    1. grocery store kids; bon appetit, Marilyn Monroe; lost and lucid

      by , 03-11-2011 at 12:46 PM
      Good morning, everybody.

      Dream #1

I was in a huge grocery store. At some point I was in the produce section. A boy and girl and possibly one more child, all siblings, stood at some stand displaying apples or some other kind of fruit. One of the children may have been writing on a piece of paper that was resting on the apples.

      Dream #2

I was in a dim room that was full of people. The place was like a club mixed with a museum. I sat on a really low chair or sofa made of red leather.

A bunch of little kids would come up and sit with me. They didn't know me. They just thought I was interesting. I was kind of flattered. A few of the kids were Asian. Their dad was nearby, looking at paintings and talking to people. One of the Asian kids looked like an old person. He had longish hair, but he was balding on top.

I and one little boy were now watching what was supposed to be Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on a video screen in the floor. The screen was about the size of a small TV screen.

In one scene, Marilyn Monroe walks into a fountain at night. She was apparently naked, and she apparently said "bon appetit," though I did't hear or see any of this. The boy asked me what bon appetit means.

I tried to explain to the boy that it didn't mean anything bad. The scene now replayed itself. I thought, there's no way Marilyn Monroe was naked in this movie. They wouldn't have allowed it!

Marilyn now walked into the fountain, which was an enormous pool of water at the foot of a staircase before a huge building. She was wearing a thin, body-length dress. The soaked dress became kind of, but not extremely, see-through.

Marilyn now swam up to the camera, which was positioned at the side of the huge fountain, and said "bon appetit."

Now all kinds of weird blue and green digital drawings blotted onto the screen like crude versions of fireworks.

      Dream #3

I was walking home at night. But somehow I had lost my way. I was walking through some kind of suburban neighborhood. I would turn down streets and think I was finally in the right place. But then I'd see I was still in the wrong place.

At one point I got to a streetcorner which looked exactly like a streetcorner near my house. But it was completely empty, and the buildings were all shut down and featureless, maybe even windowless. I wondered what had happened to my neighborhood. But I suddenly realized this wasn't my neighborhood. The buildings I was looking at were part of some huge hospital.

I turned around and walked another way. I was now in the parking lot of some area like a church. I felt like I might not even have been in the right borough. I turned to walk out of the parking lot. I grabbed my phone, which was my old phone, to try to get an idea of where I was.

I wondered how I'd gotten so lost. It didn't seem possible. I thought, Maybe I'm dreaming. I didn't think it was possible, but I tested myself anyway. I jumped up into the air to see if I could fly. I began floating a little bit. So I was dreaming.

I couldn't control my flight. I was floating backwards. I managed to get floating forward, about 3m off the ground. I was coasting through some suburban neighborhood. I still didn't know where I was. I told myself, You can't see where you are because it's dark. If this is your dream, then make it light.

So I made it light outside. But the world suddenly got very blurry.

I was now floating down toward something. I thought I had woken from my dream. I floated past one of my co-workers, C, who was giving some self-important lecture about something.

I was down in the frozen food section of some grocery store. I was looking at some children's picture book or some piece of paper on which I'd scrawled some stuff. I was still thinking to myself what a disappointment it was that I'd woken from my lucid dream.

      Lucid Dream 191: Feeding Frenzy
Series: The Land of Dreams, Episode 4
      DEILD

      Category - Exploration

....I felt my self fade in and back out of reality and knew my DEILD was successful. My body began spinning around and I noticed I was in the basement of my house. After a short period of spinning/rolling in place, I stopped and stood. Everything was a bit fuzzy, so I performed some quick stabilization techniques. Everything cleared up rather nicely.

Through the sliding glass door I could see it was dark outside. I turned away and headed toward the stairs. The wood paneling on the lower half of the walls had names carved into name. There must have been hundreds of them. I read a few, "Ben G, Alastor, Gobbleton, James was here, etc." I didn't waste much time reading them and headed up the stairs. I exited via the front door and it was still dark outside. Pulled over on the side of my street I noticed about 3 school buses, several cop cars, an ambulance, and a firetruck. All the vehicles had their lights on and specialty lights (cop car, ambulance), but there was no sign of life among them. I suddenly remembered some that I wanted to recruit for my dream army. I leapt off my porch and took flight. I floor over the trees and up over top of the nearest mountain. On the other side, I noticed the ground had turned to the sky, so I stopped and landed at the top of the mountain.

I decided to dream spin and see if the problem fixed. I just performed a quick 360 (didn't want to spin too much and scramble everything). It worked. There were woods in front of my. I took flight once more and stayed low to the ground, dodging trees and such. As I flew it gradually turned to daylight. I flew upon a small lake or giant pond. I flew lower over the lake/pond and skimmed my hands on the top off the water as I flew. There was a tiny island in the middle of the lake, barely large enough for two people stand. I flew over to it and landed on a large, flat rock that (located on the island). I noticed the lake/pond had suddenly became very swamp-like.

The water had a thick layer of green something (algae?) floating on the top. The surrounding trees were no longer pine trees and had all become mangrove trees. There was a vine covered tree in the middle of the island I was standing on. I scaled up the vines to a limb that hung out over the water. I felt around in my pocket until I found a blunt and pulled it out. I performed my usual, invisible lighter trick, and lit the blunt. I smoked and started looking around for some wild life. A few moments later I started to notice several gators were swimming in the area. As I observed them, I began to notice more and more in the area. I now noticed that they all seemed to be swimming in my direction. I wanted to throw something into the water and see if they attacked it.

