    1. Moving During the Zombie Apocalypse, Brief Lucidity, and a Couple of Frags

      by , 05-18-2016 at 01:18 PM (Krista's Dream Journal)
      Dream - Lucid

It was the zombie apocalypse. I don't remember who it was that I was with, but it was a group. We were living comfortably in a house, feeling quite safe. I remember seeing my bedroom, one I shared with a young girl. It was clean and the queen-sized bed looked comfortable and inviting. Next to the bed I saw a nightstand with a lamp on it.

However, we were moving. I was then looking at an area from above. Things started to look like Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 (mobile version), in that I could place different buildings in an area that had roads laid out. This is where we were moving to. I "placed" buildings from my above POV, as if I was simply playing a video game.

I was then back in my regular view. I was with the group inside a building that we were scouting for zombies. I was sitting on the floor with a couple others, while the rest stood. I saw two, one I distinctly remember being a female with short brown hair pulled into a ponytail and a messed up mouth coming behind some of my friends. I warned the group. They moved aside. I'm not sure what happened to the other zombie, but the female one was going for me. She came at me and was on me. I was keeping her from biting me, but only barely; I really thought I was about to get bit. Then, one of the people that was there with me, a guy, slit his own throat and used his blood to save me from the zombie; something about the blood killed the zombie. I looked at the guy who saved me, and aside from a slightly bloody, drippy slit in his neck, he was totally fine.

At some point, I thought about the fact that we were moving, and I wished we weren't because we were comfortable and happy where we were before.

I then was talking to one of the girls that was with me. We were talking about whether or not we thought the zombies were increasing in number or decreasing. She said
      "Oh they are definitely dying."
I then remembered that I was "back" at the beginning of the apocalypse, though everyone else was just at the beginning and was never at the end with me. I thought about the female zombie who almost bit me and noticed how "freshly dead" she still had looked. I had been at the end of the zombie apocalypse previously, and started to explain to the girl how I knew that things weren't going to get better yet.

      ~

I woke up for over an hour and struggled to go back to sleep. When I finally did, I had an interesting little lucid moment.

I felt myself falling asleep, the head buzz feeling came over me, and I saw a moving picture in front of me, like a movie screen. It reminded me of a country western almost; there was a desert and the sky was pink and orange as if the sun was rising or setting. There was no sound. It took up most of my vision, but I wanted to go into it and get a LD started. I entered the moving picture, and wasn't sure if that would make me wake up or if it worked. I started to see that I was submerging myself in this world, but after that, I lost it. Not even sure if I woke up or continued to dream or not.

My daughter had pooped in her diaper and it was leaking onto her clothes.

My husband got onto me about not packing up my books like I said I would. (I fully expect this to happen IWL, as I did not pack my books last night like he asked).

    2. Fragments: Runescape Coaster Tycoon, James Bond, Doctor Who, Travel in China, and Taking Out Trash

      by , 06-11-2014 at 09:13 PM
01-26-2014 -- Cool sort of crossover between Runescape and Roller Coaster Tycoon three. I am playing a live action version of Runescape, and I seem to be doing a new quest or diversion that seems to involve another gnome who looks very similar to the sculptor who does the God Statues, but this one is a slightly beatnik looking painter. He is in a building that seems to be built upon the roof of his mobile home camper, and it is sort of odd because I have to fly up to the top of the camper to manage to get in the building, since it doesn't reach to the ground. (Sort of floating building.)

So I enter into the building, and am looking forward to doing some painting with this gnome for some nice, valuable crafting experience. The thing is, the gnome is very unfriendly, doesn't feel like he needs any help, and is pretty much screaming for me to leave him alone. He more or less tries to chase me from the building and tries to run me off, but I get angry, and as he chases me down the hall I grab a bucket of paint and just kind of toss it at a door and he suddenly stops and is amazed at what I have done, and becomes much more friendly.

At that point things start to change, and I find I have to paint a large, slate gray roller coaster that I kind of ride in slow motion as I choose what colors to paint various sections of the track. First I throw a large bucket of a light purple paint, which coats the whole thing, sort of a background color that will show through anywhere I don't paint another color. Then I ride along the twisting and turning track, slowly painting alternate sections of the track red and blue.

There were also other weird bits about having some minor problems breathing, and filling up some strange small glands with a glowing white light that somehow seemed very reminiscent of the 'meteorites' from the Doctor Who episode Spearhead from Space that contained the Nestene Consciousness, and I eventually found myself eating some Oreo birthday cake cream cookies. Yum!

