      Lucid
      Non-Lucid
      Not Dreaming

Since I recently joined this site, I decided that I would start off with a more interesting dream from yesterday, also known as my fourth ever lucid dream. Let's get started.

      -----

At this time, it was about six days from my last lucid dream. I had been doing WILD for quite some time, as well as a bunch of preparation before sleeping. This night, I jumped into bed and did something a little differently. I started out with WILD, then I went to simply saying in my mind "I am going to lucid dream tonight" about a hundred times over until I finally fell asleep.

      -----
I found myself in a line of soldiers. Not in the modern militaristic sense, but more of a medieval sense. I think that this was because I had been playing Mount & Blade for hours last night and the world almost completely reflected it. There were at least eighteen men in the line, counting me. I could see a man on a donkey riding in front of me, holding a shortsword in his right arm. It's hard to explain, but he said something like "It's time to punish those dogs!" to all of us. We instinctively cheered in response and I teleported onto a brown horse while wearing a helmet. A soldier on foot walked up to me and said "Your sword is not right!" or something. At this time, I looked down at my sword when suddenly I obtained lucidity. I did a quick reality check and sure enough, I was completely lucid. I looked up to see that the sky looked more painted than realistic, and that the battlefield looked like its grass was from Mount & Blade. I decided to have some fun and kill my fellow soldiers, so I leaped off my donkey with my sword facing down as it landed right in the chest of my brother-in-arms. It seemed so real that even the blood was realistic as it dirtied my sword. I even felt a bit of remorse for the fake soldier. I checked his face and decided that he also looked like he was from the video game. I saw another soldier mounted up and I pointed my sword toward him. I'm not quite sure how I did it, but I managed to knock him off the side of his donkey with some sort of shockwave. He landed right on his head and his helmet rolled off. Unfortunately, I lost all lucidity after that as a bunch of flying imp-things wielding flaming spoons flew over me, swooped down, and tried to beat me to death with them. I must say, this was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. It was definitely the most vivid and enjoyable dream to date and I got to have some fun with mindless violence.

      -"Bedworms"-

I was in some sort of orphanage or foster home for some reason. There were various and strange creatures all around this home, varying from the strange to the perfectly sane, though they all had many different features to them. This one, a sort of red looking imp creature, was playing a game called "Bedworms", where when he'd wake you up, and if you were to move somewhat rapidly when you woke up, he'd then proceed to pull up your shirt if you had one on and spread peanut butter all over your belly. I for one, caught on to this little game and would only pretend to sleep when told to. When I was awoken, being in the same room as my brother, I didn't make a single move, and the imp said "Nice job. Here's your reward." and gave me a phone with a hot babe in a bikini on it, though she would suddenly appear in the same bed as me and would say in a quite seductive tone "Don't mind me if I just sleep over here, 'kay~?" and I nodded and gave a small chuckle in return, being as suave as I was. My brother on the other hand got the peanut butter, but went back to bed with it, but he also had an addiction to aspirin. I pretended to go back to sleep, the girl's feet rubbing against mine. I picked up the phone, she had texted me asking to "See a picture of my ass". I turned off the phone, she started crying and she was gone. I proceeded to pretend to sleep. My brother woke up fine this time, and so did I. So, the imp came over to me and hopped onto my bed, saying "Well, you're doing pretty good. Grandma's bed is bad to sleep on." I didn't know who grandma was, nor did I care to know, but he then resumed "Wanna sleep on grandma's bed?" I shook my head and chuckled. That was the end.

      Recruitment (DILD)
      ★★★★☆
      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

      What a mess. . .

Overturned shipping crates and semi-trailers lay strewn about my dishevelled court. Patches of barely-living, pale-green grass permeate the dead, yellow lawns. Every house sits in disrepair, some are even missing, replaced by strange, red statues and rocks.

A large, armored eighteen-wheeler pulls into the court. It stops, suddenly. Waiting.

Somehow, I understand I need to clear a path for this thing. Sighing at the inconvenience, I use TK to lift the first shipping crate out of the way without difficulty. The truck moves forward, and I use another bit of TK to remove the remaining trailer from the road.