I stood on the branch and began rummaging through the leaves over head. I found an orange and soon after there were oranges everywhere. I started throwing them in the water and the gators were viciously splashing about and attacking the oranges. All of the gators were gathered below me. There must have been 50 of them gathered under my limb and the immediate surrounding area. I started launching oranges as hard as I could aiming for the gators head. When I hit them with the orange, they sunk under water for several moments before resurfacing. I began launching oranges like crazy and it turned into a game like whack-a-mole. The gators were stationary and popped up in and out of the water as I launched oranges at them. This went on for several minutes when I suddenly got an idea.

I sat on the branch and wiggled my feet in the air. The gators broke out of their whack-a-gator state and began chomping the air and jumping up a little trying to bite my leg. Once they were all viciously aggressive. I took a deep breathing and jumped off the branch. My arm got caught in the trees vines and I was just hanging there as the gators chomped below me. I struggled for a bit, but couldn't seem to wriggle free. I could feel my actual bodies arm and figured the dream had become unstable. I performed a couple nose pinch RCs (for stabilization purposes) and could feel the vine loosening up. The vine suddenly let go and I dropped right into the middle of the gators. As I hit the water I felt gators slam into me from all angles, but unfortunately, I woke up immediately (I think the rush of emotion/adrenaline kicked me from the dream).
I was a little disappointed that I didn't keep my cool, but I did just jump into the middle of 50 hungry gators .

    3. First Lucid: Noticing the Hall of the Mountain King

      by , 03-11-2011 at 01:27 AM (Rawracookie's DJ)
I am in some sort of group in a school (highschool?). One guy, two girls, and me. The two girls are complaining about being "slightly too fat." We are, as a group, using little push vacuums (floor sweepers?) on the table we are at. No idea why. It is now time to go to school lunch. We go downstairs into the cafeteria. I am waiting in line. I listen to "In the Hall of the Mountain King" in my head. It is an FM synth chiptune version.

Like this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZNvMJjKSis , but with instrument quality like this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBiIr-bFiKM. I watched the second video the day before, but searched for the first today to see if I could find one.

The song playing on the loudspeaker ends and starts up with the same song I have in my head. I find that to be a strange coincidence. I think of posts I have read on dreamviews that say "Well this can't be happening, I must be dreaming!" I find it silly to me, but I do a reality check, the nose plug, anyways. I can feel my breath flowing through my nose. I try it again. I lose my visuals

I remember the thick steak fries in the little paper thing next to me on the stand. I imagine grabbing them and stuffing them into my mouth. I try to imagine the thick potatoey texture and flavor. I also lick some sort of meat covered in barbecue sauce.

I have my visuals. I run upstairs. I don't remember why. It's not quite as vivid as I would like it to be, nor am I thinking as clearly as I could be. It's dark upstairs. After fiddling with the light switch, it is dim. I decide to try fireballs from my hand. I try forcefully opening my hands and imagining fireballs. It keeps failing. I am eventually pulled out of the dream into waking life.

    4. Wolf and Rain

by , 03-10-2011 at 08:35 PM (Nocturn Core (Abridged))
I was in the car with my dad driving. We were on a one way road and had to stop at an intersection. He pulled around the cars in front of us and parked the car in front of a huge, bright screen mounted to the curb. The front of the car bumped the underside of the screen. I looked up at the screen itself, and my vision warped.

I was in my bedroom on the computer. Like some kind of background train of logic slipped into place, I suddenly realized I was dreaming. I laughed at the strange sequence of events… What did my computer have to do with my dad driving around? I wondered how long I had been dreaming. Not very long, I realized. I immediately felt the dream fading as it always does, but I transformed myself into a wolf to put pressure on my hands and feet. I felt that would help. After a brief jog through a forest, I started flying around the world in one frame of reference. In the bedroom, I was gently floating through the air. I laughed when I saw what I was doing in the room. This was the dumbest stabilization technique I’d ever come up with. I turned back into a human. I had brief sexual thoughts, but I reminded myself not to pursue them this time. I would learn much more from experimenting with the dream state. I drifted down to a sitting position and rubbed my hands together. I brought them into view and saw that I was wearing black leather gloves. That explained why my skin felt so leathery. I pulled the gloves off and tried rubbing my hands again. It worked. The skin on my hands was so finely detailed afterward… I noticed every little stretch in the skin. I reminded myself not to get lost staring into them. I pinched myself in an attempt to inflict minor pain. I wanted to ground myself further in the dream. My hand just felt numb. I tried my arm, too – also numb. Whatever, I thought, at least pain wouldn’t distract me. As soon as I started toward the door, things became fuzzy and blacked out. I patiently waited without mental comment.

“Furley?” I heard my mom calling Austin from downstairs – that was her nickname for him around the house when we were younger.
Her voice caused me to lose a little lucidity for a moment. Time to get up, I thought… Wait! My mom wouldn’t be in my dorm room, I reasoned. Vision rapidly came back, and my lucidity was back to where it had been before.

I “respawned” at my computer desk after a few moments. Chelsea walked into the room and handed me a soft drink from a fast food restaurant. About half of the drink remained.

“Are you done with that?” I asked, taking it from her. I wanted to try Coca Cola in a dream. I haven’t had it in a long, long time in waking life because it’s so acidic. The taste was convincing, and getting a drink was refreshing since my throat was so dry. I checked my hands… No gloves. Good! I noticed I was really warm because I was wearing my hoodie. I took that off and tossed it on the floor. Keeping myself warm wasn’t at all necessary… If anything, staying cold would keep me alert. Chelsea gave me a weird look when I pushed the chair back. She had been talking to me about something, but I wasn’t listening. I felt a little guilty, but it didn’t seem like it was that important. If it had been, I wouldn’t have been able to ignore it.

