    1. 30-Day Challenge: Plans for day 1

by , 06-24-2013 at 03:48 PM (Katsuno's Awesome Ninja Tales!)
Here's the current situation: I've been out all day and I'm physcially and mentally tired. Luckily I'll go to bed early so I'll get about 10 hours of sleep.

My plan for tonight is to figure out a way to get lucid in a dream (DILD). I've re-read the ADA tutorial and I noticed that I did it improperly for a long time. I'm changing this right now as I'm trying to be aware of everything that happens while I'm writing this entry. I can even notice how my fingers hit the keyboard.

When I go to bed I'll meditate for about 20 minutes, trying to completely clear my mind. And when my mind is clear I'll go to bed.

There's nothing to win and nothing to loose, I won't be mad if I don't get lucid as I'll try to get rid of my ego. If I don't get lucid it simply means I have to change something, there's no mistake.

In case I don't get lucid, I'll write down exactly what I dreamed of, how I felt when I wake up and basically anything that I can notice. That way I'll be able to figure out what I need to change.

One thing is important though, and I just figured this out while writing a PM to Windy: I will do the opposite of what I'd normally do now. Instead of thinking about getting aware in my dreams before going to bed (after meditation), this time I'll just try to be myself in my dreams. My real self is doing ADA all the time so by not trying to change myself I should have a pretty decent chance of getting lucid
Also this takes care of the self-fulfilling prophecy of telling myself to wake up in the morning to write down my dreams even though I should be able to wake myself up after my LD's (which basically makes me expect to not get lucid in the end).

Let's see if just completely being myself and stopping my ego will be the solution.

I tried to have lucid dreams last night for the first time officially using RCs throughout the day and repeating my mantra "I will realise that I am dreaming, I will trust my reality checks" (changed it after what happened last night).

Dream 1: woke up within dream, had recorded a video on my phone that I didn't remember recording of myself explaining that I had seen something weird in my room.. the video then turned to my face and recorded something running by behind me, a tall white naked figure

Dream 2: I had saved earth somehow, was in outer space, had to say goodbye to somebody I was in love with in the dream - who was female - and head back to earth

Dream 3: lived in my ex boyfriend's mom's old house - she has passed away in WL - we realised we had never thrown our neighbours a welcome party therefore did and they were insulted with how non-chtristian we were,of random animals running around the house *** just remembered that this dream was connected to the first one - the room from dream 1 was in this house

Dream 4: I did reality checks but was in bed in my dream and decided I wasn't dreaming even though I was able to breathe with my nose plugged and push my thumb through my hand, I now realise also that I was alone in bed which I am not - I live with my boyfriend, I decided to try anyways but couldn't remember any of the monthly tasks haha... I may have tried to sit on an egg... but broke it? Hard to recall.
      That is all!
    3. 24th June 2013 Platformer video game, Air balloon escape

by , 06-24-2013 at 01:17 PM (Scionox's Journal of Dreams)
      Dream recall from today's naps.

      Dream 1(fragments):

I was playing some 2D platformer/shooter game and there were fights with some huge bizarre creatures, then later i was using some editor to search particular sprite in the spritesheet, finding that there are even bigger creatures than the ones i fought.

      Dream 2(fragments):

I was flying with some characters on some kind of air balloon construction, we were discussing something and there was also small dragon with us. We done our mission in the country and we were escaping it. Then the balloon got hit by something and we were forced to land. We use fuel to make construction flammable. Then there's cutscene where some scientist is searching for team and laughing. Then back to balloon construction, that small dragon transforms into human form for some reason and then firebreathes at the construction, setting it on fire. Then we leave.

Not much at the moment but I'm concentrating on WILD & WBTB + WILD at this time...and I'm inching forwards. During every attempt I'm noticing subtle differences...i seem to be getting better at the delicate art of ignoring thinking, rather than trying to stop thinking...and that's when the "rushes" come.

I've been getting good advice from KingYoshi and I've looked through gab's WILD technique. I didn't realise that we have natural REM periods during the day as well as the night...Doh! I've just been rolling into bed at any time of the day...I really need to pin down my REM periods accurately

For the first time last night I think I made the error of falling fully asleep during a WILD attempt. Unusually, the "rushes" were refusing to appear. I did a reality check with my eyes shut, then opened them and so much time had passed that I must have been asleep

All I got last night was one dream with a blatant dream sign* which involved me having a bed in a room where an *office meeting was being held and apparently collapsing onto the bed...and waking later to find some comedian had put ladies fluffy slippers on my feet...are you sure brain? I have this mental image of my addled old brain, struggling to cobble together a dream scenario with wisps of steam coming out the top of it.

