The Dark Tower: Slaves in Skyrim

      Regular Dream - Video Game / Semi-lucid - Lucid Dream - Notes

I am at a school. I am looking for my class. It seems I have forgotten where it is. I have some idea, but not an exact one. I need to look at my schedule, but I don't have that with me, either. The office should be able to give that to me, but I know I will be late. I head for the office. Even if I miss class today I will need it later. When I am on my way to the office I see an area that looks familiar. A circular building with rooms around it. Maybe I remember now... I count doors until I find the one closest to the main building. I peek in the window and see it is my class. With a sigh of relief I go inside. It doesn't look like the teacher is in yet. I sit at my computer and load up the project I'm working on. This is a programming course and my project is game related. I ask my neighbor where the teacher is. He looks at me like I'm an idiot and says this is a free study period, we just work on our projects. I feel a bit dumb. I drag a couple things around and edit a line of code then I compile. It looks good, I need a test. I put on a virtual reality headset to test my progress.

I am now in Skyrim VR. I look around, surprised to see this instead of my project. I am in the New Gnisis Cornerclub in the Gray Quarter of Windhelm. I do a double-take as I see the man beside me is Roland Deschain from the Dark Tower books. There are people sitting around eating and drinking and chatting. Roland does a double-take, he seems as surprised to be here as I am. The bartender, Ambarys, tells us that our kind aren’t welcome here. The room goes quiet as everyone turns to see what is going on. I see everyone in the room is a dark elf. I tell Roland we have to find our way back to the beach anyhow, I am thinking to get Roland back to the right place at least. He says to wait, he hears something. He walks to the far wall, which seems to alarm Ambarys. Roland says someone behind that wall needs help. Ambarys says that’s absurd, there’s nothing beyond that wall.I use Aura Whisper to see if there is anyone back there. Laas-yah-nir… There are three people back there! I search the wall and find a loose panel. When I pull that panel the wall slides open.

A blast of gas comes out of a small room. Two men and a woman are chained up in the room. The woman is weakly calling for help. The men are sleeping. As the gas clears the prisoners start waking up. Roland talks to the woman. She says she remembers very little… an orc needed help but then he blew something in her face and said she would make a good slave… A woman I recognize as Suvaris from Skyrim says, “Oh, Ambarys… slaves? You’re trading slaves?!” Ambarys says he’s just holding them until their owner comes back and takes them to sell them. That damn orc said they would stay asleep the whole time! Revyn Sadri asks, “What have you done?” Other customers are voicing their disapproval. Ambarys is surprised at their reactions. He says he did it for them! With the coin he makes he can make a better life for all of them! Suvaris says people like Ambarys are why things never get any better around here! I get the chains off of the prisoners. One man is disoriented, the other mutters expletives about an orc. They have only minor injuries, so I use a healing spell and fix that up.

Ambarys is worried someone will tell the jarl about the slaves and he’ll be executed. I tell him to help me catch the orc and I’ll make sure he’s safe. He finally says he heard the orc talking to an outsider about a place he waylays travelers. A guard comes to arrest Ambarys. I say no, don’t. He says the jarl ordered it. I tell him to tell Ulfric that Ambarys is working with the dragonborn to stop to this slave trade bullshit, which is what he asked me to do. So unless the guard wants to explain how the slave trader got away… the guard asks how he can be sure I’m the dragonborn. I fus Ambarys with one word then ask how many people can do that? The guard says he will inform the jarl and leaves. Ambarys asks why I fus’d him. I say it was for getting hooked in this slave business instead of reporting the orc. He says he doesn’t care who is sold as a slave unless it’s a Dunmer. I hold my thumb and forefinger a centimeter apart and tell him he is that close to getting a full fus for being a racist asshole. He says it’s the Nords who are racist. I agree some are, and I fus them for it, too.