“Come with me…” I said. I grabbed her hand and led her out of the room. We went down a flight of stairs. I recognized our old house in Texas from the general layout, so I knew where to expect the front door. It was wide open. Clearly, I was on the right path.

“Where are we going?” Chelsea asked. I figured I could tell her she was a dream character, or I could let her see that we were in a dream for herself. I chose the latter option.

“Don’t worry about that. We’ll see.” I wasn’t sure myself. When we reached the door, I saw that it was raining. I smiled. I love rainstorms. “You don’t need shoes,” I told her, urging her out of the house even though she was barefoot. I didn’t notice I was wearing socks until I stepped onto the wet driveway. Just intending for them to go away was difficult, but I knew it would be better if I could feel the cold driveway under my feet. Chelsea was hanging back by the door to avoid going into the rain. “What’s wrong? Come on!”

“We do need shoes,” she objected. Sighing, I grabbed her arm and pulled her outside. “Wait!” she objected again. “We have to close the door!”

“There’s no one else in that house,” I laughed. “Stop worrying. Look at all of this!” Where there should have been houses, the terrain was just flat. It was nostalgic in ways – the same trees were there – but with all the buildings missing, it was so foreign. As we walked into the rain, the dream rapidly faded.

I found myself in my computer chair in my dorm room. I relaxed in the chair, attempting to go back to sleep. I wasn’t aware that this was a false awakening. A program called Dream Apache tracked my dreams from the previous night. It even listed the durations of each dream so I could determine the order in which I had them. I waited almost a full minute (53 seconds) in this relaxed state before my head seemed to swell. Was this what it was like to cross the threshold, I wondered? Tunnel vision went to darkness, eclipsing the blinking message on the screen that said “DREAM ACTIVE.” The program even told me where my dream body had gone, but I didn’t pay attention to that.

I felt hands grip my ankles. Interesting… I was dreaming again for sure. The hands were soft, but the force behind them was strong. I felt a forward tug. I was being pulled somewhere.

      The rest has been omitted.
    5. Another Sucess with Valerian+Melatonin

by , 03-10-2011 at 03:18 PM (The Labrynth of the Mind)
Before bed I took 800mg of valerian and 0.25mg of melatonin.

      Fragments from early REM period

I am walking around the halls of my university. There are a lot of people in the halls with me. I believe that I am on my way to class...

... I am part of Uru again. There is a linking book somewhere, I think...

... I am looking at a computer screen. There is a picture of something entitled "dreamsign". It looks like the logo for one of the filmmaking companies. The kind of Celtic looking thing. As I look at it, it looks more like the Yeesha symbol from Uru...

      Going to my Grandparents'

I am on my way to visit my Grandparents' house. There seems to be a time constraint on this, and my mother and I are trying to figure out the best way for me to get there. In the end, we decide that I will drive part way there, and when I am almost to their house to park the car and take a ferry across a small lake along the way. Somehow I think that this will be cost effective and possibly save time. I will call and schedule the ferry while I am driving.
      Former Workplace

My mother and I are at my former workplace (a toy store) looking for a specific toy. We look in a few places for this thing (some kind of military hovercraft) but can't find quite what we are looking for. Then I remember that it is probably in the action figure section. I take her over to that area, but when we get there we see that all but one of the shelves are missing. I ask one of the current stockers what happened to the other shelves. He doesn't know (he is new). I ask another employee, but he doesn't know either.

      Lucid at the Fair

I am walking down the road in the middle of our county fair. It is late in the season, and there are not many people visiting. Many of the stands are closing up for the year, and I look as I walk for familiar games and people. I am in my uniform (as though I were there to staff the public relations booth as I did when I was a park ranger). I am not there as a park ranger, but I have some other reason to go to the fairs. I think how nice it is that I get to go back to these old familiar places, and walk down the road feeling at ease.

I try to think of why I am at the fair. I can't exactly remember. Then I remember that being at the fair is a dreamsign. I stop walking, and turn to look behind me. Things look OK, but I am beginning to realize that I am dreaming.

I try to justify my being at the fair, but I can't. "So this is a dream," I say.

I look up at a concession stand to my right. As I do, I become aware that the dream is losing realism. I am in danger of losing the dream, and consider either preparing for a DEILD or hoping to WILD when I wake up. Then I decide to try my Dream Posession technique to stabilize it, and attempt to summon Monk. I am vaguely aware of somebody's presence at my side, and try to take posession of their body. This is partly sucessful, and I blink a few times to try to get the vision clear.

I decide to fly, hoping this will further put me in the dream. I float up into the air, and then come down through the top of the concession stand. There is a woman working in there. She is not overly beautiful, but she is pleasing to look at. I decide to kiss her, and do so. Around here I loose the dream.

      Archaeology

I am with one of my colleagues at an archeological excavation. We are back at a rockshelter where we were two years ago, and are at first digging through snow. My colleague, Dr. B., points to a birdbath in the middle of a field and tells me how much he dislikes it. Then he describes a statue that used to sit in it, and how much he hated that. I think the birdbath is kind of attractive, and like the idea of the statue.