I perhaps should try gab's idea of constructing my own dream scenario in-situ to help my own brain along "Here...take this you poor wrinkled old thing...now, hold it steady because here I come." I think I get visualisations...one was a solitary painted flower...nice, but nothing to really hang onto

This is a fascinating journey...Why should I really want to rush the preliminaries?

    5. DC destroys dream, when I tell her she is not real

      by , 06-24-2013 at 12:16 PM (Nelzi's DJ)

      2 Fragments. 1st before WBTB, 2nd afterwards:

      • I am at home with my roommate. An old friend is with us. My roommate is playing video games, while the friend is trying to fool him and making jokes at his expense, I am a passive observer. I have to laugh at some of the jokes, but for some I think they are not funny and this goes too far. I think to myself 'give him some peace'. The friend pretends to leave the apartment, but opens and then shuts the door without leaving, another 'funny' joke. There are 3 doors in the floor, 2 of them make a loud noise when used.

The apartment is the same as my home, apart from the 3rd door. In the dream I notice it but I take it for granted and not as a weird circumstance. Pretty random fragment, nothing too weird or significant.

      • I am in the front passenger seat of a car. The seat is big and soft and comfortable, so is the car. A girl I once dated is driving. We are in Copenhagen, Noerrebro, I see a long and big street ahead of us with two big crossroads and traffic lights. I tell her 'to the right is the place where [name of a friend] lives', she nods disinterested, feel like she does not really notice me talking. The seat belt sits very tight and makes it hard to breathe, I loosen it a bit, but it doesn't help. I try to tell her that I would love to 'do' her again once, if she is interested. I tell her 'no one would know, this is a dream anyways, let's just have sex, in the end it doesn't matter'. Still she seems like (or pretends to(?)) not really noticing me. I get upset and louder and say: 'Hey you know, it's a dream, all of this is not really real, not even you'. Suddenly she looks at me, says nothing but everything is shaking and crumbling, I feel that it is due to her anger. I think to myself 'I shouldn't have said that, of course no one likes to hear they don't exist...' I slowly start to believe my own words, that it is all a dream, so i gain lucidity. But by the moment that I am convinced of dreaming, it is too late; everything has fallen apart already due to knowing it is not real, then I wake up.

Weird, this girl used to troll around in my subconscious for quite a while, but it is rather long time ago. Also how the hell did I not get lucid in a situation, where I try to convince someone that it's a dream. This was pure non-lucid, as there was no active lucid dream time, although I convinced myself to be dreaming, which kinda caused it to end.
    6. Rome

      by , 06-24-2013 at 12:07 PM
I am outside of Colosseum in Rome when i realized i was dreaming. I jumped up to some old stone blocks to get up on the walls of Colosseum. Now i am at the top of Colosseum, and i let myself fall backwards back to the ground, in order to be able to completely trust the dream. I didn't feel the impact to the ground at all. I start walking along a cozy street, where i found i fountain and i drank some water. Weirdly it helped against my thirst. I continue walking along the street, until i found a tiny store. The store had a ice cream fridge, and three sodas on a shelf. I ask a lady in the chair behind the counter how much it will cost, she said three euros. I felt in my pocket and found 10 euros. I give the soda to the man in the counter, but he got a phone call and brought the soda with him. I didn't care so much, i just walked out of the store cause i have a lot to do.
My dreams keep changing all the time. What is my dream sign?-colosseum_wallpaper_yhsng.jpg
I walk a bit until i realize, i am in my own town. I am just over the buss-station when i hear the horns from the TARDIS from doctor who. The sound is coming from the park close to the buss-station and i ran to it. When i arrive at the park, the TARDIS is already gone. I can now see the TARDIS at the buss-station which i had just left, but now there are a bunch of daleks there as well. I jump up in the air and got shot in the foot by a dalek, it hurted like hell. I fly further and further up and the daleks keeps on trying to shoot me. I use my powers to bring them down to the ground. I start accelerating and i am now going too fast, that made me woke up.My dreams keep changing all the time. What is my dream sign?-dalek-004.jpg

    7. Building a car from parts

      by , 06-24-2013 at 11:59 AM
In this dream I had all the parts to build a car from scratch only it was not really a car, it stood for something else, and I think I knew that on some level even in the dream. I rember that I was not in a hurry to put it together, and in the end it was mostly parts still, but I had a better understanding of these parts. I wish I remembered more, I know there was more to it. Oh, I also recall that some people approach the problem backward, but that is also a valid approach.

    8. Pirate's

by , 06-24-2013 at 09:56 AM (Welcome to my dreams!)

      1. [non-lucid]

I'm on a ship doing gymnastic swinging off the ships ropes and sails while in a sword/fist fight, (probably with a pirate)(I remember thinking: don't fall off the ship as I went quite high) this went on for about 5 minutes.

