    1. Basement world with time skips. Lucid nightmare

The first thing I remember is I'm in a strange house and I see the door to the basement. I walk down it with several other dream characters, a group of three. After defending the stairs, I find myself in a labyrinth. This maze is filled with many people who live there but after much searching, we find a large hostile group that is set on killing everyone in the labyrinth.

Our group tries to stop this mob of hostiles, but after a while, we realize that nothing we do stops them. After a while, our group flees up the stairs. I see a large man there who I seemed to assume is my boss. (At this point I thought to myself that I never saw any of these people in real life and it must be a dream but I didn't think much of it)

After asking my "Boss" for help, he seals the entrance to the basement with a thick ice wall. When I yell that the people down there need our help, he simply responds with "It's better they die than one of us"

At this point, I get stuck in a time loop and I'll explain how the dream/nightmare progresses from here. Behind the sealed door is an elevator with a metal sliding locked door to an elevator. Up this elevator is a room filled with "Heroes" a group that my "boss" seemed to be a member of. After 5 minutes after the "boss" said his line, the door breaks down and the lights go out. The entities would then break the ice wall and open the metal locked elevator. Since it was dark, I could only hear the door sliding open and the elevator going up and down. Once the elevator went up and all the "heroes" were slaughtered, a red light would turn on and the enteties would then hunt down myself and one other dream character I was with. I was unable to wake up until I passed both win conditions.
      1. The Heroes can't die.
      2. Myself and the DC I was with must not get captured or killed.

If one of the win conditions wasn't met (my partner or a hero died), I must be killed. Once I am killed, the scenario resets and I have to come up with a plan before they breach the ice wall.

Time after time, they broke through the wall, I heared the sliding of the metal door and the light turned on, I was cut in half and I was reset. After having dealt with the pain and fear of dying over and over again, I decide to take the lift up myself and see if I could defend it myself. After taking the lift up, I see all of the heroes. I then see something fly above me and realize that the "entities" we're in the elevator with me. I then see all of the heroes get slaughtered. Within the context of the dream, I was their friends so it hurt me greatly to see them die in front of me. I was also lucid at the time and wondered how I could feel for people I never met and didn't exist. After getting stabbed for the last time, I said enough is enough.

When I respawned, I saw a computer with the text "exit". I looked down and pressed "enter". The computer said nuclear launch commencing and I felt great fear. I looked out side and flew through the wall to see a red light flying closer and closer. Dealing great fear, I became completely lucid and remembered the task of the month.

      ***TOTM***

I quickly flew down to the road, picked up a parked car and carried it into the sky yelling F*CK YOU!!!!

I herd a *boom* as I flew away carrying the car whilst freaking out because I was going to have to suffer death again before I awoke. I felt the blast burn, fold, then disintegrate my body. After experiencing agony for the last time in that nightmare I awoke. I had a ton of trouble falling back asleep so I ended up staying awake till I had to get up.

That was my first lucid nightmare since a long time ago and they are just as scary and infuriating as ever.

    2. Claustrophobic tunnel escape

      by , 07-08-2016 at 04:53 AM
Non-lucid to lucid nightmare of sorts. It's hard to describe the place I'm in but I'll do my best. Okay, say you were in a warehouse type of place but with no roof & there are these kind of balconies but industrial like. That's as good as I can describe it. The world is basically ending & these guys are telling me the only way out is to come with them. So we climb up to the surrounding balcony & it leads to a door & through the door there is this tunnel.... The threat that will end us all is this constant water rising & people are trying to get to higher ground but it's obvious that even that will not save us. They tell me we need to get into this tube which is like 2 feet in diameter & it will take us into the earth somewhere where we will be safe. So, I was like okay, I'm claustrophobic but it's to save my life right? Then they tell me we will be sliding in said small fucking tunnel tube for a fucking hour but we will be fine. I become lucid as I'm thinking I have to be dreaming because this is all scary but nonetheless stupid. And then I start to panic & I just need to get away from this dream & right on cue before I could change anything my husband calls to wake me up.