01-27-2014 -- [First dream of the night while 5-HTP is blocking off REM sleep, very choppy and very little detail, but probably the neatest dream of the night if I could remember it. Sigh.] 007 dream, but I am working with the spy, I am not the spy, myself. Hints of time travel, and some neat chase dream stuff, but most of it I just can't remember. Somehow we are trying to save somebody, possibly Bond's wife, or possibly a Doctor Who companion, but if we manage to save her, it is likely it will mean the death of Prince Charles' Camilla, which means we may have government problems if we do this.

      ---

01-28-2014 -- I find myself doing some foreign travel with an odd composite group that is part Rosemary's family and part Joe and Cindy's family. We are in either China or Japan (not enough to see to tell what is going on), though all the signs are in English, and as we wander around finding food to eat, and interesting things to look at, I am discussing the entire trip with Lexie and Jimmy. Cheryl is not too friendly, but we're traveling the world, so she can't be too upset, either. We're just about to start heading west a bit, and I am planning further site seeing and explorations, especially in Germany and England, and things are sounding nice.

But as I continue to walk west, I find myself approaching Cinderella Castle, wandering along the parade route, and come to realize I wasn't in China, but probably It's a Small World. Everybody else has disappeared, and I find I am wandering around the Magic Kingdom. (Not sure Disneyland or Disney World, though the castle did look more like Cinderella than Sleeping Beauty.) I wander over to Main Street, hoping to listen to one of the Refreshment Corner pianists, but it turns out the entirety of Main Street is being refurbished, and is closed down, so I start to wander over toward Frontierland or Adventureland, instead, just kind of poking around, and wondering if I will run into any performers I know from the Club doing Streetmosphere.

      ---

02-27-2014 -- [Short one with not much detail.] Find myself at the Hickory house, and though there was probably more going on, all I can really remember was that I was taking out some trash, carrying it back to the alley. I knew that there was recyclables to take out, and was planning to remind my roommate to get some, but then I realized one of the bags I had just taken out sounded like it was filled with aluminum cans, and was quite light, so I may have already taken it out for him, even though it wasn't in the proper recycling container.

I knew I had a couple of pizza boxes that I wanted to take out of my bedroom, so I went in to get that, but as I shifted through stuff, I kept finding more and more pizza boxes, including two that were actually still full. I sat those aside to eat. Meanwhile, I kept building up a larger and larger stack of pizza boxes, soon maybe 12 to 15, and I was surprised and horrified because I honestly only thought I had three. Then there was a knock on the door, and it was my landlord Rosemary, who just glared at me when she saw the pizza boxes and I tried to apologize. I explained to her that I really thought I had been keeping up with taking them out better.

[Funny thing is, I really did have to take out the garbage as soon as I woke from this one, and I do have a roommate that I have to remind to take out his recycling. I also did have to take a couple of pizza boxes out, but I swear it was only two, not the 23 or so that Rosemary once caught me taking out, when I had kind of gotten lazy about removing them.]
    3. New Dungeon Turns into Star Trek Ride or Walkthru, Followed by Walking Thru Disneyland

      by , 07-25-2013 at 02:02 AM
07-24-2013 -- There are hints of the new graphics from Runescape 3, or an improvement of the graphics in Roller Coaster Tycoon to allow a stronger black and prevent light leaking into dark rides, but not enough details to say there was more than a hint of them. What I do know is that this started as mostly some kind of game, with just a hint of real life, and quickly shifted to being entirely real life.

I am exploring a building somewhere, and find a secret passage or something, leading down into a deeper level of dungeon or catacomb, or whatever it might be, and am commenting on the great textures and looks of the very dark, rocky walls. The paths leading deeper down look much like mine tunnels, without the bracings, though there is also a hint of a dark, rough metal, in the walls of a spaceship. It is a maze of passages, great stuff, and there are some others here who have found the same secret entrance that I have (or perhaps others) and are wandering around, and there is a hint of the forbidden ... that this is an area we aren't allowed in, but have found our way into, anyway.

