    1. The older you are the harder it gets...attaining lucidity of course.

      by , 09-14-2014 at 11:51 AM
Age brings its problems and it's not easy at the moment. I've solved night leg-pains by changing to a memory-foam mattress. (I must be getting like the Princess and the pea.) But I have increasing problems with my known dust allergy...probably made worse at the moment by my redecorating and off-gassing from the new mattress;-

      Off Gassing and Memory Foam

Of course, waking, staying still with eyes closed and grabbing dreams can do without distractions like this so it's going to take me a while to get there (particularly as I decided to slightly apply the brakes this time around) So far, I haven't woken with the deathly "ill" feeling I occasionally had last time around so that's probably a good strategy.

One dream last night, plus one lost because I was coughing and spluttering.

      9.00
I'm an athlete (DS = ridiculous) and racing someone up a sharp incline. I'm well ahead and I show off by slowing down and looking around. My nearest competitor nearly catches up and a large man is blocking my way and slows me down even more. I finally only win by the merest touch...and no, I've not being reading the "tortoise and the hare" recently.

I've tried analyzing this dream but with no obvious result yet.

During the day I'm on track...doing ADA etc. I'm also trying visualizing...trying like hell to "see" shapes. If I can only visualize WILD and DEILD may be my way in. I really cannot see "anything" at the moment so I really want to change that.

    2. Goku and weird ritual sacrifice machine

by , 09-14-2014 at 05:17 AM (Adventures in Dreamland)
Last night I finally had a dream where I felt different emotions from the usual snippets of dreams I have been having. I dreamt first of a Tennis court, except on this tennis court was a system of pulleys and hooks, where you would sit somewhere and a machine would turn on and your organs and skin would be systematically ripped apart in some sort of orderly fashion.

In the main dream Goku was fighting with some opponent. I remember he was battling him but he was just too strong. He started to fly away and was asking himself where was Nappa and Vegeta when he needed them. Then he lost his ability to turn super saiyan and fell towards the ocean, he managed to be able to fly again just for a soft landing. then he was floating on the ocean, the color scheme was very grey and cloudy/smoky/misty. The dream goes to the tennis court, Goku said learning about Jesus it wasn't long til he became a Christian (I personally see many similarities between Goku and Jesus, just me maybe). Says he would have lost the fight anyways and that he was going to put himself on the tennis court machine.

I go into the tennis court and there is a giant crowd there. There are two people playing some weird tennis game right outside the gate to the tennis court. I walk inside and instead of the hook sacrifice machine there is a big crowd of people watching a movie in the tennis court. This dream seems a little spooky now that I mention it.
    3. The Possessed Children

by , 09-14-2014 at 03:16 AM (The Dream Magic Experiment)
      9:53 a.m.

I was in some sort of town or place. It's starting to get overrun by gangsters made up of mainly teenagers and some even prepubescent boys. I was walking along the street when I saw one group. They were fighting. It's a mix of adults and young boys, but the latter made up most of the group. I either "tiptoe" all around the place while they fight (they seem to ignore me) or I run away at the sight of them. The latter became more common after a while. There are afternoon and night times.

At some point, I tried hiding in dorm houses (or just plain houses) only to find that some were already there or some were looking for people with keys to dorm houses so they can get inside. It started getting "scarier" at that point. The kids are no longer just gangster kids. They were possessed. The more they "kill" or do something with, the more they spread out. Like a virus. Almost like a zombie movie, except that they seem conscious. Maybe a Las Plagas zombie.

Some people are starting to move to the "next town", and I joined in the exodus. But along the way, we encounter death and destruction caused by the possessed. It was very much like a zombie apocalypse, with ruined buildings and deserted cities.

Somehow, I and the group I was with, ended up in a hotel-like place. I saw some horrific scents where a person is... I'm not sure how to describe it, but some horror/thriller games show it pretty well... a living person "nailed" by a huge nail to a humanoid monstrosity through her private part, people ripped apart by possessed humans, and all of this within the confines of probably someplace that looks like Amnesia or Silent Hill buildings, with a bloody hospital-like setting. Or a dirty morgue. At some parts, I was avoiding them, while at other parts, I was kind of jumping around (tiptoeing?) around the creatures. Also, that human nailed to the monster was the girlfriend of one of our companions. I have the idea that we were slowly getting killed as we traverse the area but I don't really recall.

At one point, I discovered the "nest" of the main possessed being (or maybe just a really strong monster). I was alone then. The being was "sleeping" in a room filled with clothing or sheets. It was under those sheets so I couldn't see it but I knew it was there and I could hear it breathing. I decided that what safer place to be in than the room of the big monster? No smaller monster will try to harass the thing, and me as well.

The view shifted somehow and I was with other in a room with... stuff. Not a room, I guess, but more of a warehouse. We found the "egg" that started the horror. But somebody (me?) cracked it accidentally and will now attempt to spread the horror (maybe this was the first part?). The guy who was raped by a demon (I think) and produced that egg lamented that it shouldn't be allowed to "wake up".