I know why I had this dream. I was reading this book on meditation & it has you pay attention to your breathing. Breathe like you are breathing blue fluid which simulates the eather & yes in this book it's spelled that way on purpose.... And the tube came from when Mike & I had to go to one of the other pools recently due to our pool has the swim meet going on & he gashed his head in one of their tube slides that were made for kids... And I "am" claustrophobic & hate said tubes in general but I can deal with them if they are really fast or short rides.... Not to mention I'm overwhelmed with shit going on in my life right now so it all makes perfect sense. I would have liked to change the scene though because I had a dreamscape planned out. Oh well.

    3. #1 - Lucid Burglary & Fragments

      by , 06-15-2016 at 02:34 AM
      Background

I'd known about lucid dreaming for a long time, but it took longer for me to experience it, and it was essentially spontaneously. I'd found I could accidentally go through a WILD-like trance when struggling to fall asleep after waking up early. The dreams would start off at a distance, like a television screen, and then become 'real', often as dream chains that I had some conscious influence over. Sometimes they were fragmented (e.g. being frozen in darkness, having very blurry vision, or the only sensation being the feeling of flying very fast), but now and then the clarity and reality of the scenes I experienced would blow me away. Still, I was unable to stabilise them. A few days ago I discovered that spoken commands like 'increase lucidity' could turn a vague fragment into a full-fledged visual scene, which was encouraging.

Waking Myself Up From A Burglary Dream

I'd told myself that I would write up any dreams I'd have that night and post them to DV for my first entry, so it's only fitting that I ended up having my first (semi-)lucid nightmare. After waking up in the morning and went back to sleep, I had a dream where I was sitting around a table with a few people, including, I think, a family friend. I was concerned about an exam that was coming up. I was worried that a question about acid-base chemistry was going to come up; something involving a base in ammonia, and I was sure that it was some other substance than the ammonia itself - NaBH4 or NH4OH. But the exam was cancelled because of an outbreak of 'parainfluenza', and this news was accompanied by the image of a woman with sore-looking yellow eyes. Since it was cancelled, I could rest easy and go to sleep.

This led into another dream where I was at home in the night, looking down the stairs so that I could see an area near the front door. I heard noises near the front door and looked closer. There was a fairly short man standing there. I thought it was my father - though I wasn't expecting to see him - so I called out to him. Rather than respond in kind, he shushed me, and I realised that it was an intruder. More of these intruders came through, so I retreated into a nearby empty room. At this point I began to suspect something was off. I thought I might be dreaming, but if so I wanted to wake up, so I could be sure and not have to worry about the intruders anymore. This wish suddenly ended the dream. It was replaced by text filling my field of view, being read off by a calm male voiceover. It said something along the lines of, "Welcome to your lucid dream. Wake up now or wake up dead in two weeks." At the time I think I had enough critical faculties to not be sure if this was right, but I realised I was in sleep paralysis and I really wanted to get out of it. I found that, surprisingly, I could slightly move my body with great effort. With what felt like a lot of willpower, I forced myself to move and woke up.

There wasn't any lingering feeling of terror, which is my usual criterion for a nightmare, but I think this fit the bill, if only because it made me realise that a semi-lucid dream could still be unpleasant.

      Video Game Fragments

I was watching a boy playing a FPS game, switching between my view of him and a view inside the video game itself. He was clearing a large building with many corridors similar to a hospital - of what enemy I don't know - and then went up a curved staircase, which had many offices running alongside it, arranged in a staircase fashion themselves. The general aesthetic was wood and blue light. By entering this area he went into a sort of mini-game where he blitzed through the offices at high speed, which also involved strips of light flashing on his mousemat very fast. I thought it involved predicting the lights, but when I asked he told me that it was actually a very fast memory game, which observation seemed to confirm.

I thought about the idea of being sleep-deprived from addiction to virtual reality. I imagined a person distracting themselves from their tiredness by immersing themselves more into it. I have a dream in which I see scenes from an online FPS game called Xibalba, which I think actually represent a place within one level. Bizarrely, I also pondered the merits of a religion that worships the electron transition in one type of molecule (containing nitrogen!) versus a rival religion that worships another.
    4. A nightmare turned into a lucid dream

      by , 08-07-2015 at 07:37 PM
Finally! After two weeks of trying to lucid dream once again, I finally have another one. As usual, I woke up before sunrise and went back to sleep, reminding myself to do reality checks if I dream.