I keep wandering around, occasionally finding small, almost hidden branching passages that take me even deeper into this maze of passageways, while others comment on how I might get myself in trouble, but it seems like they are jealous that they can't find the hidden passages as easily. Oddly, for what seem to be dark, deep cave-like passages, there are things like restrooms and dressing rooms carved out in the depths, and I am half considering sharing a restroom with an attractive lady I see entering one. Instead, I put it out of my mind. Soon the cave passages are more and more coming to resemble passageways on a very dark (in coloring) space ship, and I eventually find myself in a sort of locker room / wardrobe where there are hundreds of Starfleet uniforms in various colors and styles, representing the different levels of star ship officers, and all kinds of other jobs not directly relating to Starfleet, but still seen in the various Trek shows.

I look around, and want a uniform, but I know there is almost no chance they have anything in my size. (I'm a huge guy.) So I walk off, disappointed, though moments later, a red uniform shirt like Picard or Riker wore just appears on me. As I continue to wander around, I run into more and more people, some in regular clothes, others who have also found the locker room, and have assumed uniforms. I feel slightly out of place, wondering if I have the right to claim a captain's uniform, but generally just act like I belong. Some of the people I run into are just wandering around, enjoying themselves, while others are role-playing. Some want to fight with people, dressed as the occasional hairy Trek monster, or more powerful intelligent races. One attacks me, and expects to defeat me and take my uniform, but I am wearing gloves covered in hair, like from the abominable snowman or bigfoot or something, and it gives me the power to defeat him, even though he is wearing gloves that can conduct an electrical current into his enemies.

Soon I run into Adrian Monk (it is Monk, not Tony), who is wearing one of the yellow captain's uniforms from the original Trek, and complaining about little nit-picking details about every other person he runs into. This one has the wrong number of pips on his uniform. That one is wearing the wrong pants. A Vulcan wouldn't speak like that. A Klingon wouldn't be caught dead in that color. The type of tiny things that would drive Monk crazy, or that a fan obsessed to a ridiculous extent would write letters to complain about. He starts to complain about something about my uniform, so I strip the shirt off, just to find that underneath it I have on the original Trek yellow, and Monk just has more to complain about. So I just start to walk away from him. But oddly, I could swear I know him from somewhere. Somewhere Disney, not from Monk.

About this time, I am slowly starting to make my way back out of the wealth of catacombs, and I run into a young woman with short blonde hair in a yellow shirt, almost a dead ringer for Tasha Yar. At first she thinks I am somebody she knows, and she starts to flirt with me. Then she realizes I am not who she thought, but still continues to flirt so I pick her up in my arms and start carrying her bridal-style, to the annoyance of her companion, who, for the moment, is also dressed in yellow, but who I recognize as Joy from the Adventurers Club, and she doesn't seem to like me, which surprises me, because I always seemed to get along with Joy. Now she is wearing the French Maid outfit, and the girl I am holding in my arms is another French Maid, though one of the ones near the end that I didn't know. Still cute, though. I comment on the outfit, commenting I don't recall anything like that ever being a Starfleet regulation uniform, and Joy makes a derogatory comment, something along the lines that she hates role players. (Seems sort of hypocritical to me.) I make another Trek reference, and she pulls her companion from my arms and drags her off in a huff.

As I finally make it out of the complex, I find myself exiting into Tomorrowland. It seems this is a new ride / walk-through that isn't actually supposed to be open yet, but I seem to have wandered into a soft opening or something. I head out, planning to do some wandering through the park, but I haven't been to Disneyland in several years (except for backstage at the Golden Horseshoe in a dream a couple of days ago), and I am really shocked when I reach Main Street. They seem to be doing one of the months-long themes like they have done in the past (ie Circus Fantasy, State Fair) but this one is a sort of cross between mafia, prohibition, and the roaring twenties, but very dark and oppressive. There are still lights on Main Street, but there is something oppressive and evil about them, it looks more like the red light district in Amsterdam than the wholesome looks of Main Street USA.

There is still streetmosphere, but instead of characters and barbershop quartets, it is more like gangsters, gang members, and the worse kind of flappers hanging on their arms, guns plainly visible. It is just the wrong atmosphere entirely. I try to wander over by Coke Corner to see who is playing the piano, and it is a dark haired female playing some dark jazz. Not sure, but it might have been Carol Stein. I find Main Street to be tremendously depressing now, so I try to continue on to Adventureland, and at the entrance, I run into three people from the Adventurer's Club, doing some kind of skit out in the streets, and I realize they must have a banquet in the Club or something. I think the three are Tim, Karl, and Philip, dressed in the old costumes for Fletcher, probably Otis, and Emil, and I suddenly recognize that 'Monk' earlier had been Philip dressed up and role-playing as Tony Shalhoub's character in Galaxy Quest. They are doing something that seems to involve putting together several 10 foot long sections of pipe and using them as a straw or something.

