It may have been something I said. It is probably the easiest way to get DEILDs and really that is the easiest method as far as I am concerned. I just did this two nights in a row and had about 2-3 brief lucids each morning. Luckily my wife goes to work before me, and I spend a lot of time in a hotel. Just use a snooze alarm. I use an I-phone and set it for as far after bedtime as I can and still have 2 hours to DEILD. If I can get away with 9 hours sleep, I set the first alarm for 7 hours after bedtime. I like to use 30 minute intervals if I am in high lucidity phase. That is because I get lucid often enough this way, that a shorter snooze would interrupt some epic LDs. If I am in a dry spell I will set it for 15 minutes. That way I can try DEILD 7 times, and usually catch some lucidity somewhere in there. |
I tried this last night, staring 3 hours after I fell asleep and had 3 alarms about 30-45 minutes apart. My recall was increased and I think it is great for helping generate activity in the frontal lobe (logical area) of the brain which greatly helps with lucidity. |
I've tried this some time ago, and unfortunatelly it doesn't work for me... If the amount of sleep before the alarm is enough for me, I just can't fall asleep again, and if it's not enough, I turn off the alarm and immediatelly fall asleep. Any ideas how could I improve this method? |

I know what you mean, you need to experiment with your timings and find a time that's right in the middle such that you're not too tired or too awake. I suggest using an alarm app on your smartphone (for android users I suggest either Alarm Clock Xtreme or Alarm Clock Plus) |
This wbtb alarm technique is the method I use to attempt to induce lucid dreams each and every night. Similar to what sivason explained I use an alarm that goes off (on my smartphone using Alarm Clock Xtreme for android users) every 30min after about 3 hours of sleep until I wake up for the day. When the alarm goes off I hit the snooze button and then attempt to WILD and if that doesn't work I can still become lucid through DILDs caused by the failed WILD attempt. |
Alarm clock extreme works very well. Would highly recommend. I set it around 4 hours after I go to sleep. Have around 5 alarms that will go off increasingly louder for 5 seconds. Then it cuts off. Usually 30 minutes inbetween each alarm. Amazing lucidity. Seriously some of the best lucid dreams I've ever had. |

Peter piper picked your pecker.... wait that's not right.
Wow we use the same method almost to the dot (Alarm Clock Xtreme, alarms 3-4 hours after going to sleep, 30min between alarms |
I'm not really a light sleeper, but my phone gets really loud. So the first couple seconds it goes off I don't hear it, but by the end it's almost too loud. I train myself to not move to the sound of it when it wakes me up. Then I just sit there and fall into a dream. So fun to do. |

May I ask what type of phone do you have? I have a Galaxy S2 SGH-T989 and while the alarm does get loud, it's just not loud enough to wake me up reliably if I set it to auto snooze itself which is why I have to manually snooze because at times I'll just sleep through the alarm for a few minutes. I plan on buying an external speaker to connect the phone to at night so that the alarm will be louder as it will be coming from two sources, hopefully that will solve the problem. |
I've never lucid yet. But i'm practicing dream recall and jounalling. You said 30 minutes in between.. My question is how do you even go back to bed in 30 minutes and i'm guessing that means your sleep periods are small. |
My I-phone has a shake to snooze setting. I just have to pick it up and move it a bit to shut it off. It forces me to wake up a little, but not too much. |
I am also a fan of this method and have posted many times about this. It works very well, specially with long sleep because the chance of the alarm going off when we are dreaming is higher, as you all know. It is not very effective if i sleep less than 9 hours. In my last dj entry, i had an interesting deild marathon. |

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way
Hello, i am beginner i read this post and found it very atractive and something that might help me achieve more lucid dreams and i want to try it. But there is something that bothers me. I read that DEILD is from same family as the WILD which sometimes or most of the times starts with FA. Since this is a DEILD method and requers to be still and not open your eyes when you wake up, how do you check if you are in a FA? What reality check can be used for this so it will not ruin DEILD attempts? I trained myself to do nose plug RC every time i wake up or feel myself in bed after going to sleep, which thankfully to this i was able to catch FA overtime. But since i have to move my hand plug my nose and put my focus and awareness on my breathing it bothers me that this might be a problem or ruin the conditions required for this DEILD method and reduce my chances to have one. |
This method is a little different. I have to move one arm to shake my phone. If the scene changes from your bed then you are safe to RC however you want. If you think you maybe be dreaming of being in bed try looking around without moving. Only in a dream can you examine your room without opening your eyes or moving your head. |

I do this without alarms. It was a youtube video I watched. The problem with an alarm that isn't natural can wake you up in a lucid dream. |
I get woken from many LDs by the next alarm, but that is ok with me. I figure if the method helped me get lucid, it is not so bad that it also interrupted one. |
Yes Sivason, we just have to be grateful ! But even so, if we are still sleepy, it´s possible to DEILD again. |

I used to do that about 10 years ago. I would set the alarm to first go off after 5 hours of sleep, because I figured that after that my body would be done repairing itself mostly. Then I'd set it to go off every hour until I get up. Was very useful back then because I couldn't get very long LDs. But now the alarm can disturb me while I'm LDing so I don't do it anymore. |

I tried this method 2 times, i know this might not be enough for me to expect results but i noticed when i did this i was not able to remember single dream or fragment of what i was dreaming those nights. This is strange because i usually remember 2-5 dreams a night. |

I got me 3 and 5 seconds too, but the issues is that i don't hear those alarms every time they ring except i max volume them and that cause me issues because too high volume kinda wakes me too much. I got this one 7 seconds medium volume which i found it quite confortable and they all stop after their time with autosnooze. |

What kind of alarm app are you guys using? Specially iPhone users. I really want an auto-snooze alarm app, where I don't need too touch the device to turn it off. Do any of you know such an iPhone app? |

I've watched a video on a technique where it said in theory when you repeat something like this is gave you more of a chance to reach it (lucidity). In this video it was a WILD, it stated that there were impulses that your mind sent to your body to check if you're awake (Clearing throat, turning over, moving body etc.) and if you reached a certain limit and then gave in to the impulse, the next time you attempted it (literally straight after) your body would steepen the climb to falling sleep (you'd reach it quicker). After a certain amount of tries you were 'sling-shotted' into lucidity much quicker than normal (In the WILD example). So perhaps the same principles apply here. |
