Morning of February 14, 2016. Sunday. Dream #: 17,954-05. Reading time (optimized): 2 min. In my dream, my wife Zsuzsanna and I are in a shed that may be a distorted version of our present home’s shed. There is also an unknown male character. A trapdoor spider about four times bigger than a real one is near the doorway. It bites Zsuzsanna on her right knee, but she is soon a young version of the Erin Walton character (played years ago by Mary Beth McDonough), which puzzles my dream self in a way that alters my level of awareness. The man holds her as she cries and sits down and he gives her an injection near her right knee with a hypodermic needle (a very rare dream prop for me), which contains the cure. It seems she will recover. I look in the doorway, and there stands the four-times-bigger trapdoor spider. I eventually understand that the spider is Kali. “She is the mighty aspect of the goddess Durga. The name of Kali means black one and force of time. She is therefore called the Goddess of Time, Change, Power, Creation, Preservation, and Destruction.” (Kali often has four arms and two legs, which makes her an “insect,” not a “spider.”) Zsuzsanna used to play with trapdoor spiders without knowing they were venomous (yet luckily was never bitten). Secondly, I associate Erin Walton with the petting of a deer (relating to a documentary feature about her that I saw years ago as well as the Waltons episode “The Fawn”), which was like a very similar image in a photograph Zsuzsanna sent me before we met of her feeding a deer. Zsuzsanna’s right knee was miraculously healed (even though doctors said it could never be) when we first met and shared meditations. Although there are other layers, two are interesting and fit perfectly. One is a ghost story related to Kali as a demonic living statue (though I no longer have that comic book). On Thursday, February 14th, 1974, I saw “The Waltons” episode “The Ghost Story.” “Strange things are occurring at the Walton home. The family uses a Ouija board to ask questions about the happenings. A small boy staying at the home is to leave to meet his father. Things happen to prevent this.” The original newspaper summary: “John-Boy obtains a ‘spirit board’ which is reputed to foretell the future and to put its interrogators in touch with the psychic world. When the board appears to be delivering mysterious messages, Grandma and Olivia insist that the children stop playing with it.” The trapdoor spider in my dream seems associated with a Ouija board (which is dependent on the use of hands and which is what a spider also represents in some dreams in a negative context), also representing Kali, also representing “messages” in the liminal stages of sleep which have various transpersonal sources. Because my 1971 dream features doorway waking symbolism using Kali, it seems a relevant marker. On one level, it serves as a personal confirmation against so-called psychics, “dream interpreters,” or ideas from questionable sources.

I am heading towards an airport with the sister and brother-in-law for a good friend of mine, as well as my at Kali in a small animal carrier. We are on a small charter plane and it is full of people but everyone besides one man and us is elderly. Someone says something about not telling customs where we are going and to say that we are travelling with the elderly people as relatives. For some reason we fear being turned bak if the security and customs people at the airport learn why we are really travelling (which was a really mundane reason in the dream but I forget the reason now.) We get to the air port and my friend's sister and husband and I are seperated and I panick because I do not know what time to catch the next fight or where, because they have the ticket. I eventually figure out that I have to go to a nearby town, callled Pickwick in the dream, to catch the connecting flight, but in the partking lot of the airport I am currently in, my cat deficates all over her carrier and I have no where to clean it and I cannot catch a cab because of it. I eventually ditch the carrier itself, clean off my cat and place her in my carry-on bag (in which she sleeps peacefully) and I run into the man who I met on the charter plane who was not elderly, just as security comes to check our ID and bags. Not having my bording pass (it is with the people I got seperated from) the man I don't know takes me in his arms and tells me to say that I am his fiancee. He tells me his name is Anthony. Some how this is enough to convince the security guards and they let us through the gates and out of the airport, where Anthony and I catch a bus to Pickwick, where our next plane await. I meet up withmy friend's sister and brother-in-law when we get to that town's airport, though Anthony disappears and I do not see him join us on our connecting flight, which makes me sad. We far in the south in our destination (Florida?) walking through a forest of some kind. I want to say it was a bamboo forest, but I am not sure. Most of the trees were tall and narrow anyway and the shrubs were short and thin branched and few had any leaves. There wer many tourists on the path of varying age and we all walking in one direction on the winding path. The path passed a large circular pond that was dried up and in a bush near the edge of the pond I saw a dog laying on it's back. When I got closer I saw that it was my dog Sadie who died years ago. I looked at her chest and saw her breathing, but I knew in the dream that she was