I tell Ambarys to show me where the meeting point is. He says no, the orc will kill him. I say the orc would have to get past me first, and that won’t happen. Is he going to show me or was I wrong when I said he was helping me stop the slave trade around here? He reluctantly says he’ll show me. He needs to get something and I should meet him by the gate. I tell him to make sure and be there. He says he will. He goes upstairs. Roland is looking sick again. Suvaris asks what is wrong, I tell her Roland has been poisoned… Suvaris says Wuunferth should have a potion, just get Roland to the palace. She says she can help me get him there, but she won’t go in, her kind is not welcome. I tell her that’s bullshit; anyone is welcome there. She says I clearly don’t know how things work here. I say I do, and I know it is going to change really fast or the Thalmor are going to tear this place apart and break the tower and plunge Nirn and Mundus and all of the planes of Oblivion into chaos and… I think I said too much. Roland is getting worse, so I accept Suvaris’ help. But as she is helping me with Roland I wake up.
    2. The Dreamer Base Mystery Box, Short Lucid, Shadow Man Chase (February 5, 2012)

      The Dreamer Base Mystery Box

Before I went to bed I kept daydreaming about accepting a quest to find the DB mystery box. I daydreamed about finding it guarded by a dragon, but I didn't open it because I wanted it to be a surprise. I also daydreamed about asking the elf for her name because it's weird to always say "the elf".

This dream started out with me standing in the middle of a city during rush hour. I was standing on a sidewalk waiting for the light to change so I could cross over. As I was about to cross I stopped because I noticed a familiar face down the sidewalk. It was the old man again watching me. I walked over to him because he looked like he had something to say to me.

"Ahh, hello dragonborn!" He said happily.

I became lucid right after he said "dragonborn". I had a bunch of flashbacks for a moment of all the dreams of the old man or me being dragonborn.

      "Woah, I'm dreaming?" I asked.
"You were quicker to figure it out this time!" He said laughing.
"...Have any quests for me?" I asked him.
"Yes, I want you to go and find the dreamer base chest. It will be dangerous, so you best find some friends."
"This sounds familiar... Who should I bring with me?" I asked.
He lifted his cane in a gesture and nearly hit me in the face before saying, "You'll find someone there..."

He was pointing towards all of the cars slowly driving threw rush hour. I had a feeling he was hinting to one person in particular. I sort of used the dragon morph on my eyes to give me a much more powerful vision. Things became more vivid and I could zoom in on objects. I scanned the drivers in each car until I came past something I recognized. Although his hairstyle was different and he had facial hair, I recognized his energy as Chris. He was driving a taxi and it didn't look like life was treating him too well. I ran around all of the cars and then jumped on the front of the taxi.

"Hey Chris! Life's a bitch isn't it?" I teased him.
"Where have you been??? I've been looking for you!" He said.
"What do you mean, 'where have you been'? You're supposed to be my dream guide and you're driving a taxi!" I yelled at him.
"...I needed a job." He said embarrassed.
"Come on, we have a quest." I told him.
"I'm a little busy right now." He said motioning towards the backseat.

I glared at him for a moment and he glared back. A woman then got out of the back seat and walked towards me. It took me a little bit to think it through before I noticed she was the elf.

"I'll help you find this treasure." She volunteered herself.
"Hey, it's the elf!" I said excited.
"My name is Claire." She said.
"Alright, we'll go find that chest then." Chris said.

I got in the back of the taxi and Claire sat in the passenger seat. Rush hour apparently ended during our chat and we drove through the city with ease. I was starting to wonder where the chest would be and how we would find it. I then noticed Chris playing with radar/GPS that finds treasure. We started driving on a country road, and we talked about things that I can't remember. We were about to drive over a bridge above a river, but the bridge started rising. Chris tried to make the jump, but it failed and we landed in the water. As the taxi went underwater we all swam out as quick as we could. The river's current was to strong for us to fight and it carried us into a tunnel under a mountain. Claire guided us through the tunnel until we came to a large hole above.

We all climbed out of the hole and came into a very large cavern. It was covered with ice and snow and it was freezing. On the far side of the cave I could see a chest. I ran towards it, but a full grown white dragon swooped down and stopped me half way. She tried to swipe me with her claws and I rolled past her. She took in a deep breath and jumped behind a rock as she tried to freeze me with her ice breath. Chris then threw a couple snowballs at the dragon and got her attention. She started chasing him and as Claire fired lightning bolts. The plan was working I guess.

