    1. ccxii. Pre-sleep encounter with Data at the Dream Bridge

      by , 01-17-2021 at 11:59 AM
      17th January 2021

In bed, at about 3 AM whilst trying to fall asleep. During the whole thing I noticed my heart rate was higher than it would normally be at rest. Dialogue as close to original as I can recall and notes are in-line and unbracketed.

Not a dream and conscious with my eyes closed:

I start to think about wanting to be lucid and then wanting to look for the black lizard.

I hear the voice of Data and find myself seeing I'm on the bridge of the Enterprise, the one that's his contemporary. It's a bit clear at first visually. I have encountered Data other times in my head recently. For some reason he seems to encourage my conscious control and mastery of the sub-conscious and wishes to serve me.

Data: "Hello, may I call you captain?"

      Me: "Hello. Yes, you may."

Data: "Will you accompany me to the turbolift sir?"

      Me: "Yes, why?"

I find my own voice comes out naturally as if it was Picard's; I eventually try to alter this but with little success. Whenever Data speaks, half of it feels like it's being controlled by me, resulting in strange dialogue, but otherwise it feels detached from my ego.

Data: "I'd like to show you to the bridge; the battle bridge; no, the dream bridge."

      Me: "The dream bridge?"

The visuals are muddy and too much like as seen in the show for my liking and I try to taste the walls, I try to feel where I'm walking and touching the railings and so on. It doesn't improve the visuals, but there is a feel of being in the place. We get on the turbolift and then find ourselves on a similar version of the bridge we were just in but it has a different feel. I see the large screen and the unmanned bridge.

Data: "Yes sir. The dream bridge will allow you dream control if you so desire."

      Me: "How does it work?"

Data: "It allows you to scroll; view, pre-view, select, choose and so on. As in your childhood sir, it works the same way."

I understand what Data is referring to as being my pre-sleep lucid experiences from when I was much younger but this is somewhat different, more elaborate. I have an intuitive feel of how it's going to work but don't fully understand and the unclear visuals make it difficult to manipulate anything. I sit on a version of the captain's chair on this bridge. I feel the chair, just. There is some kind of controllable trackball I instinctively conjure on the right arm of the chair. I try to use and feel it for scrolling.

Me: "If I have any further questions, I will call on you, that will do for now. Goodbye Mr. Data."

Data says goodbye politely and I lose awareness of his presence as if he is completely gone. I try and use what's available to try to look through potential dreams. It doesn't work very well or as I expect. But one scene does pre-view better on the large screen, a M/M themed scene that plays itself out. But from there I don't know how to progress. I try to visualise more but it doesn't really work and visuals in general remained poor or unclear.

The rest of the dialogue recall is too vague now, and I recall calling out to Data a couple of times and he would appear every single time I called him, and disappear whenever we said goodbye to each other. The computer would talk to me as well if I started a sentence by saying "Computer," but for the most part it was useless, probably because of how in the show I perceive the ship's computer as having no intelligence, a feature that Data, even as a character in my head, exhibits very well.

I have found the experience to be somewhat odd; although a lizard character has tried to (aggressively) promote my ego's control and confidence, Data as a character is seemingly trying to promote control and mastery but in a very loose and passive way, allowing me to explore at my own pace for the most part and actively trying to teach me things. I think what has surprised me is the fact that these characters are not at the ego level but they are promoting it and basically siding with the ego.

Data seemingly has loyalty for me as he would indeed for the captain on the Enterprise. For a couple of nights now I have thought about trying to remember what those pre-sleep experiences from my childhood felt like, so this whole thing has felt like a following of that and the theme may be because we've been watching the show again, although this was unexpected.

The rest of the recall is lost but I was awake for a while longer after this.
    2. has anyone else experienced something like this?

I usually don't remember much about my dreams. However sometimes I will have dreamtime experiences that follow me into waking time - one a few years ago where I was in the woods watching a fire ceremony of sorts with this wild music, and as I woke up I could still hear the music. Another one I had what can only be described as electricity coursing through me and I was paralyzed but fully awake while trying to fall back to sleep. In that one I also had the face of a man/lion present itself and move to the crazy beating of my heart. That one I was totally awake for. This morning I reached a point in a dream where I sat down on the floor against a wall in a white room and gave some sort of permission for some sort of energy to merge with mine. I could feel the pressure from it - it was immense - and I remember thinking "I can still breathe so it is still OK". Then it became so intense I woke up from it and still felt it in what I believe was a totally conscious state. I didn't try to move until it left. I could feel it leave - Pressure left my torso first, and the feeling was similar to having a limb fall asleep in my lower legs, ankles and feet. It left more slowly there. Has anyone else had this happen? In my dream I allowed it, I welcomed it, I didn't fear it. But I have no idea why or what it was.
    3. "WILD" within a Dream

      (False) WILD within a Dream:

I wish I remembered details better on this one. I do remember that I was involved with doing something within the dream. Then suddenly I started seeing the ocean. It didn't go with what was happening in the rest of the dream. My dream self suddenly "realized" that I just had a successful WILD. I felt so proud of myself. I decided I wanted to get closer to the ocean. Instead of flying like I usually do, I just pulled the ocean scene closer to where I was standing. I could see the setting sun gleam off the water and boats in the harbor. I remember just thinking about how beautiful it was and how real it looked.