dead, especially since branches of the bush she was laying on protrouded from various parts of her body, including her mouth, as if her body had been laying there for a long time and the bush just grow through it. She was not in pain or distress and I could sense she had appeared to me for a reason but I could not figure out why, though I did take this chance to say goodbye to her properly, since I did not get to do so in waking life when she passed away. The tour group is moving on a head of me and I do not want to be left behind so I run to catch up but I stop and glance one more time at Sadie when I am at the other side of the pond. Her body has turned to a wooden log and her limbs and tails knarled branches, and I feel a sense of relief, like I know she has finally moved on and her body had returned to the earth. I catch up to the tour group and they are staring at a large pit filled with alligators. I panick because I realize at this point that me cat Kali had been following me like a dog and I haven't seen her for a while. Now that I know there are alligators in the forest I am afraid for her safety. I search everywhere, even go back to Sadie's pond, but I cannot find Kali anywhere. Later I find her near the rental car that the people I am travelling with have. On our flight back to Pickwick, I see Anthony on our plane but he does not talk or even look at me, like we never met before and he does not recognize me. Back at Pickwick we find out our luggage has gone to the airport we first landed at near the start of the dream. While there I try to retrieve my cat's original carrier, but not only has it not been cleaned yet but someone has broken it down into little peices. While the large commerical jet that took us to Florida had no problem with my cat Kali travelling in my carry-on bag, the small charter plane that is supposed to take us home will not let me board until my cat is in a proper carrier. They do agree to wait for me however and the rest of the passengers get grumpy and upset with me because they have to wait while I find a new carrier for Kali. I cannot remember any more of this dream.
I'm leaving school with H, and we're running around with our arms spread out making airplane noises. Just acting as dumb as we want to be. This school is just huge...it's more than the regular mash up of all the schools I've gone to. It's also comprised of random buildings like from malls and airports. Anyways...she leaves, and this other girl sneaks up behind me and kisses me on the cheek. I called them ninja kisses in my dream. She has red curly hair, pale skin, light acne, and nothing really stands out with her. But apparently she's my girlfriend. We went down three escalators and she put her shoes on one that was heading up, and I was expecting for her to say she lost them when we got to the bottom. She asked a security guard for a new book, and it looked like a bible. I told her "why didn't you just nab one from a hotel or something"? She handed it too me, and I noticed it was a religious book, but it talked about theism. I guess it just had that look on purpose. I remember seeing "Kali" in it. (The name Kali comes from kāla, which means black, time, death, lord of death, Shiva. According to wikipedia) Anyways...there were a bunch of people trying to tell me that I shouldn't date this girl because of her looks, but I was ignoring them. I think there was one guy who actually supported what I was doing. Anyways...we just spent the rest of the dream leaving that labyrinth of a place.
I remember my mother telling me to go outside and play in the rain. I argued that I'd look silly and if I saw someone I knew I'd be embarrassed.. Anyways.. I ended up frolicking in the front yard. Until Paige, Kali, and Lance walked by.. I froze until they were out of sight. There was about half a foot deep pool of water covering the entire surface. And the rain was soothingly warm? It wasn't very well lit either.. At the time I was sort of obsessed with Paige.. -Kali -Paige -Lance -Rain -Dark
I am at a zoo or park or something and there is a large circular enclosure that sinks into the ground and people can look into from above. I am a part of a research team there to study the newly arrived inhabitants of the enclosure which consist of normal looking domestic cats - normal except for the fact that they have a naturally built in poisonous bite. Two of the cats stand out to me because they look exactly like my two kittens Kali and Mirage, though in the dream I know they are not actually my cats: Getting close to the cats is hard because they are wild in behaviour and shy away from humans. Capturing them is equally hard because they try to use their poisonous bite when cornered or picked up, and indeed one of the researchers is bitten and has to be rushed to the hospital. The cats are natural tree climbers and spend most of their time in the branches of the tree in the enclosure, adding to the difficulty in reaching them. I observe the cats from a distance for several days before setting up a small camp within the enclosure to observe them a little closer. In a few more days the cats are used to my presence and even come out of the trees to explore and investigate my stuff like normal curious housecats would do. They still run away when I approach them though. I end of the dream is a bit fuzzy but I am able to befriend the two cats that look like mine and they even let me hold them, so I can do physical assessments on them. I cannot remember the end of the dream.