Interesting that I can do that so easily, I catch myself thinking, Oh, right. Must be dreaming.

With my newfound lucidity, I finally take notice of all the red in this scene, and, to my left, there’s a statue that catches my interest. It’s that little imp fellow from a previous dream, and the statue is located exactly where that school used to be. Disgusted with myself more than anything else, I pull from an FPS archetype, toss some C4 onto it, and hit the detonator, leaving only a smoldering stump of a neck where the statue’s head used to be.

Slightly pleased with myself, my mood sours as I’m approached by a weaselly man in a nice grey suit. He starts pestering me with questions and hurried pleasantries; his nasally voice and unplaceable drawl grate at my nerve. I try to walk away, but he follows me as I move towards the old back-woods.

”Tell me,” he insists, struggling to get each word across, “Have you ever experienced. . . recruitment?”

The word choice makes me roll my eyes, as I respond with an indignant question: ”You tell me.”

Of course, he ignores my inquiry, going on to talk about what a great opportunity this is for me, and other nonsense I try to tune out; I’m not at all interested in playing along. . .

      Damned sheep.

Note: I later learned the two sheep I had heard “baa”-ing behind my house all day long were, in fact, go-karts or something.

    4. 07/29/10 The Heart Flower

by , 08-01-2010 at 04:26 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
Note: My first goal for this night was to look for Asuka. MoSh said he is worried about the situation due to not having seen her in the past few dreams, so I agreed to help locate her and see if there was something wrong. With this in mind I fell asleep and slipped into a WILD.

As my WILD began I found myself in the same familiar location in MoSh's inner world. I didn't have to wait very long, MoSh came right out of the house and came over to me, clearly in a hurry to get moving. He came over to me and looked like he was surprised that I had not yet opened the portal, we most certainly had to get moving before… well before what? I had no idea what he thought would happen if we didn't depart immediately, but I went ahead and opened a portal while focusing on locating Asuka wherever she may be. MoSh followed me through the portal.

MoSh and I emerged into a beautiful place, flowers growing everywhere, a sparkling stream flowing through tall green grass, the path we were on led to a small bridge over the stream… it was all beautiful. I wondered where Asuka might be, although it definitely looked like the kind of place we might find her. After scanning the area for signs of her energy, I led MoSh across the small bridge and into an area filled with particularly beautiful flower. Asuka was at the end of the path near a small pool, crawling through the plants and flowers as if looking for something, she was so distracted with her search that she hadn't even noticed we were there. She was looking closely at some strange flowers floating in the pool of water right next to her, staring very intently at the flowers as if she wasn't sure what to do next. She only became aware of us when MoSh spoke to her.

"Asuka?" MoSh said, getting her attention, "What are…" Asuka interrupted, she asked him to please not say anything until… she picked one of the strange flowers off the surface of the water… until he had smelled the flower. MoSh looked rather confused, he asked what the flower was for as Asuka came over and held it out to him. She said it was a heart flower, a blue lotus flower with a heart in the center, and whoever smelled the flower would only be able to express their true feelings. She said if MoSh could smell the flower and still wanted her to go… she looked like she might cry, but she went on and said she was sure he would not be able to say such things if he smelled the flower first. So if he really meant what he had… MoSh interrupted now, saying he hadn't said she should go, she had decided that all by herself, after the lucid dream they had shared together, she had just gone silent and he hadn't seen her since. Asuka looked momentarily confused, then said no, he had called her a whore and said he wanted her to go… Something wasn't right there, I was wondering what was going on. Maybe the best thing to do would be to see exactly what had happened. The first thing I thought about was viewing the dream, so I summoned my laptop and activated. I dialed the dream up, hoping I wouldn't see too much of the actual action of the dream.

