      Plastic? Really? (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

My weapon was complete. An M9 Combination Pistol-Laser Gun bound to a Derringer with much the same function. It was time to leave our safe-hold and venture across the woodland to a new home. As soon as the large metal blast doors open, we run for it.

I'm barely keeping up with my ragtag group of survivors, as we do our best to stay out of sight of the larger predators, like that T-Rex over there. Unfortunately, the raptors spot us. Running for our lives, we open fire on the raptor pack as we dart around trees and jump over deep trenches. I unload an entire clip into the heads of two of them, bringing them down. Then we hear it. . .

"Shit!" our leader shouts over the blood curdling screech, "Mecha Raptor on our six!"

But it's already on top of us. To specific, it's on top of me. I shove my gun into its metal mouth as it tries to chomp on my head. I let off some rounds, but it's not having any effect. It opens it jaws and tries again, but I jam my gun in again, this time using the high powered laser beam. The laser quickly melts through the plastic insides of the green Mecha Raptor's throat. It dies on top of me, spilling the hot molten plastic onto my stomach, painfully scalding me. My group works together to push it off me, and soon enough we're on the move again. . .

VRRRRRRMMMM--VVVRRRRRRR! My father and I were speeding home after just narrowly escaping from a zombie filled corporate building. "Something's not right." He says, as we screech around a corner.

      "What's wrong?" I ask.

"I don't know, the controls are all weird. Bleh! Hold on!" He guns the sleek black car down the straightaway to our house and whips the back around. His expert driving parks us right in front of our neighbor's mailbox in a flurry of smoke and burning rubber. He gets out of the car hurriedly and goes inside their house. Out of nowhere, a friend of mine jumps into the driver seat and turns the engine back on.

"The hell are you doing?!" I exclaim in protest.

"What's it look like I'm doing?" She rolls her eyes at me and takes the car back out into the main street outside my court. "Huh, that's weird." She is all over the road and seems to have absolutely no control over the car.

Frustrated, I shout at her "Get out of the way!" moving her to the side I take the wheel. To my surprise, the turning was, indeed, quite f-ed up. Spinning the wheel in any given direction would cause the car to drift off to the opposite side. It only takes me a moment to get the hang of it, though, and before we know it I've maneuvered my way back into the previous parking position. I get out of the car and look up to the smoky orange sky. What I see only confirms my fears. It's the end of the world.

Large clusters of missiles and bombs are being shot high into the sky and scattered all around the area. I turn toward the house and see my dad motioning for me to hurry my ass inside. I don't hesitate for a moment. Leaving my friend behind, I rush inside the house only to have one of the falling pieces of ordinance crash through the roof and violently pass through my leg. Surprisingly, I feel no pain. My dad takes one look at the small brown and red blinking object on the floor and his eyes go wide. "Quick! Downstairs now!"

As we close the door behind us an explosion rocks the house. My father pulls out a shotgun and explains we would have to hold out here for the time being. I understand completely.

Time lapses, and it turns out the world had been taken over by sentient robots. I'm watching a scene where two of them, who look exactly like me (apparently the thing that passed through my leg collected a DNA sample), discuss breaking into our stronghold. They conclude that if they both go they would lose only one robot life in exchange for the two humans residing below. "Acceptable losses," they called it.

Meanwhile, the rest of the invasion force is searching for the last hope humanity has for survival: The Avatar (think more 'last airbender' not the popular movie). Long story short, they find her, and end her life in a most spectacular fashion. All hope is officially lost. . .
    3. Samurai Jack and Kalima

by , 01-18-2010 at 06:00 AM (Visions in the Dark)
I cannot remember the first part of the dream but there is an image of being near a water front and my dream character Kalima walking with a group of people (her servants, as she is a princess disguised as a commoner) past a dock where people are fishing off of and swimming around. Kalima and her group crest a sand dune and come across some of Aku's robots about to attack the people at the beach. Kalima's group starts to try and fight the robots but are not doing well when Samurai Jack appears and deftly defeats the attacking machines.

Jack is then invited by members of Kalima's group to join them for dinner and they go to a building that looks like a palace on the outside but looks like a mall on the inside. Kalima walks behind the group and lingers in an area that has books and sofas and children's toys for a momemt. Jack comes back to find her and they follow the group into a room decorated in the traditional Japanese style with three bamboo tables that are easily assembled on the spot. Jack sits down with the men at the middle table while Kalima and the women sit down at the table to the left. The table on the right, which is close to the entrance of the room, has no one seated at it so the food can be placed upon it.

Jack and Kalima catch each other's eyes several times but each looks away shyly. There are presents in one corner of the room as it is one of the servant's birthday. There is a part where the far wall opens to reveal a grocery store or warehouse or something but other than that I cannot remember any more of this dream.
    4. Invading Robots

by , 08-30-2008 at 05:00 AM (Visions in the Dark)
I can only remember this dream in fragments.