As I try to move into Adventureland, I find the entrance is blocked off for refurbishing, so I have to detour through Frontierland. As I am doing so, I run into one of the Hathaways I don't know, and am amazed to find we are wearing the same bright green pants. Odd ... I could have sworn I was wearing black pants when I was in the Star Trek uniforms. I continue into Frontierland, just to find that almost the entirety of Frontierland, Adventureland and New Orleans Square are closed down for refurbishing, including the entire building that houses the Golden Horseshoe Revue, which leaves me wondering about my new job there. [See dream from last night.] The Rivers of America are quiet, with both the Mark Twain and the Columbia sitting there, unused, in a sort of dry dock, and as I continue on, the first thing I find is actually open is the Haunted Mansion, just beyond the French Quarter of New Orleans Square. I try to cut through the French Market restaurant, to see if I can get back to the Club (which I guess has been moved here and located right between the Treehouse and Pirates), but it is blocked off there, too.

I am getting annoyed and tired, and end up taking a rest on a hand railing (very gently, don't want to cause it any harm), but one of the cast members starts to glare at me. Somehow this ends up in his pointing out a security camera to me, and me pointing out another one to him, and our getting into a competition to see who can find more of the somewhat hidden cameras quicker. He is soon amazed at how many of them I can point out to him, and I explain I can half-sense them, and half spot a bit of reflection off of the lenses. I mention that I couldn't spot any of them in the new Trek walkthrough, though, and theorize that might be because of how dark it was. (Never mind the cameras are easier to see in the dark, with those purple lights they have.) Somebody who was just walking past us says "Is that open now? I thought it was still a ways away." I mention the soft opening, and that the first day or two you can get a free Starfleet uniform, and he goes running off toward tomorrowland, while I wake up.
    4. The Killer Whale and the Water Park

      by , 05-12-2013 at 06:31 PM
05/12/2013 -- Asleep and then awake again into kind of the same dream I was already dreaming, except none of the storyline is at all the same. I may still be Harry Potter, though. I am not sure. Anyway, I am standing up at the front of a stadium, kind of watching a killer whale show in a Roller Coaster Tycoon (RCT) game. It is a really strange killer whale show because most of the killer whales are only a couple of feet long, and look kind of like a tadpole would if it were as big around as a person and a couple of feet long. I'm standing there, watching things, and one of the park employees is telling me to sit down, or I'll get hurt. Instead I back up a little, and stand half behind some sort of support pole, so I am out of the way.

I find myself standing next to a little old man who looks kind like pixilated, and like a cross between the old man from 'Up' and a RCT character. I pick up a bottle off the ground, and it looks like an even taller, stretched out bottle of the type sodas used to come in (the large glass ones that could be recycled for .20) that is close to empty and holds Jack Daniels. I drink the last of it, and am kind of hoping the old man doesn't get mad at me for drinking his booze.

Anyway, the show has ended, and people are starting to leave, and I find myself spending some of my time thinking about taking the time to write down this dream and the last one about fighting Voldemort and showering with Hermione. I can remember that dream, and want to write it down. I also kind of get that this is a dream, also, and want to write it down, too, but I don't "really" get that it is a dream, so I can't do anything with it.

I glance off, and just a few feet away, I see the start of a 'lazy river' sort of attraction leading into a full-blown water park, and I am debating trying to write down the dream, or going off to play in the water park. Soon the water park wins. I have a sort of a foam mat for the water slides (like used to be used in the earliest days of water parks before they started making the slides of plexiglass), except it is halfway an air-inflated floating mattress-type pool thing. I take it into the edge of the 'lazy river' and start floating along, and I can almost see the squares of the RCT grid this is laid out on.

I can see that the kinds of pieces have been changed about every three squares, as I go from gentle stream to rapids to bubbly effervescence (I can't believe I spelled that right) to a bit of dying stream (like in a desert) where I am afraid I am going to puncture my floaty thing on the rocky edges that are showing through, as I hope to reach more gentle stream parts soon, or maybe a waterfall, and the rest of the water park. Pleasant dream bit.