The pirate knocked me to the floor, I struggled to get up as he attempted the finishing blow, then all of a sudden I was saved (by a bullet?) at the last second by the actual crew of the ship who where held hostage I assume by my attacker.

Captain Jack Sparrow took the ship the wrong way or something, then left the ship

Were on land in some sort of town square (There's a yellow haze on everything as the sun shines down, like a sort of sepia tone), the ground laid with bumpy light-grey cobblestone, there's a cobblestone and wood building to the right, there's a cobblestone road going straight with a dock along it and buildings, there's a building in front of to the left, I think there's a well in the center of the town with a stall across from it. we are searching for Captain Jack Sparrow after he ran away.

      Times:
      Sleep: 11:10 Attempted DILD
      Alarm: 3:00 I hadn't slept before 3 anyway
      Wake: 8:00 - 9:00
      Got up: 9://

    9. Stargate

      by , 06-24-2013 at 09:37 AM
I can remember little extracts from my dream:

Firstly that someone came to our house to buy DVDs from us, sort of like the CEX store in town. One DVD we sold was Stargate season 1 and 2, joined together, making something like £30.

Stargate then traveled over to my next dream, where I felt intrigued by it one day. Looking through the boxes to see how many seasons there were. I somehow saw Quatre and Trowa from Gundam Wing in the series ~ Strange..!

Very brief lucidity. Don't know how I got lucid - no reality checks - I just knew. Flew through the window, up in the trees and wanted Yolandi. Saw her, sort of. Then another version of her that was really similar. Then that was it.

    12. The obsticle course assingment

by , 06-24-2013 at 04:59 AM (Lucid Time!)
I hate how you still have school related dreams when classes are over for the summer.

Now I can't remember many of the details but, because my dream recall has been really poor as of late, because I've been too lazy to do dream journal entries for many of the non-lucid dreams that I've had recently. (That's the reason I'm here.)
Anyways, I was in a classroom with my english teacher from just this past spring. We were taking some kind of test in an extended class period.
I can't remember the exact nature of the assignment, but it had something to do with drawing a large map of an obstacle course with several obstacles. Then you would draw several different colored dotted lines showing the paths of different characters that went through the course. Each character had to fail the course at a different obstacle. Once you had finished the map, you had to write the story from each character's point of view, covering their unique tone and motivations for wanting to complete the course. (Amazing that I remember something that complex from a dream.)
For some odd reason, I was really inspired to work on the assignment. While other students were patiently and quietly working at their desks, I was working with a huge sheet of paper taped to the wall. I had scraps and notes that covered the entire classroom wall with my huge map in the center.
I specifically remember carefully drawing one of the obstacles on my obstacle course map. It was a giant, muscular looking robot that the characters would have to fight.
Our teacher said that she already knew one student that had failed the test. I got really anxious for a few seconds, then she mentioned who it was specifically. It was some girl, and not me. I was very relived.
The last portion of the dream had me looking at the official test, and realize that there were other things that needed to be completed, other than the obstacle course map and the stories for the characters. I was a little worried that I would not have time to complete the other portions of the test, but most of the other questions were very easy science/chemistry related questions.

    14. Lucid dreaming is where.

      by , 06-24-2013 at 02:00 AM
Lucid dreaming is where, you 'wake up' during a dream sequence, and become aware that you are dreaming. It is similar to astral traveling or OBE's in the respect that you are awake and in a different environment than normal.

There are what are known as triggers or cues in lucid dreams, that make you aware that you have woken up. Some of us can lucid dream with relative ease and no training involved, but they are the lucky ones. Many of us either are not aware that we are lucid dreaming, of we fail to recognize the signs which tell us that we are. We interpret the signs as normal dream events.

Some of these signs for example are that we are flying, or we notice multi colored animals in our dreams. Once we understand these triggers of clues, we can then 'teach' ourselves to lucid dream and to change the sequences of our dreams. There are no limits to what you can do, and it is perfectly safe to change the sequences. It is also beneficial if you are for example having a nightmare. You can change it into a peaceful dream, the possibilities are endless.

There are techniques you can use, to train yourself to lucid dream. Results wont come overnight, but with the correct attitude and training of your mind it will happen for you. Some of the techniques are as follows:

      Keeping a dream Journal

Keeping a dream journal is beneficial because you train your mind to remember your dreams in greater detail. You will then recognize your own personal triggers and cues, then when you see them in a dream you will know that you are lucid dreaming. Write everything in the journal, if you awaken during the night, write the dream down then. The reason for this is that if you leave it until the next morning, most, if not all of that dream will be lost, you will forget. Write your dreams in the journal for several weeks before moving onto the next stage. It takes time to train your brain to alert you to the changes whilst you are sleeping.