We continue digging through the snow. We try not to make too many footprints in it, but Dr. B. seems to be making a lot. Now the snow is moss, and we are removing layers of it. Now we are no longer excavating, but pulling weeds. And now we are digging through dirt looking for trash.

There is a lot of trash in the dirt, and we move down a line sorting through rubbish to throw away. I come across a pile of items, with some electronic equipment and stacks of old records. I am happy with this find, since I get to keep whatever I come across.
    6. Failed Lucid

      by , 03-10-2011 at 03:13 PM (A Pierrot's Muse)
      Thursday 10th March 2011
I struggled to open my eyes; all I could manage was to open my left eye slightly. I slowly raised my hand to verify I was dreaming with a reality check. My hand was see-through. So it was safe to say I was definitely dreaming. I tried to open my other eye, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't. I then woke up.

[It's so frustrating! I can never open my eyes when I go into a lucid.]

    7. Party time

      by , 03-10-2011 at 09:01 AM (JCStanton117 - My Dreams)
      3-5-11

I was living in an old friends house, but instead of him or his family living there it was me and my current roommate. He was asleep upstairs and me and some friends were in the basement just hanging out drinking a bit. I decided why are we drinking so little let's really get wasted like never before. We still had to keep quiet though because my roomate was upstairs and I didn't want to piss him off. After awhile of drinking and chatting I started tripping. Either one of my friends turned into an orange or an orange took human form and I was talking to it. I thought to myself this alcohol doesn't usually make me like this. I sort of knew it was a dream, but just sort of went along with it, what the hell. There was a fridge down there and it was stocked full of food that seemed so delicious. It was my roommates but I ate it anyway feeling kind of bad about it. I figured it's just a dream he'll never know.

The food was great and I really ate a lot. A bunch of people came downstairs and wanted to join us. I said we should take it outside so not to wake the person i live with. So we did. It was daytime when it should have been night. I don't remember much of what occurred outside.

Next thing we are back in the basement. David Spade and a couple other people come down and join the party which I thought was really cool. I'm not a Spade fan or anything, but thought it was so cool to meet him. He was a really normal dude actually.

After I woke up I felt sorry for the friends I was with at the party because they will have no waking recollection of meeting David Spade. lol

    8. Getting shot

      by , 03-10-2011 at 08:53 AM (JCStanton117 - My Dreams)
3-5-11 Chilling at a friends house with a bunch of people who are also coworkers and friends of mine 5 total including myself. We were doing some fun things, but I don't remember until bad stuff started happening. It was nighttime and we were standing in the house with lights out looking out a large window when we saw a car pull up the long driveway. We all knew it was bad news, but went along with it anyways. The guy came up to the door and we let him in. said he needed a place to stay or something like that. He had a bag and said he had something to give us. He pulled out a gun, not sure what he was looking to gain or steal from us but w/e.

Next thing I remember is we're in the back yard and all of them are hostage. I am out probably 50 meters just acting dead for some reason. I hear about a hundred gunshots and that must be what tipped me off it was a dream. Realizing it was a dream and just lying in the grass I figured I may as well do something. So I ran up to the guy and just sort of laid on top of him. I got shot must have been 10 times in the process, but I considered myself a hero anyways. He escaped not in his car, but on his bike, but it was ok now because he was gone and I saved the day.

I had a false awakening in the hospital with gunshot wounds and the thought in my head that I had somehow saved the day. I had the suspicion that it was a dream. So I just got up and instead of doing lucid dream stuff just went on with life. People weren't as impressed as I had hoped they would be I think.

I woke up and at random times through the day wondered if that actually happened.
    9. Trying to remember - Childhood Dreams

      by , 03-10-2011 at 08:33 AM (JCStanton117 - My Dreams)
I still have faint memories of many dreams from ages 5 until my current dreams at age 20. So since I'm starting this dream journal I'm going to try to conjure up some memories. I didn't realize it until several years ago, but I've always sort of been a lucid dreamer, just not well practiced.

I had many nightmares growing up which I became lucid in and instead of realizing I could change what was happening in the dream world I would either just blink and wake up or continue with the dream which never really ended well. I would often wake up unable to move and with mild visual and auditory hallucinations still happening around me which I now realize was some sort of sleep paralysis. Haven't had that since I was 13 or so though.

One of my most unpleasant dreams I had recurring from my earliest years until I was probably 11 I always knew was a dream, but had no control and was just as terrifying as if it were real. Basically the gist of it or all I remember is being uncontrollably drawn down to my (unfinished all cement(walls and floors)) basement even knowing it was sure doom. Turning the corner into the second room I got sucked into the corner into some form of the fetal position and couldn't breathe. In an instant I see some sort of figure by the water heater and in the same moment the force is right there on me in an evil way and I woke up.

Another recurring dream i remember less about was also basically lucid, but again uncontrolled by me. I float around the house I lived quite rapidly trying to get away from something that is following me and I wake up in terror. I used to know all the details of this one, but it's been awhile. I remember it had a dark purplish-red filter and was 1st and 3rd person at the same time.

I remember other dreams too, but so vaguely now that it might not be worth posting yet.

    10. Dreams in my hometown

      by , 03-10-2011 at 08:14 AM (JCStanton117 - My Dreams)
2 years now since I left the town where I grew up and I still have dreams there on a regular basis. There is a definite positive though - It is often an obvious dream sign and a way to get lucid. I've been to that town 5 days in the last 2 years so I've trained my brain to realize if I'm there then it's a 99% chance of a dream.