I ran over to the chest as fast as I could. I knew it had to be the DB mystery box because it had a green diamond shaped lock that reminded me of the Dreamer Base logo. I dragon morphed my hand and slashed the lock off with my claws. Inside the chest I found a large white gemstone. Except I don't think it was a gem, but maybe a dragon egg. When I turned around I came face to face with an angry dragon mother. I looked to my left and saw Chris lying in the snow worn out. I backed away slowly and placed the egg back inside the chest. The dragon then flew by me and snatched the chest away. That's the last thing I remember before waking up.

      Short Lucid

The dream started with me in my old home in Loudonville. I was fighting with my sister about a magic lightbulb or something. And by fight, I mean she tried to stab me. She was mad because I made a lightbulb powered by light magic instead of electricity or something like that. So as she tried to stab me I ran and locked myself into my room. I became lucid when I realized that I haven't lived there in years. I ran back out my door and up the stairs while rubbing my hands together. Unfortunately, rubbing your hands together doesn't do much when your alarm goes off.

      Shadow Man Chase

My alarm went off, but I went back to sleep after daydreaming anyways. Before this dream I daydreamed about fighting another shadowman again.

I don't remember much of this dream. I was on a large space ship and just wandering aimlessly. I then became lucid though when I saw a shadow man. I quickly created a ball of light in front of me and summoned a full grown white dragon out of it. The shadow man started screaming and he ran away. I got on top of the dragon and chased the shadow man. He jumped up to the ceiling and phased through the vent. My dragon then jumped up and started climbing upside down on the ceiling with its claws. I kicked open the vent and a goblin fell out. The dragon looked down at it and growled.

"You can eat him later! Get the shadow man!" I said.

The dragon crawled into the vents and I dropped down to the goblin. I grabbed the goblin's head and rammed it into a wall. It knocked him out a lot easier than I thought. I looked over to the other side of the room and saw the shadow man fall out of another vent. The dragon soon followed. I ran over there so I could fight him, but the dragon had already frozen him with its ice breath. I was then going to shatter the ice, but the dragon ate it. That's the last thing I remember before waking up.

    3. Stopping the Dragon (January 6, 2012)

by , 01-07-2012 at 08:07 PM (Chronicles of Ethos)
      DreamLucidAwake

Many of the dreams I've had recently were too boring for me to remember except this one.

      Stopping the Dragon

I had a low level of lucidity for most of the dream. It was the middle of the night and I was standing in a large grassy field again. The night sky had many stars, but nothing particularly amazing. In the distance I could see a lake and some hills further away. To the left and right were two different castles that sat near the lake. I stood there and thought over which castle I wanted to explore. Then all of the sudden there was a sense of panic in the air. It felt like something dangerous like a battle was about to happen. So without thinking about which side I wanted to take, I made the long run to the castle on the left.

As I approached the gate I could see a few men setting up siege equipment in a tower. Looking through the metal bars of the gate I could see many people running around in chaos.

"Hey you! Stop!" Said one of the soldiers in the tower.
"Are you a Draflam?" The second guard asked.
"What the hell is a Draflam?" I responded.
A fireball hit the tower hard before one of the guards said, "Get inside quickly!"

The gate in front of me soon opened and I ran inside. I was constantly being pushed and shoved by the panicking citizens and the soldiers moving to position. The ground and walls of the castle shook a few times after each blast. I'm not even sure where these explosions where coming from. I eventually made it to a group of soldiers near a spiral staircase. Before I could even say anything I heard one final explosion from around the corner. I saw soldiers and debris fly against the other wall during the explosion.

The next thing I know all of the soldiers are yelling about a dragon. They managed to tie a black rope around the dragon that extended around the corner to where I'm at. I'm guessing the point of this was to make sure the dragon couldn't fly away and cause more trouble. I grabbed the rope and helped them pull against the dragons strength. Then I saw a familiar face to my side. It was a man that reminded me a lot of the squire and dragon tamer from previous dreams.

"You there!" He said pointing to me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him?
"Outsider, who are you? Are you Aranian or one of those Draflams?" He asked me.
"I'm a Dragonborn." Was the only way I could think to respond.
"Outsider, you are not welcome here!" He said starting to become angry with me.
"Please, just let me help your people." I said desperately.
"Very well then." He said overlooking the situation.
"Quick, give me your match." I requested.