      Asuka's View
The hologram now had me in the dark of MoSh's and Asuka's bedroom, I really felt like I was intruding here, but I wanted to know what had happened that Asuka's report of events was so different from MoSh's. I peeked up at the bed cautiously, I wanted to be sure there was nothing going on there anymore, and the two of them were just lying there. MoSh was facing the other direction, Asuka was facing him, and though it was pretty much impossible to see, there was a shadow between the two of them… was that the problem? Most likely. A voice seemed to come from MoSh, it sounded like MoSh's voice, but it didn't sound like something MoSh would say… he told Asuka that had been so disappointing, he told her if he had known that was all he would get he wouldn't have bothered rescuing her all the time… Asuka just had a shocked look on her face, she said that wasn't funny if he thought he was joking. He (or the shadow) said he wasn't joking, and then added that Asuka had been nothing but a disappointment since day one, she had brought him nothing but trouble, so she should get the fuck out of his house, she was no longer welcome there. Asuka touched MoSh on his shoulder, MoSh responded with, "I know you're stupid… but don't tell me you're too stupid to know what it means when I tell you to get the fuck out!"

It looked like Asuka was crying, but she said to herself that there must be something wrong, someone had done something to him… she went to Data, who was in the other room, she said something was wrong with MoSh, but she couldn't see what, he had to help… So Data followed Asuka back to the room and did a scan of MoSh. The shadow thing was gone, so there was nothing there for him to see. I also took the opportunity to scan MoSh, but there was no sign of infection or anything. Asuka went and used what looked like a laptop and contacted Q, asking him to take a look at MoSh and see if he could find anything wrong. Q also took a look at MoSh but he was unable to find anything wrong. She used the laptop and now contacted Basara, she wanted him to check MoSh, but MoSh agreed with Q, she asked Basara where I was. Basara said I was out dreaming somewhere, but he didn't know where, but I would surely be back soon. Asuka looked in on MoSh one more time, only to find the bed was empty, apparently MoSh had woken up. She turned away from the bedroom and walked down the hall looking very sad, but then she seemed to get an idea. She opened a portal and went through it immediately. I followed her through the portal thought I wouldn't have had to since the dream shifted right away to the new location.

The rest of the hologram projections on Asuka involved her searching through a lush and beautiful garden near the edge of a pond, heading into a rather dreary swamp also near the edge of the water, up to the top of a mountain right near a natural spring that was flowing strong and clear. By now she seemed to be getting frustrated and discouraged, I wondered what she was looking for, but for now she sat down in the middle of a patch of flowers and cried… but not for long, she soon got up and was off again, deep in the woods there was a cave with a clear stream flowing out of it into a sparkling pool. She was looking near the water's edge once again, and looked disappointed and frustrated again when she apparently didn't find what she was looking for. The next stop she made was the place MoSh and I ended up finding her, in the garden where she had found the strange flowers. The hologram ended before MoSh and I appeared.

MoSh said that was not what had happened, he said that Asuka had gone silent, and had refused to speak to him, and then when she had disappeared… Q appeared in front of us, he was holding a strange wiggling little imp like creature by the scruff of its neck. The thing was wiggling and hissing and squirming, cursing and spitting… Q said this annoying little thing had been creating illusions, a little troublemaker with no energy to speak of… MoSh wanted to know how it had gotten inside his inner world, why had it been screwing around in there… the thing was hissing and spitting expletives, hissing something about the entire idea of love being nothing more than a farce, all methods of manipulation, all lies, so those fools might as well find that out now, because anyone who falls for the tripe that is love is only mmmph mmmph mmmph mmmph… Q had covered the little thing's mouth, it bit him… MoSh wanted to rip the thing's head off… Q said he had some use for such a creature, or thought he might, then the two of them disappeared…

    5. Sewing Machines, Watery Platforms, MUDs

      by , 06-12-2008 at 02:59 AM
      (original post dated 06/11/2008):

Dreamed that my aunt S was using my sewing machine to knit with, somehow. I wanted to remove the yarn in order to do some sewing, but didn't know if she was done with it yet, and my cousin Jenny wasn't much help because she didn't know. I had gotten a new pair of pants that, at first, looked really cool, but they were falling apart and had holes in them, which I had not realized when I bought them - hence the need to sew them up. Once I put them on, I was chagrined to discover that they were actually tacky snow-pants with a bright orange camouflage pattern on them.

