      Bear
My girlfriend and I were up above my childhood town by the irrigation ditch which was drained. Sneaking along the ditch was three small anthropomorphic animals. There was a badger, a raccoon, and something else maybe a bird. On the other side of the ditch I saw a baby bear. My girlfriend said "Ahhh". It was cute as all hell and I noticed another one. I knew that momma bear would be showing up and so I climbed up a downed tree and up it at an angle to its stump. It had been cut with a chainsaw, was pretty skinny, and right in front of its stump was another almost identical stump. I was having trouble balancing and intended on jumping to the next stump when I saw momma come through the brush roaring angrily. "Beth, get up here!" Beth is my sisters name and I said "Why did I call you Beth? Sorry, but get up here".. Not like it would have done a bit of good because we were right between the babies and their mother. And now there was two moms. Last thing I remember was deciding whether or not to jump down and run away along the ditch.

      Scuba Diving
I was looking through the newspaper classified for rental homes and came across an interesting add. For some reason it gave a higher price if you were a certified scuba diver or treasure hunter. The scene transitioned and my girlfriend and I were standing behind an old yellow 1 bedroom house by a shallow bay. We stood on a small, cracked patio surrounded by a row of brick that sort of held back the over grown grass, weeds, and bushes. Who new what old useless things were buried in the mud and the grass. It was cold, damp, and the sky was gray. Looking at one edge of the patio under some brush was some tanks and scuba gear. I come to the conclusion that the reason the rent was higher was because of they didn't want to share the treasure.

Soon enough we get into the water and swim around just a bit. I am a bit nervous and so I don't dive to deep. In fact I don't dive any more than I would without gear. Out in the bay are a few old boats and a some steal oil rig looking thing. I decide that there isn't going to be anything out there and that this was a waist of time and possibly dangerous. My girlfriend is is reluctant to get out despite the cold. End
    2. Getting to the beach

In my dream last night, I remember driving. I was in a car with someone (a female) and I was driving back and forth between another person's house and the beach. After driving the route a couple of times, I found a shortcut down this dirt road that would cut the trip in half. So my friend and I drove to the person's house and told him about the shortcut. He wanted to drive, so I let him. But when we came to the dirt road, he missed the turn. I told him he had missed the turn, so we had to back up for what seemed like a long time and ended up starting all over. But when we finally got to the turn, there were a bunch of men there installing barriers and turnstile-type gates so that no cars could get through. So we ended up having to go the rest of the way on foot. At the very last part was a tall slide that you had to climb up and slide down to get to the beach. I looked up and noticed that towards the top of the ladder, a couple of rungs were missing. I remember thinking it looked dangerous and didn't know if I wanted to climb up the ladder or not. My friend that I had been driving with climbed up the ladder and went down the slide out of sight on the other side of this sand dune. I ran over to see if she was all right and she told me that she was and that the bottom of the slide curved and launched you out in the air and down this embankment. I looked at what she was talking about and realized that she had been lucky to land where she had because if she had gone any further, she would have fallen off of a cliff.

In my next dream, I'm with a group of people about to go scuba diving. We are getting ready for the dive but everyone is taking so long that it's getting dark outside. I remember thinking, "It's not supposed to be but this is turning into a night dive. I had better go get my dive lights."
    3. A restless sleep...

      by , 09-26-2011 at 12:41 PM (Pop's Dream Journal)
I've been battling a cold for the past several days and my dream circuits seem to have gone haywire. Last night, I dreamed the same scene over and over again for what seemed like about 10 times:

I'm with a group of scuba divers and we're aboout to get in the water and be photographed. As we do our dive, the pictures display like a slideshow, one right after another. Some are good, some are blurry. For some reason, I sense that some of the divers are frightened or uneasy. Then I see a picture of a shark, but it's dead. I find the body of the shark underwater and take about two or three shark's teeth before getting the uneasy feeling that other sharks may come and feed on the dead one, so I leave.

    4. Fragments for July 25 2011

      1. I find myself scuba diving with two attractive female archaeologists. As we explore a ruined site, I find a pot that appears to be made of intricately woven rattlesnake tails. I take out a green underwater Sharpie and label the artifact, adding the poetic tag "Here be dragons, the children of the gods." After I take the pot back up above water, my companions chide me for my extra writing.

      2. I go back to my high school over the summer to take a refresher course in Latin. My senior lounge has been moved to the basement and vastly upgraded, with plush seating and large flatscreen TVs. As I go to fetch my belongings from a locker, I find that they have been moved from where I left them; there's not enough locker capacity to go around, and I inadvertently took one from a freshman girl.
    5. Piranha-Inspired Aquatic Nightmare plus Brief Lucidity in the Back of a Car

I was scuba diving with my instructor on the face of a giant wall covered in coral & plants. A stingray appeared out of no where & was pretty amazing to watch as it undulated on its way up the wall. It attacked my instructor, but not with its tail. It had two big fangs/talons that came out of the top side & really messed him up. Then it attacked me. I tried to whip it with something & caught it on the "nose". Don't remember how this one resolved or if I just woke up.

Second dream I was in the backseat of a car that was parked with the break set. The car started rolling back, then moving forward. I grabbed the wheel & drove the car around the parking lot in a circle. Once I had circled a full revolution, I was back to where I'd been before but the parking lot was different. I realized this was a dream & decided to fly. While flying I remembered I had lost lucidity last time because I closed my eyes, so I tried to make sure my eyes were open WIDE. When I did this, I opened my eyes in bed & I was instantly awake. Bummer.

      Missed dream signs:

      - Did not remember how I got to the underwater wall/scuba diving site.
      - Stingray was not anatomically correct.
      - Can't whip things underwater.
      - Cars can't move when the break is set.
    6. astronauts and scuba diving in caves - amazingly vivid

by , 08-17-2010 at 01:13 PM (scumpy's journey to lucidity...)
The earliest I can remember is trying to fit in and out of a "space station" thats on earth in astronaut gear and talking about how I'm gonna have a real problem with claustrophobia. Later I'm cave scuba diving with A, D and C. We have cool masks that enable us to talk and we're squeezing through these tight crevices with our oxygen tanks scraping and eventually we swim into a cavern where we can surface but it only has the one underwater entrance. The dream is amazingly vivid and despite my fear I'm really enjoying it. We swim back, the caves are lit with underwater lighting and the contrast and colors are awesome. We surface on a wooden jetty that is built for scuba divers. As we're leaving Ross and Nick are going in the opposite direction coming from a scuba class in a pool. They seem impressed that I was in the caves. Later I'm back in the caves with them (could have been a later dream cycle)

I wake up at 7am take the kids to school and go to have a nap at 8am since I'm really sick and off work today. I try to wild and get really close but I wake up every time my body does weird stuff (noises etc.) Eventually I fall asleep and dream about playing soccer at the italian club, apparently Sias from 5fm is gonna show up. One of the guys headers a ball and it looks unnatural so I realize I'm dreaming, I do a nose pinch and my consciousness shifts to my real body (I'm not counting this as it was too short)