He tossed a box of matches to me and I suddenly had an idea. The rope was black and reminded me of a fuse. So I struck a match and lit the rope on fire. The soldiers down the line quickly started moving away as they noticed the fire. Once the fire moved around the corner I realized we only had about 5 seconds left.

"Everyone get down now!" I yelled.

All of the soldiers soon started running away from the area and taking cover. Me and the squire moved ducked down behind the stone staircase. Right as we ducked down a huge explosion was heard and felt from where the dragon was. I soon got back up off the floor covered in dust and debris. As everyone stood up they started to cheer at the defeat of the dragon. I was happy for a moment until I realized something the others didn't. Although I didn't see it, I could feel that the dragon was only wounded by the explosion and it had just retreated. I also realized that the other castle was still attacking us.

I ran up the spiral staircase that led to the castle walls. From there I could see an army approaching from the other side of the lake. Soon there were arrows and fireballs flying at us. I ran into the tower near the gate to help out the soldiers who helped me. Sadly the dream skips here and I can't remember what happened with them.

I was now sitting on the couch in my grandmother's living room. I had memories from earlier in the dream, but I wasn't lucid. I remembered that we had won the battle, but I had only wounded the dragon. I became nervous and worried that the dragon could come back any moment and attack. I looked out the window and it was pitch black. That made me even more nervous because the dragon could be right outside and I wouldn't know it. I walked into the dining room and saw a few family members sitting at the table talking. I ignored them and looked at the window behind them. It was too dark to see out that window too.

"Speak of the devil! How are ya?" My uncle spoke to me.
"Jolly, just jolly!" I said nervously looking through another dark window.
"That's good. Hey you look a bit worried. Is something wrong?"
"Nope..." I said and walked back to the living room.

I then sat on the couch and fell asleep. Next thing I know it's the middle of the day and I'm sitting in a tree in my backyard. Everything looked normal except there was a stone tower growing out of the back of my house. In the distance you could also see castle walls that surrounded the villages in the kingdom. I was sitting there telling my story a group of people below the tree. I just wrote my story though, so I'll skip to the end. I explained to them that the dragon was still alive, and I knew it would come back and attack the top of that tower. So I told them how I was going to go to the top to fight it, but they all walked away nervously. There was one person though that didn't walk away though.

As soon as I saw her I became lucid. It was the same elf in the red dress from the "Dragonborn Magic" and "Healing Potion Quest" dreams. She raised her hands in a way that I knew she was about to cast a lightning spell at me. I slowed down time and jumped off of the tree branch. I just barely dodge the lightning bolt. I immediately started running to the backdoor of my house/tower.

To make things more confusing, when I entered the building it looked more like a lab or hospital. There were a few sets of stairs that I didn't have time to climb. I jumped over the railing to the top and looked back. I saw the door slam open and heard foot steps. I couldn't see anyone though. "Oh crap! She knows an invisibility spell!" I said and started running again.

As I ran down the hallway of the hospital I remembered my magic. I took in a deep breath, turned around, and let out a powerful roar. It knocked her hard off her feet and disabled her invisibility spell. I ran towards her and jumped up in the air to kick her. She grabbed my foot though and threw me into one of the rooms to the right. I got up and went back into the hallway. I took in another deep breath and prepared for a roar. She started moving between rooms very quickly so I couldn't get a good aim on her. Then suddenly I realized that I really need to breath. So I let out my roar down the hall without hitting anything. The elf then came out of nowhere and knocked me to the ground. She was now on top of me and was about to blast me with a spell. I managed to let out one quick weak roar though. It made her stumble back against the other wall. I continued to let out a series of quick roars to keep her pinned. I started to think about how I was only taking short quick breaths for a moment. I woke up shortly after realizing it probably wasn't healthy.

      End

I wonder how things would have turned out if I did get to fight the dragon a second time. I also thought that elf died before after I tried to help her. Now she is trying to kill us again. Whose side is she on?
    4. Dragonborn Magic (December 29, 2011)

      DreamLucidAwake

Haven't wrote in my journal lately because I was busy with holiday stuff and generally unmotivated. This dream is important to me because I learned two very useful abilities.