Then, I was an imp cleaning up someone's house. And then, for some reason, we were also putting on this show, where we jumped from a platform into a lake below us, and I was an imp but also myself. Something about my swimsuit, I don't remember. I was debating a graceful dive vs. a back-flop (more in character for an imp) when the platform abruptly descended. The guy working it was asian and looked familiar but I couldn't make out who he was, and suddenly I was underwater and swimming back up to the platform before it ascended again.

Then I was playing a text-based MUD, and was debating whether to be a Paladin or a Monk, and decided to be a Paladin but specialize in unarmed combat and fist-weapons.
    6. The Electric Imp

      by , 09-05-1982 at 03:05 PM
Morning of September 5, 1982. Sunday.

There is some sort of creature or imp that lives in a cupboard under the kitchen sink at my brother Earl’s house in Florida (though he had not lived there for several years in reality), though which later seems to be in Wisconsin at a motel. My dream and the offset sequence seems to take place in late morning.

The creature, which is apparently made of electricity, projects small bolts of lightning up through the drain somehow (as if the pipe is not there and the creature is directly under where the water would flow). However, I am never directly threatened by the imp and the lightning seems mostly inconsequential. I visualize the imp as probably only being about a foot tall.

At one point, he sounds like a human talking, but with a sort of hollow or metallic sound. It seems that Earl will be unlikely to live in the apartment anymore until the “electric imp” is gone. I do not see this imp at any point, only the smaller patterns of lightning coming out of the drain now and then. Although the imp may be talking to me (though I do not focus on what it is saying), I do not speak at any point in this dream or the following offset segment.

In an offset dream, though still part of the same sequence (without waking), I find myself in an unknown parking lot (though is possibly near Shopko on the north side of La Crosse). I see Earl sitting in the back seat of an unknown car, on the right-hand side. His face seems distorted, without the potential for it to be a real human face (which my dream self finds inconsequentially puzzling). Still, he reminds me of a handicapped male in a television commercial from years ago, who said, “I’m a little tired. I’m alright though,” when emerging from the water of a large indoor swimming pool.

The last scene is a transmuted water lowering waking symbol (subliminally associated with someone emerging from water as analogous to leaving the dream state), even though the electric imp was already a factor of water lowering waking symbolism. A parking lot is also a common waking space symbol for me, though typically the second-from-last dream of the sleeping period (as this was) while a porch is typically the final waking symbolism setting of a sleeping period.

    7. The Imp

      by , 09-09-1977 at 06:33 PM
Morning of September 9, 1977. Friday.

In my dream, I spend most of my time in my backyard in Cubitis where the bonfires are usually set. I find an undamaged jewelry box in the ashes which does not seem familiar (and is not familiar in reality in conscious reflection). (There is a very vague association with “Pandora’s Box”, but that concept does not fully materialize in any way.)

After a time, I learn that a small creature lives in the box that could easily sit on my hand, and in fact does so a few times at different points. The creature is white and fuzzy and has two shorter antenna-like knobs rising from his head - somehow reminding me vaguely of the old-style television “rabbit ears” in function (but not so much in appearance).

He does not seem to be a threat, and in fact, seems fairly timid. I believe he may have magical powers but no major events happen. There is, however, a deep sense of peace in my dream. I do feel that perhaps this “pet” will provide things I will need later on in life.

Update (July 16, 2015. Thursday): After extensive basic research and study of various dreams and time periods, I discovered that this creature was probably influenced by seeing “Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space“ back in 1972 - which I did not directly realize at all in 1977 (in fact, in checking and validating this dream’s date and any relevant documentation of the time or missing details, I found that the first episode of the show aired on September 9, 1972 and was titled “Where’s Josie?” - Josie likely being a symbol of my red-haired neighbor girl who had moved); more specifically, the alien character Bleep (Melody’s fluffy pet alien). It always greatly pleases me when I am able to find and validate dream-related origins and influences. This was probably primarily based on nostalgia relating to that time period and having less female company on a regular basis (at home) than before in the months leading up to our move back to Wisconsin.