      NOTES:

      - slept at around 5 a.m.
      - I felt more of a lack of breath while jumping around but not much of horror.
      - I was reading some true-story thrillers before sleeping.
      - I took out my keys while in the elevator and corridor and worried someone might duplicate them somehow and invade our place.
      - I saw the salty egg in the kitchen earlier and wondered if it's still good.
      - This would be interesting to interpret.
      - I seem to have tried doing parkour moves somewhere in the dream, but I could remember clearly.
    4. Canyon to Garage OST + MILD

by , 09-14-2014 at 02:10 AM (Inner World حلم Gamma Waves)
My Father , brother and I were climbing on these huge statues and going all the way up in till we reach the end. I was telling me Father that the shape on top of the statue had a name that I couldn't remember. That's when my brother leap to the next statue and it was my turn but I was beginning to trip so my Father went over me lunging at next statue. I begin yelling I can't hold on as I fall all the way down and hit the floor in my living room. My Father ask me if I was alright however I struggle to speak or get up. My brother says I shouldn't be hurt or unable to move. The blow wasn't as strong as it should be but I felt like I hit my head little hard during it but eventually I manage to get up. That's when the scenery change where I woke up in my Father room and saw this red hair woman telling me to follow her to some type of canyon outside. I left the house and was amaze how orange and soft the ground was. I begin lying on it while looking at the clear blue sky telling her this is a incredible place. However she told me it was time to go as someone was after the both of us so I started running till the scene change again to where I appear in the living opening my Father door again. I find my brother sitting in a middle of the corner wearing a lot of blue technology on his head. I seem to have gotten this misguided feeling so I grab my brother in a funny manner saying it was him who trick me. We both begin laughing but the scene change again to where I had just close my Father door. I begin walking in to the living room and felt the need to enter inside the garage. Once I did I see my Mother and the television playing I ask her which episode was playing but she ignored me and went back in the living room. I look at the television as it switch to a gaming channel and could tell something was wrong. The character in the game was very off and wasn't playing like it would in real life. That's when the television screen shatter in my face as I begin to become lucid the dream fades out leaving me in to this greenish blue fog in till I woke up 3 seconds later. Lucidity Time 3 seconds

    5. Virtual Reality

      Hyu
      , 09-14-2014 at 02:02 AM (Hyu's Adventures)
I'm working on the prototype for a video game I intend to create with a good friend of mine.
The game will require fast AI pathfinding over dynamic terrain for a large amount ( >1000 ) of enemies.
My current navmesh/A* approach is working fine, but I'm a little worried that it's not going to scale well if we want to add even more enemies.
I remember that one of my friends did her masters thesis on swarm AI,
so I decide to call her on Skype to get her opinion on my situation.
Unfortunately I'm having trouble navigating my contact list.
The names don't seem to be sorted alphabetically...

I hear the door bell go off, so I go downstairs to check who's at the door.
A man in his early 20's offers me a package addressed to "Hyu".
Huh? Did I order anything using my nickname? Why would I do that?
I accept the package and the man just leaves without asking me to sign anything.
      What the hell?

I go back upstairs and open the package.
OH MY GOD. It's the Oculus DK2 I ordered!

      I am so excited!
I unpack everything as quickly as I can, tossing the empty package into a corner of my room.

Once I've plugged everything in I notice that my computer is now running Elite: Dangerous.
That's not right, I was working with Unity3D before...
      hmm....
I try to increase my awareness, going through the last few minutes in my mind.

      Yup, I'm definitely dreaming.

I'm so disappointed. I got all excited for nothing.
Then again... I wonder what happens if I...
I sit down and hold the device in front of my eyes, trying to see if the displays in it are showing anything.
The device just straight up vanishes from my hands as soon as the screens cover my entire field of view.
I'm left completely immersed in the game, sitting inside the cockpit of a Sidewinder, which is the ship you start out in in the game.
Huh, that's kind of a neat trick.

      Also I'm in a spaceship. Did I mention I'm in a spaceship?
I'm super excited and get going immediately.

Fortunately the controls are identical to the joystick setup I use in waking life, so I have no trouble maneuvering the ship.
I use the lateral thrusters to lift off and to get to the center of the station.
The moment I let go I immediately feel the weightlessness, which makes me feel a little sick initially,
      but the feeling quickly subsides.

As I maneuver out of the station, I notice for the first time how tight the entrance actually is.
You don't really get a sense for it on a computer screen.

Unfortunately I don't really remember much else.
I faintly remember feeling the heat of a sun radiating into my cockpit as I dropped out of frameshift, but that's about it.

The experience got me thinking about how virtual reality is going to affect dreams though.
I wonder if it'll make it easier to incubate dreams about video games.
I imagine it could also make such dreams more immersive.
Usually when I have video game dreams, it feels like I'm merely an observer.
I'm not really in the dream, it's more like I'm viewing it on a monitor that happens to cover my entire field of view.
Perhaps this is going to change with regular usage of VR.
    6. 13/09/2014 More videogame stuff

      by , 09-14-2014 at 12:31 AM
      - I find myself in some kind of complex, it is dark and i know i have to be stealthy. It feels like a movie or videogame since i keep shifting between first and third person view. I go to the upper floors to carry on my mission and after that i try to escape.
      - Another third person view, i follow a woman as she runs on the middle of the street. Looks like the route i used for high school. It is nightime and i can't remember details.
      - I'm in a well-lit room playing videogames. A friend comes in and out of the room as i'm playing. First is a fighting game and then i'm playing a japanese styled one, it features traditional characters in a village and in some point my perspective shifts to an observing character.