      Dragonborn Magic

I can't remember much of anything from before I became lucid. It was night time and I was in a field. There were also grey clouds in the sky and it was starting to snow. I was by myself and surrounded by a low fence that was generating a force field. Chris and some other guy were in another one not too far away. They were fighting with a woman, who was an elf, and casting spells at each other. So now my current goal was to figure out how to get out of the force field and help them.

At this point I became lucid. I put my hands up in the air and kept making a throwing motion. I was attempting to cast a magic missle spell, but I just couldn't get it to work. I don't think I was really focusing on the spell enough. After trying at least 10 times I gave up and something interesting happened.

"Why isn't it working?!" I asked myself. It frustrated me because I was doing the exact same thing the other three were doing. Instinct suddenly started to take over like it did when I first used time control. I jumped into the air and roared loudly. A powerful wave of blue energy came out of the roar and blasted through the force field like it was nothing. I noticed that the others were now fighting in the center of the field and regained complete control of my actions again.

I jumped over the fence and then noticed my dog standing in front of me. She started to push me as I rubbed my hands together. After I had won the fight with her over stabilization, returned my focus to the fight. Instinct kind of took over again and I held my hands out flat while looking into the distance. I shouted, "Summon Ice Dragon!" A few seconds later I saw a shadowed figure flying out of the fog. The dragon flew very fast and was able to reach me in only about 10 seconds. It was full grown and looked very tame. I made a few steps forwards in an attempt to mount it. My dog tackled me before I could even touch the dragon and I woke up.

      End

I learned the draconic roar and how to summon dragons. I feel like this is related to the dream I had where the old man told me I was Dragonborn. I wonder if I'll gain other abilities from it...
    5. 1 Lucid, 4 dreams, 1 fragment (December 14, 2011)

by , 12-15-2011 at 07:26 AM (Chronicles of Ethos)
      DreamLucidAwake

      Clicker and Flicker

I don't remember much of this dream. I was in a jungle in the middle of the day. There were two giant bugs the size of elephants coming towards me. One of them was a blue beatle named Clicker and the other was a cockroach named Flicker. We got to talking about something, but I can't remember what it was. Shortly after the conversation they held me down to the ground and I'm assuming they ate me.

      Village Mob

Another vague dream. This time I was in a small mountain village. I remember being a chased by a few villagers down the street. I stopped by several houses and shops trying to seek help. Unfortunately all these people were also angry and ended up joining the mob. Eventually I ran to the town square. There was a very large chest their sitting next to the fountain. I pretty much locked myself inside the chest and hid in there for the rest of the dream.

      Animal & Lucid Dream Study

It was the middle of the night and I was in a room of a very tall apartment building. I was with a veterinarian, my sister, a tiger, and a very large dog. I was assisting her in examining the tiger's sleeping state. We were trying to figure out if it lucid dreams or not. We gave it a shot of some kind and it fell asleep. Strangely it was asleep but standing in a trance like state.

My sister was looking out the window and said that a man was at the front door of the building. I looked down and noticed he had a shopping cart full of random junk (including a laser cannon). I started to panic and run around the room because we had asked him earlier to bring us supplies. We didn't tell him that we were examining tigers, which are not allowed in apartment buildings.

When the man came into the room I froze in place and stare at him for a moment. I looked around the room and noticed that the veterinarian and the tiger had disappeared. So I walked over to him, took the shopping cart, thanked him, and closed the door. I turned back around and the veterinarian and tiger were standing there again.

We started to examine the tiger again. She lifted the tiger's eye lids and I looked at its eyes with a flash light. It's eyes were moving rapidly and I said it was a REM period. She then attached some wires to its head so we could read its brain activity. Once again my sister motioned me towards the window. I looked down to see the man again with a shopping cart full of books. I panicked again because I knew that the veterinarian wouldn't be able to hide the tiger when it's attached to a machine.

