tribbles, insects, bats...) and various games that call for special tokens. I'm getting ready to cash out, but what I thought was a $20 bill was actually $20 in foreign currency, and I couldn't figure out the exchange rate.

      4. Something about misplacing my Ghost in the Shell messenger-bag.

      5. Something about puppies in an enclosure that resembles one of those restaurant play-spaces with tunnels and stuff. I also play with a large silvery-colored hamster that lives in a wire birdcage shaped like a house.

      6. Something about trying to weave a basket out of pink fleece and sewing pins.