      The Dream

The dream started off as a false awakening nightmare. I was lying on my bed in the dark and there were these figures in the shadow talking about how much they hate me because all my weaknesses and insecurities. They talked about how much they hated me and that my roommates are trying to kick me out because they are starting to dislike me. Then I tell myself to stay calm - this is just a dream.

I floated on up and out of my bed to use the bathroom. I did another reality check by looking at my hands. My fingers were deformed; it must be a dream then because my fingers aren't broken in real life. I looked into the bathroom mirror and saw that my hair was gray and my skin was wrinkly; this must be a dream since I'm much younger in real life. I jumped and try to fly, but could not - it felt too real. Next, I decided to open the closet. I tried to imagine something magical. But there wasn't: There was a teddy bear on the top rack and a glass of red wine in the lower one.

I was apprehensive about drinking the wine since I don't know what will happen after. Why did my subconscious offer me a teddy bear and a glass of red wine? Why did I turn into an old man with deformed hands? I don't know what possessed me about I held the large wine glass with two hands, bowed to the closet, and gulped it down as though it were an antidote. I blanked out.

Dream Signs: Looking into the mirror. Hand/finger check. Nightmare.

Interpretation: A very literal reflection of my fears and insecurities.

    5. First lucid in 2 weeks.

      by , 01-05-2015 at 09:13 AM
(I went to sleep in a car on the way out of state.)
I dreamt woke up in my bed at night, the room was exceedingly bright even though in my heart I knew it was night time. I did the hand RC and my fingers were growing in weird angles.

      ************************************************** ****Que: Lucidity****************************************** **********************
I took a moment to observe how I think while dreaming and found it shockingly similar to waking life, I had lucids before but none had ever come to this level of clarity. I live in the basement so it came as a shock when I opened my door and came out on the front lawn. I walked through a town that looked nothing like mine and explored the world around me(especially touching the concrete walls and looking at how much detail they had). I walked to my high school and found out that it is in the same relative location as waking life which was weird since i did not recognize anything else. Standing at the corner to drive into the student parking lot was my dream guide Morpheus(Aren't I lucky?). He ushered me into the school and said that he could not follow. I explored the school and to my surprise I had my school laptop by my side without ever remembering to bring it. Then a tall fat kid came and tried to bully me by stealing it. I felt the emotional response of rage even knowing that this was a dream, and so I grabbed him, and ate his soul dementor style(sans kiss thankfully there was SOME distance). I explored some more and found an abandoned janitors closet, at this point shit went down and all the lights in the school dimmed to a dark red and blood painted the walls. Instantly I thought of the demo to silent hill P.T and my subconscious (bless/curse its soul) decided to go with my expectations and made a baby cry in the closet(I could only see through a crack in the doorway. I then heard my dreamguide's voice saying "I know the only me is me, are you sure the only you is you?" I thought wryly to myself My subconscious and I are the same and different, and the only you is NOT you since you are a part of me. I turned around to fast to walk in the other direction and found myself in an accidental scene change. Now my friend Jacob sat in a dark office with me but he was different. He had sharklike teeth and pure black eyes. I rolled mine and said "Now what the fuck are YOU supposed to represent." "I am everything you hate about yourself." he replied darkly. That confused me as there was nothing similar between me and my friend from school but I had just got off the phone with him when I dozed off so maybe that was it. I was like "Hah no I don't have the time to deal with nightmares, you do realize this is MY dream right? I can obliterate you with just a thought." He grinned challengingly at me and I found my powers not working. I laughed at the audacity of my subconscious and overpowered it through aggressive control if passive would not do it. I went into tiger stance like Udyr from league of legends laid the smack down hard. After I was finished pummeling him I went out of the school and walked on the road out of town, thinking about philosophical questions, deep meanings, and the nature of my reality that was around me. Eventually I woke up and opened my laptop to write this down.
    6. My 1st Lucid Nightmare