The man knocked on the door and I looked to see that the tiger and woman had somehow disappeard again. I opened the door, took the shopping cart full of books, and told the man he is no longer needed. The books weren't even relevant as they were childrens books. So I put the pile of books in a corner somewhere to keep them out of the way. I turned around again knowing that she would somehow reappear with the tiger again. She was sitting in the middle of the room watching the tiger as if nothing happened.

The results from the machine came in and we somehow came to the conclusion that the tiger was lucid dreaming. Because the experiment on the tiger was a success, we decided to move on to the dog. We fallowed a very similar procedure as before. About half way through it though I felt the urge to go outside.

The next thing I remember is pulling out a handgun and walking up to a green car. A few men came out of the car with their hands in the air. The looked like they were gang members or something and major assholes. I guess I was trying to hijack their car or something. I got into the car and as I was about to drive away one of them tried pulling out a gun. So I pretty much filled them with bullet holes, but thankfully in this dream world people don't die easily. They did back off though and the dream ended.

      Cloud Dragon Fragment

It was a fragment of me standing on an old dirt path. I was looking up at the bright blue sky and took notice to the clouds. One cloud in particular was very large and looked very much like a dragon in the sky. If they were white and fluffy that is.

      Breakfast Buffet

I woke up to my parents yelling at me about my algebra homework. I ignored most of the conversation until it got to the point about a breakfast buffet. The next thing I know I'm in a park with a bunch of people, tables, and freezers we stole from walmart.

So I got in line next to the freezers behind these two girls. As they were picking out their breakfast items I somehow ended up holding open the freezer door for them. I just stood there holding open a door out of helpfulness for what felt like 10 minutes. It resulted in severe boredom and hunger that I think I tolerated fairly well. As a reward for my troubles, the girls gave me a grilled cheese sandwich. That made me really happy because I was starving. It was also the most delicious thing I have ever eaten.

I then looked in the freezer and all they had was little pouches of chocolate coins. I guess I was okay with this though and a took a couple. At the end of line was a money dispenser to pay for the food. I reached into my pocket and struggled to pull out a few gold coins and a dead mouse. I somehow managed to fit my coins and mouse into the coin slot and walked on towards a table. I woke up as I was making my way towards my family.

      The Dragonborn

I remember it was the middle of the night and I was in some house in the middle of nowhere. There were a few other guys there including an old man. He said that I was "dragonborn" and I'm not sure what he meant by that. I assumed it meant something like I am a dragon in human form. We got to talking for a little bit and he gave me a "quest" to fix his satellite dish. So me and this other guy who was like a martial artist accepted.

So we both jumped off the porch and did a pk roll for no reason at all. We then walked around to the side of the house and climbed onto the roof. I started to adjust the satellite dish. I nearly lost my balance a few times, but managed keep myself from falling. While I was up there, I kept getting images in my mind of a large gate and some sort of battle. After I finished my adjustments I jumped down and pk rolled because I could and went back inside.

I was told the satellite still needed more adjustments, so we all went outside. I climbed back onto the roof and had about 5 people on the ground watching me. As I adjusted the dish it started to rain a little. It was a tedious task. At one point there was a flash of lightning that came with another image with a dragon. This caught me by surprise and I slipped and fell off of the roof. As I fell head first I motioned myself into a roll and actually put it to practical use.

I was still lying on my back though after falling. As I picked myself up off the ground my vision was suddenly blinded.
As with blindness came lucidity to my amazement. I stayed calm and started rubbing my hands together and feeling the tree next to me. This wasn't enough to bring my vision back though, so my solution was to switch to a third person view. This brought my vision back and even changed night to day.

As I was finishing with my stabilization I suddenly heard my dog barking in the real world. I struggled to keep my dream stable. I managed to hold the dream together for about a minute before it turned into nothing but fragmented images. I had no more hope at this point and woke up.

When I got out of bed I looked around to see what my dog would have been barking at. I then saw her on the floor moving her legs and growling in her sleep. Ironically my dream had ended due to a dream of hers.

      End

I feel this night was memorable for three reasons.
      1. It's the funnest night of dreams I've had in a while.
      2. It's the first time I've been able to break out of blindness in a dream.
      3. Dragonborn sounds like an awesome dream title and I'm keeping it.

EDIT: I just realized in the Dragonborn dream Chris was one of the guys there.