Still I can't always get lucid there. The brain has clever tricks to make you think there's a reason for your presence. The reason I'm really writing this isn't because of any specific dream, but just a general note to myself that if I am ever in a place I no longer live chances are I am dreaming. It's a good rule of thumb for others to follow as well. whenever you leave town or go to a different location increase reality check frequency.

I completed the basic task although very poorly.

I slip in and out of dreams all morning and become lucid when I realize a really attractice women I don't know is swimming in a pool in my backyard. I begin walking to my fridge to compelte the b-TotM but lose vision. I remain still and the dream reforms.

I again start walking to the house and the fridge and out of the corner of my eye I see a small garden behind the pool sort of. I find an apple growing on a vine and some carrots. I take a bite of the apple and its not juicy or very good. It is real dry. I wake up
    12. 03/09/11 A Deluge of Dreams

by , 03-10-2011 at 12:16 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
Plans: Right now my primary plan is to recall some dreams since it has been quite a while since I have done so. I also have plans to meet up with MoSh in a Hogwarts dream, and there are many more tasks on my list that I won't bother listing here. But my main goal is to remember some dreams.

      Window Stealing
I am at a swap meet with Tigress, and we are just browsing the stalls looking for something interesting. I have it in the back of my mind that I should steal something before we leave the swap meet. It doesn't have to be much, but I have to steal something. So as Tigress and I browse the stalls I am on the lookout for something I can easily steal. I would also like it to be something I want, but I won't be picky.

We leave one of the stalls and it turns out Tigress has already stolen something. She stole a golden bracelet with green gems in it. Pretty. I wonder if the gems are real or if she just stole a cheap piece of costume jewelry. Either way it's pretty. I go back to the jewelry store and look around. I find a golden ring that is on a stand not visible from the checkout. I take it and try it on as if interested, then when I see no one is looking, I slip it into my pocket. I wonder if there are cameras. No matter as long as I leave quickly. Outside, Tigress hands me a drink. She says it's really good, but drink it slow. If I drink it too fast it is poison, but taken slow, the body can take care of it. It is really good, but I make myself sip it. I look at the bottle and see it is 98 proof alcohol! I know I have never had any alcohol that strong before… no wonder I am feeling tipsy. I know Tigress and I have to catch a plane. Well now that neither of us can drive, we'll have to catch a cab.

      Aliens on an Alien World
I am viewing this dream as if I am not actually in it, more like I am watching a television show. I am looking at a living room, the room looks pretty normal, but the family in it are not human. They are clearly an alien race, their skin is a bright color orange, their eyes look different… the eyes look quite strange, rather reptilian.

Other than that it looks like a normal family. A mother and father, an older boy, a younger girl, and a baby. They are all arguing with the older boy, who looks to be in his teens if I can judge by human ages, they are accusing him of being a drug addict. He is drinking a glass of milk. That is the drug. He gets really angry whenever someone tries to take it away from him and hisses to announce his discontent. While they are arguing, more aliens come into the room. These look much like the first ones, but their skin is blue. The visitor tells the other aliens to back off of the boy, he has something better. He hands the boy a bottle, which the boy skeptically takes a drink of. He clearly likes the new drink and tosses away the milk. He seems to no longer crave the milk. The visitor says the new drink will cure the addiction. It works so well because the replacement has a small amount of milk in it to heap wean the boy off.

      The Puppets of the Puppets
I am in what looks like a pretty normal looking city, or at least I don't notice anything strange about it right away. Everyone is wandering around and going about their normal business, though I am not sure what I am doing there. I curse my own memory for not remembering what I am doing, what's happening? Early Alzheimer's? That would suck giant mutant monkey balls! It seems people are pushing each other around and being especially rude about now. Some asshole pushes me out of the way and tells me to get back to work. Work on what? I see a paper on the ground and pick it up. The writing says, "OBEY" in big black letters. I throw it in a trash can. I find more papers that say similar things. "Obey." "Conform." "Assimilate." "Comply." Um… what the hell is going on? It is reminding me of an old 'B' movie about aliens controlling the human population, the movie was called "They Live" and the aliens and the truth could be seen with special sunglasses. The aliens looked like zombies.

Well, in the movie, the truth could be seen with sunglasses, so I snag a pair off of a shelf and put them on. Nothing changes. Well, I guess it wouldn't be just any pair. I find one in the trash and put it on. Now I see the aliens. They don't look like zombies, but like puppet masters. You can see them controlling people with strings. And they are also being controlled by strings by reptilian aliens. I use Liberate on everyone in the area, freeing both the people and the puppet masters at the same time. The reptilian aliens go on a killing spree. I multiply myself using the Divide song by disturbed and fight off the aliens using an acid that proves pretty harmless to humans (it might create a slight skin irritation) but is deadly to the aliens. After being sprayed with the acid they really do look like the aliens in "They Live" except they are also dead.

      A Weight Loss Dream
I am in bed, but I don't have much room. I try to roll over but I just roll out of bed and onto the floor with a thud. I am glad I didn't hurt myself as much as I thought I would. I look back on the bed, and it turns out I was sharing the bed with my mother for some reason. She is sprawled out and taking the entire bed. Since she is quite overweight, this leaves absolutely no room for me. I go to the living room to watch television. My mom comes in and says she's sorry for hogging the bed, so she got me a present. She takes out this really nice shirt and says it's mine.

I can tell right away it's too small for me. I tell her that. She says to try it on first. I try it on and I look at myself in the mirror. It fits perfectly! Not because it's larger than I thought, but I am smaller than I thought! My stomach is almost flat! My weight loss has really paid off! I am so happy. I am in the bathroom looking at myself, so I sit on the toilet to take care of business. For some reason the thing won't stop flushing, and each time it does, cold water sprays my bottom.