      by , 09-09-2013 at 05:23 PM (Pinkey's Dream Journal.)
I never thought I would have a nightmare, especially a Lucid Nightmare. I always thought, "Well Im always in such a great mood and when I have a LD I'm always so happy." I was wrong. In my dream, I wake up and it is hard to move. Its really dark I can barely see. Theres someone else near me but idk where. I finally get up and start feeling my face and everything. My face and leg is numb. Somehow this is when I knew I was dreaming. So I would start to freak out, then id calm down cuz I knew I was just dreamin. I sat in a chair and somebody yanked me back and I slid in the chair out of the room. I saw the guy poke his head out and then go back in my room. I was trying to scream to wake everyone in the house up but I couldnt. Somehow this worked: I had to put my hand on my face and push up to wake myself up. I had a couple False Awakenings before I finally woke up. Overall I am dissapointed in the way I handled my Lucid Nightmare. I knew I was dreaming and I was able to calm myself down. I should have took control and turned it into a great fun dream but I couldnt for some reason. And I wish I didnt force myself awake. Lucid Nightmares can happen to anyone at anytime. If you read ths before your next Lucid Nightmare remember, the next time you have a lucid nightmare, try to control it and turn it into a nice fun dream or something and lemme know how it goes. I think I was too shocked and inexperienced to be able to turn the outcome of my nightmare around. Maybe next time. If you read this I thank you!

    7. 4th Lucid Dream (1st Lucid Nightmare)

by , 12-01-2012 at 02:35 PM (The Redeeming Dreamer)
      10:30-4:30
      Dec. 1, 2012

I was riding a bike down a city road. Apparently, I was trying to get home. I was going down the streets at a very fast speed. There were some cars on the road.
As I passed an island in the middle of the road, I ran over some bushes. I then heard the howling of some wolves. I was very frightened. I started pedaling much faster. I saw the wolves chasing me. This was very scary. The closer I got to my house, the more aware I was becoming of the dream. When I got to my house, and as I went up my steps, I became lucid.

The wolves were still after me. I didn't know what to do, so I jumped through a wall in my house. I started to fall through many different places. I couldn't stop myself. The falling through each "world" was so weird, it was almost as frightening as the wolves. I was also gaining velocity. As I fell, I realized I didn't want to do this, and I just wanted to wake up. I closed my eyes and woke up.

I woke up scared. I tried to sleep after a while, but I had to go to the bathroom. Even after a bunch of reality checks, I wasn't sure if I was in a false awakening. I was afraid a monster might chase me if I left my room. I then hoped that I was awake and went to the bathroom. I couldn't go back to sleep, so I tried reading for a while. After a few minutes, my mom came to my room and said I looked exhausted, so she made me go back to sleep.

    8. 4/24/10 Black Goat Nightmare

      by , 07-26-2010 at 08:40 PM
      Archiving from IRL dreamjournal.

I was at my friend Randi's house during the day, and we were hanging out with our other friend Tristan. Tristan went to take a shower, and I went into the kitchen- when I suddenly realized that Randi and his mother were gone...I didn't see that they left but I more so felt that their energy wasn't in the house. I could hear the shower water running, and knew that Tristan was still there and when I was thinking about this my cell phone vibrated, and I got a picture text.

It was a picture of a dead little boy standing in front of the shower curtains that Tristan was showering in, and I immediately panicked and ran for the bathroom- but a medium sized black goat was sitting across the hall staring at the bathroom door. I froze, and could feel an utter presence of evil radiating from the creature- so much that I felt an urge to wipe it out, kill it. (I'm an animal lover btw). It also seemed to have rabbit like qualities.

The thing about the goat was that it was beheaded. Its head was floating a foot next to it and the whole body of the goat would seem glitchy, like its image was flickering- and it would twitch a lot. Its eyes were the scariest thing about it, such dark energy emanating from it...it had white markings on its face as well.

I went to hit the goat but I became paralyzed when I came within a foot of the creature, this is when I had a moment of lucidity- I realized I was dreaming and I wanted OUT. The thing was, I was still paralyzed and I couldn't get out of my dream.

When I finally ripped myself out of the dream (yes it felt like I had to rip myself out, it was such a struggle), my head hurt IMMENSELY and my whole body felt like jello, and my muscles were extremely sore...when I tried to stand up I stumbled and it was kind of like being drunk. Overall, pretty freaky experience.