I also remember that I was conscious of my "physical body". I was very sure that my physical body was standing in the real world. I could feel my arms hanging at my sides. I thought it was really cool that my mind could be seeing something completely different from my real body. I continued to stare at the ocean scene in front of me. I then carefully lifted what I thought were my real arms. I placed my hands over my eyes. I could see a faint shadow of my hands which darkened the ocean scene. I thought it was fascinating how I could be conscious in two places at once, and how I could be moving my real body yet not really seeing it because my mind was in a dream.

Then I "woke up" and went back to my original dream.

This kind of dream has happened to be several times before where I feel like I have entered a dream, yet I still am very aware of what I think is my real body. Yet the whole thing is all in my head.
    4. Full Out of Body Experience

This dream started out in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven where I was hanging out with a group of kids I had gone to high school with. They weren’t specific people; all I knew is they were part of my high school “group” so to speak. It was evening and we were hanging out when someone had the bright idea to go check out an abandoned building across town (which in the dream was Burbank, California). For some reason it sounded like a good idea, so we all hopped in a car and drove away.

After a 10 minute drive we arrived at the most ominous, dilapidated warehouse I had ever seen. I went in and walked up to the second floor only to realized that the group of people I had been with had vanished completely and that sunlight was spilling in through the dirty glass windows. “That’s strange,” I thought, “It was definitely just nighttime a second ago.”

All of a sudden a feeling of anxiety and fear overwhelmed me. I could sense a bad presence in the building. Water that had been spread out in a thin layer over the floor seized up into thousands of stubby stalagmites jutting from the ground. They weren’t frozen in terms of temperature but frozen in terms of time. I thought: “This is stupid, why am I so scared? After all, this is MY dream... This is my dream.”

Up until this point I was convinced that these events were actually happening because the dreamworld was so detailed and vivid. It looked and felt EXACTLY like real life. But now I understood! No wonder this dreamscape was so finely crafted and detailed, because I was fully conscious inside of it! In a normal dream experience, It’s as if your dream-self is extremely drunk: you’re not quite sure where you are, you can’t really control your actions, and you can only remember bits and pieces of what you were doing. When you’re fully conscious in a dream, you control EVERY action, think just as clearly as you do when you’re awake, and can observe and appreciate all aspects of the highly detailed environment your subconscious creates for you. It’s essentially being “awake” in your dreams, and that’s exactly what I was.

So immediately I teleported to get out of the abandoned building and ended up materializing in front of the recording studio where I work. I walked in to see my bosses and coworkers laughing and having a good time. I said hi to them and made some idle chat before leaving. I had a dream to go enjoy and I wasn’t going to spend it at work!

It was a beautiful sunny day in Burbank California as I walked down the street, enjoying the slight breeze and feeling the warm sun on my skin. I was still in shock and awe over how realistic and detailed this whole experience was. I walked for a good two blocks just relaxing and then the sky started to slowly oscillate between blue and green. I thought it looked neat so I decided to leave it be.

After I got tired of walking I figured it’d be fun to try and fly, but as I launched off the ground the dream started to get fuzzy and destabilize. I knew I was starting to wake up so I concentrated as hard as I could to try and hold on to the dream, which worked. I was back on the ground on Burbank Blvd where I had taken off.

I took off again, this time with much better results. I flew over Burbank and off through the mountains and eventually into a wide lush valley with a river running through it. Along the river banks were massive structures; huge orbs at least twice the Empire State Building in diameter. At their tops were patches of green lush trees with springs gushing out and down their sides and into the river. I flew around these for a while until the dream started to fade again!

After propelling myself back into the dream a second time, I thought my dream destabilization might have something to do with the abandoned building I had visited earlier. I teleported there to a room on the upper floor. This time it was an abandoned farmhouse rather than a warehouse, but regardless of the building it was the same location.

A figure came into the doorway. It was a little boy with deathly pale skin, dark hair, and blank piercing eyes that stared viciously. He looked like a male version of the girl from “The Grudge”. It had to be the source of whatever fear or anxiety was troubling me earlier. I didn’t even give him a second thought and immediately disintegrated him and erased him from the dream. Quit killin’ my vibe fool!

I then decided it was time to fly again, so I passed through the window and started to take off. For a brief moment I got stuck under the awning of a porch, but fortunately I braced my legs against the side of the house and pushed off as hard as I could, breaking through the wooden planks that were holding me in. I flew around what looked like the American Pacific Northwest for a while, enjoying the fresh air and the wide open spaces. Eventually, I decided it was time to wake up and took a dive bomb. It felt like I had a “crash landing” back into my body as I felt my consciousness slam back into it at what felt like mach 10. This woke me up with quite a jolt and immediately I opened up the laptop and typed the whole thing out. It was hands down my coolest dream experience to date. 100% awake and 100% cognizant while being 100% disconnected from my physical body.