Harry Potter and the Demon Parasite
I am at Hogwarts, and we are all preparing to start on the next challenge of the Tri-School tournament. There is only one problem going on… Harry Potter has gone stark raving mad. He is yelling and spitting curses at everyone in the vacinity, and it is clear that he also wants to claw someone's eyes out. His current target is Ron. I have seen Harry get mad at Ron before, but this is ridiculous! Hermione tries to get him to back off, and Harry attacks her, grabbing her hair and violently pulling at it. MoSh makes Harry let go of Hermione, then Harry goes for MoSh's eyes. MoSh uses astral tentacles to hold Harry at a safe distance from everyone. Professor Moody, who I know to be a fake, is there trying to use spells on Harry. I wonder if that is the cause. It is not. Moody is actually trying to calm Harry down, but his attempts are all epic fails. Harry is now trying to claw at Moody and succeeds in grabbing Moody's magical eye, and pulling it out. A couple of people watching that back off a couple paces with a collective, "Eeewww…" MoSh is saying that Harry has a parasite, and Moody is just pissing it off. Moody says that's absurd. I go over to them, and MoSh and I manage to hold Harry and take the parasite off. Harry passes out, and is taken to the hospital wing. I take the parasite and look at it.

What happened that Harry picked up this parasite? I focus on finding that out. I get images right away. Draco, I see Draco with the parasite, placing it on Harry's back as he walked by and made a stupid remark. This annoys me. I leave the scene and go to find Draco, taking the parasite with me. I find Draco and take him to a place where I can talk to him alone, where I pull out the parasite and ask what he know about it. He says nothing. I add that liars really piss me off, so try that one again. He says he knows nothing about it… it looks like a common worm. I say ok, that means it's harmless. I walk past Draco and put it on his neck. He freaks out and pulls it off, throwing it on the ground, and stomping on it. So it's not harmless, I say. I ask where he got it. He says he found it, I can tell he is lying. I tell him to try that one again. He says nothing, he appears afraid of whoever gave it to him. The image I get is of a creature hidden in the darkness of the forbidden forest. I tell him I will find that creature, and take care of that, but I am getting sick and fucking tired of all this cheating!

      Portal to Doom
I am in a long hallway with dim lighting. I hear strange growling and snarling all around me, it seems I am in a video game. I look around the place to see what is going on, am I in a virtual reality setup? Nope. I'm dreaming! I do a RC and confirm that. I am in a game of Doom, but it is in my dream. I remember I had intended to do at least one of the tasks for the LPTC. I decide to go ahead with the Doom task I posted. I try to remember that… I need to find the portal and stop the flow of creatures from the other dimensions. So I start exploring the passages. I am being attacked almost constantly.

I defend myself using my Witchblade sword and energy blasts. I fight my way through the halls, I find a blue key card. But when I finally find a blue door it has been blasted down from the other side. I thought that wasn't supposed to be possible… I go through the door into a large room with a portal in the middle of the room. It looks a lot like a stargate. It is being kept open by an energy field coming from the surrounding equipment. So I blast the equipment, and that makes the portal also collapse. I am now blocked from the only exit. There are monsters there, all trying to get into the portal room. I fire a single energy blast into the group and chaos breaks out. It seems a zombie thought it had been attacked by an imp… so the zombie attacks back. It is so crowded that the zombie hits a large floating eyeball, which attacks the imp (who was the closest creature)… and soon chaos breaks out as the enemies all start fighting each other.

While the fighting is going on I fight my way through the group without anyone even realizing that I'm not one of them. There are a few more monsters in the halls, but no more huge groups. The keys are scattered, there are many doors of each color… It seems totally random as to where I find the keys and the doors. I finally find all the keys and unlock the doors so I can get out of the passages.

      Ghost Hunters
I am in a house of some kind, I am there with Tigress and a couple of guides I don't recognize. We are looking through the place, I am looking to see if I can find evidence of real hauntings. I have a camera and I am taking pictures of everything, making sure to take pictures in sequences so I can compare the sequences later. I can sense that there is something out there, but I can't see anything. I am hoping I will be able to find something on the pictures I am taking. The house seems to be getting creepier as we go up to the higher levels, which seems odd to me, but I notice that the presences I sense seem more malevolent as we go farther up. Something up there is evil… or at least nasty… and it is downright cranky.

We reach the top floor and the feeling of hostility is downright palpable. There is something up there that is definitely not friendly. Tigress wants to get out of the place, and I can't say I blame her. But for some reason, even though I understand the desire to leave, I am not afraid… I am excited. With a presence this powerful I am sure to be able to see something on my pictures. As Tigress is wanting to leave the room I take a rapid series of photos all around the attic, which is where the presence feels strongest. I take photos until Tigress finally pulls me from the room, I hope I got enough to get the proof I want. I figure that with photo manipulation it might not serve as proof to anyone else, but it will be proof to me, which is what I really want. So now I go with Tigress and I am looking for an exit so we can both find our way out of this old haunted place.
    13. Strange Church Activity, Stairs, and a Concert

by , 03-09-2011 at 09:55 PM (The Lab Notebook)
Awake, Non-lucid, Lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

I'm at my new church. The sanctuary is big and sort of round [more so than it is in reality]. I'm sitting on a pew near the front of the room, from which I can see both the altar and the center of the room. In the center of the room is an elevated circle with six thick, round columns spaced evenly around its outer edge. Beyond the outer edge of the circle, centered in the back of the room just in front of the main doors, is a lectern. I recognize it as our regular lectern, even though it and all the columns are festooned with decorative constructs made out of LEGO toys. A sort of mesh made of bright orange axles and connectors from a LEGO set hangs down a little way over the sides of the top of the lectern. The columns are all similarly decorated. The woman standing at the back of the room places a LEGO construct that she refers to as her “crown of thorns” on top of one of the columns. This causes all the columns to start moving vertically, changing their relative heights. I think about how cool all this is, especially the hydraulic-powered columns.

The sanctuary is filled with people. We're there for the Children's Stations of the Cross
[an event that actually is coming up in just a few weeks]. There are lots of kids there, going through the stations in small groups. A group of kids walks by in front of my pew, and I hear one of the girls in it complain that there aren't enough girls in her group. I decide to join the group so that there will be more girls in it. [I was my adult self in this dream, but no one took any particular notice of me.]

I follow the group to the back of the room, out the main doors, and into the narthex. We stop at the location of the plaque designating the first station, which is hanging on the wall between the narthex and the sanctuary, just to the right of the main doors to the sanctuary. Another adult woman is operating this first station. She's ready for us with a toy that someone at the church put together to make Stations of the Cross more interactive and engaging: a pretend PASIV device. Inside the case, I see a piece of equipment from Verizon's network, a white metal rectangular box with the Verizon logo on top. I know that the box contains telephone cables on coils that allow them to be pulled out and then retracted. You can pull out the cables through holes in the side of the box, and that's what the woman does. The plastic jacks on the ends of the cables plug into matching ports on the bracelets that the kids and I are all wearing. The jacks and ports are the same size and shape as the ones used for the LEGO NXT robots and their sensors, I note. [The cables, however, are satiny silver-gray in color, not black like in real life.]

When all of us are plugged in by our bracelets and the device is turned on, the bracelets start pulsating, contracting and expanding in a way meant to simulate the sensation of an increasing heart rate. The experience is intended to help us identify and empathize with someone who is in mortal terror. While doing this, we all lie down on the tile floor and pretend to be asleep, because we know that this is what we're supposed to do when playing with a pretend dream-sharing device. [When I woke up and recalled all this, I thought it was hilarious both that my brain had created this scenario directly inspired by Inception, and that I had never realized that I was dreaming.]

After this, I walk through the parish hall [both the narthex and the parish hall are exactly like the ones at St. Mark's in Upland] and pick up some snacks. There seems to be some kind of meeting going on in one part of the room.

[Next cycle.] I'm walking on a wet, slippery stone-and-concrete courtyard in the middle of some old buildings with lots of dark-brown wood. The ground is wet because it has been raining; it's a gray, overcast day. I recognize this as an unfamiliar place and realize that I'm dreaming. This no longer shocks or startles me. I immediately start touching all the walls and handrails I pass, even crouching down at one point to lick up some of the water in one of the rain puddles. All of these actions evoke the corresponding sensations accurately.

I see a flight of wooden stairs leading up from the ground, attached to the outside of one of the buildings. I think, I wonder if I can turn these into an infinite loop. So I start climbing them, keeping track of how many segments of stairs separated by 90-degree turns I've climbed, counting them aloud. “One... two... three... now, when I get to the end of the next one, I should be back where I started from, right?” I say. When I get to the end of the fourth segment, though, I'm not back where I started from. The stairway just ends in a level, wooden, elevated walkway leading off to the right. “Damn you, astrophysics!” I exclaim aloud, expressing my disappointment that the normal laws of reality have prevailed despite this being a dream.
[Why “astrophysics,” I have no idea.] I quickly shrug it off and continue exploring, walking along the walkway.

The walkway leads to the top of some steep, grassy hills. I crouch down near the top of one of them. I'm a little cold, so I try to summon a blanket to wrap around myself by thinking about one. Then I remember, No, just consciously, deliberately concentrating on it like that doesn't work. You have to know and expect that it will be there. I don't proceed to do this, though.

On top of one of the hills
[the same one? A different one? I'm not sure], there is a concert stage with an amplifier sitting in the grass in front of it, to stage right. There's supposed to be a concert going on, but it's just beginning the process of being canceled. A rock band is on stage, but they aren't playing; they seem to be telling the audience at the bottom of the hill that there's no show to see, and some of the audience is beginning to wander away. They're canceling the show because the amplifier isn't working. I open up the top of the amplifier and find an AAA battery sitting half out of its battery cradle, which is itself only partially wired up to the rest of the amp. I reconnect all the wires and push the battery back into the cradle, and then the amp works. The band un-cancels the show and starts playing, and the audience stays and watches. I walk down the hill to join the audience. I notice that I'm now wearing the same two layers of coats that I often wear in real life. The dream starts to fade. Then I woke up.
    14. Jumbled Dreams

by , 03-09-2011 at 06:52 PM (The Labrynth of the Mind)
Took 0.5 mg of melatonin before bed. Did a visualization MILD, visualizing my University.

      Lucid Fragment

I am walking down the street near my university when I discover that I'm dreaming. I am able to change aspects of the landscape as I have visualized myself doing while awake.

      Beautiful Women (fragment)

I am once again walking to class at the university. As I cut across a parking lot, a bunch of beautiful women show up. They are either African or African American, and look like models. I walk along with them, or they walk along with me, or something. Maybe this is even part of the above dream, but I can't remember.

      Kids in Danger

I am in my own home (which also seems to be another place, maybe my old church). There are a bunch of kids with me. There is some kind of adventure going on, like a Boxcar Children story, or Tom Sawyer. I am a kid in this dream, named Taylor, or Huck, or Oliver or something like that. The other kids are out in our main living room, and there are bad guys outside. There is an adult with us, who leaves to do something that is supposedly important. I don't trust this guy.

Upon leaving us kids alone, the man says "keep watching out this window. Don't go anywhere or do anything, just keep watching. If they come, this is the window they will come through."

I know that there is a window upstairs that the villains may come through. I also have a feeling that the man is in with the bad guys. I decide to go watch out the back window. On the way, I stop in the closet to get a gun to take with me. I look in the closet, and see my 20 gauge and my father's 12 gauge shotgun. We have a couple of .22 handguns in there, but the shotguns are more powerful. I pick up my father's shotgun, and look for some ammunition. There is a box of shells on a kind of wooden ledge above the guns, but they seem to be fishing lures. I root through and find some shells I think will work, and drop them into the shotgun.

I run back to the back door (also the front door of my RL home) with my gun. I look out the window, and apparently see something. I dash out the front door, snapping the shotgun shut. Then I run a little ways, in pursuit of the bad guys.

While I'm running, I notice the shotgun seems awkward to carry. I look down, and see that it has more than the one barrell it usually has. As I look, I first count 2, then 4, and finally 6 or 8 barrells. Not only that, there are two triggers.

"How strange," I say to myself. "I know that this gun only has one barrell. What could be going on?" Immediately the thought comes to my mind
"I must be dreaming. There's no other logical explanation."

I look around. Everything seems so real, it doesn't seem possible that I am dreaming. But there is no other explanation for the gun, and I know that I often think my dreams seem real. I turn around and head back for the house. "I'm dreaming," I say again, trying to grasp the idea. It just seems so real.

On my way back to the house, the plot and the realism overcome my realization that this is a dream, and I loose lucidity again.

      Private Eye

I am a private detective. I have an office in a large city, which is also my current university, which is also my former university. Inside this office, you can walk into a sort of screen which hides your image from the outside. While I am hidden like this, my partner goes out onto the front porch of our office with a beautiful woman. I know the woman is trouble, but it's his decision. I watch from the inside, hidden behind this screen, while the woman shoots my partner. Then she shoots a few witnesses.

"We'd better shoot all the witnesses," her accomplice says.
"I don't see anyboy else around," she says, "nobody is in the building. Come on, let's get out of here."

I pick up my gun, and dash out the front door after them. They travel down the road, and turn left. I follow. They go down an alley, and I pull out my gun to be ready in case I come across them suddenly. Looking down the alley, I can see a house at the end that they are headed towars. It is one of the houses that I lived in when I was little. Apparently, this is their hideout.

I inspect my weapon, and notice that it is not a gun at all, but my set of throwing knives. I guess that's better than nothing, so I pull one out in case I need it. I look again, and I see it is once again a handgun. Then I remember that I never put bullets in the gun. At first I think that I keep the gun loaded, but upon closer inspection I see that the chambers are empty. I grimace with disgust at my oversight. What kind of detective am I?

I turn back towards the office. As I walk, crowds of people fill the street. The street is also a hallway now, I am at one of my colleges and classes are just letting out. I turn towards my office, which is now the maintenance section where I used to work. I need to get back, but some girl I know comes up to me. She wants me to look at her pictures, by which she means she wants me to go to her adult website. I don't really want to do this, but she keeps insisting. She shows me some rather obscene pictures of herself, but I manage to push past her to my office. Around here the dream ends.

by , 03-09-2011 at 05:09 PM (Short Stories with Tragic Endings)
I am sitting at my desk at college. I am extremely tired and don't feel well at all. Probably
because I got up at 5AM the previous morning and didn't go to bed until midnight for the
purpose of WILD. For some reason I decide to do a reality check. To my astonishment, my
finger goes through my palm! I am lucid but I think I am in my dorm, which is not true, I am
actually at home.I get up and instantly feel much better and more awake. I decide to call my
crush, as a dream character, so I get out my phone. I flip it open and the screen is black. I
realize it is because electronics just don't work the same way in dreams so instead of pulling
up my contacts list, I just dial her number manually. The numbers appear in white on the black
screen as I enter them in. At first, I enter my number. I realize it and clear it out and enter her's.
The phone rings and someone answers but it is not her. I decide to try the method where you
call out for the person. Again, someone answers but it is not her. Apparently there is someone
else in the hall that has the same name. It is some random girl that I do not know.
      I then wake
up. I am still in my dorm sitting in my chair I reality check again and find I am still
dreaming! I try again to no avail. I walk out of my dorm and go outside where there
is a playground. Obviously, there wouldn't be a playground on a college campus but
this is a dream so whatever. I start climbing around on stuff and eventually think of
the time its 9:45 "crap I'm missing English". I am probably a little less lucid at this
point. I get up on some monkey bars and I start to notice the dream fading. I try to
stabilize it by rubbing my hands together it works. A guy about my age appears
beside me and says "Why won't you wake up? You need to wake up." I decide to let
      it happen
and I wake up in my dorm again. I look at the clock. 2:30. "Crap, I missed
a lot of classes." I realize it's futile to try to do anything about it but then realize,
it's spring break. I don't have classes. I am still quite tired but I get up. My roommate
comes in and says something about me joining his family for dinner. I start to think
about getting ready for that when
      I truly wake up.