      - A male co-worker and I are running around a warhouse complex trying to avoid being seen. The ocean side city we are in has been invaded by large transforming robots and most of the people who live their have been killed or have fled.

      - a robot shaped like a white stretch hummer hunts me, but I do not know why, though it is continualy foiled by a robot shaped like a red transport truck cab. I can usually escape because the two giant machines are too busy fighting each other.

      - I try to get the attention of a group of police officers or evacuation officials but ay first they do not see me. When they finally do they make a big ruckus and attract the attention of some jet shaped robots who then annihilate the officers. I go back into hiding.

      - a female friend of mine has replaced the male co-worker but she runs around in a panic and is almost captured several times.

      - group of surviviors or people left behind in the city gather underneath a bridge and plot against the invading robots. At some point it is determined that I have gained telekenetic powers (and that is what the white hummer is after me for) and it is decided that it is up to me to defend what left of the city people from invaders.

      - The group of survivors lay low for a while and most of the invading robots leave the city, with only a few patrolling overhead as aircraft every now and then.

      - At a nearby beach a group of fellow human survivors have banded together and formed a milita. Their clothing and weapons are of a mixture of thai and mongol influence. They decide to march on what is left of our city with the intention of taking over. Despite their dispay of bravado I make short work of them with my psychic powers and lift the soldiers and their large banners into the air like toys. They wisely retreat.

      - I feel bad about hurting some of the sodiers and send them peace offerings and they join us in our struggle against the robotic oppressors but I cannot remember if they agreed before the dream ended.
    5. UFO and Robot Girls on “Lost” (full meaning given)

      by , 09-20-2007 at 03:20 PM
Morning of September 20, 2007. Thursday.

This entry contains two of several dreams of this date.

My most recent “Lost” dream has something to do with robots, mostly all female scientist robots. There is one scene where one is working in a lab, but does not have a human face, only a curved sheet of metal. Others do not even have that, but do have a “head” of sorts. There are some unusual encounters where I mostly interact with a couple female robots at a time, mostly touching “hands”, perhaps testing the sensors, yet they do not have any skin, either; all the working parts are mostly showing and turning about, similar to a skeleton with bits of wire and small gears here and there - yet somehow, there actually seems to be some sort of potential for these robots to have human feelings (both emotional and tactile).

Another dream involved an idea of an ancient spacecraft being buried somewhere and a man hunting for it in relation to a symbol. The appearance of the spacecraft supposedly has something to do with the apocalypse (which primarily foreshadows the end of the dream and little else). He had seen it before and had drawn a picture of it. Another man joins him in looking for it in the area which it has been determined to be. This is a hill (common emergent consciousness feature) near a small town. The spaceship rises from the ground while the men are standing in an area nearby. It is very similar in design to an old-style orange juicer. It glows a brilliant white and makes a loud but somehow musical roaring sound. This dream is very vivid and seems to mean something even after I wake for a short time (and of course it does have meaning - that I am waking up). I cannot be sure if it is being flown by beings inside or is some sort of glowing energy that shifts slightly. There is a very intense feeling as it roars off.

My first dream above is simply a rendering of robots in connection to the “artificial” nature of the dream state, that is, as different from reality. It is similar to a glitched-out apex lucidity dream but this dream is entirely non-lucid.

My second dream here (which is similar to, and with the same meaning as, “Spaceship Stratum” from 1978) is simply an extended waking transition metaphor as most dreams are on one level. A UFO is typically the conscious mind, rendered as a UFO for several reasons; one, the unconscious mind as the dream self is not seeing directly through the conscious self’s eyes so renders it as potentially “alien”, and two, a UFO is usually “above” the unconscious self and so represents “rising” (waking up) conscious awareness (though cleverly here is rendered as being within the unconscious self’s “territory”, that is, buried in the ground at first, which implies cooperation between the dream self and conscious self with no liminal space inherent), and three, emits light and represents waking from the dream state (light of day as metaphorical for waking consciousness), and four, is a flight symbol (main dream state metaphor as dreaming itself is “flying”) leaving the dream.

I can add a three-layered fifth validation here with this particular dream. This UFO looks like an orange juicer. An orange can represent the conscious mind (in reference to associations with the sun - which represents light of day and the conscious mind and wakeful awareness, most especially the “Sunkist” label). Also, when people wake up to have breakfast, they often have orange juice. Since the potential with an orange juicer is to watch liquid getting lower and going down into a glass or other container, we also even have the “water getting lower over time” as the waking mechanism (except that here, it is orange juice).

Or, I could go on and list many other layers and metaphors that validate the above meanings; for example the play on “Sunkist” as in “kissed” relating to Sleeping Beauty being awakened. Or, I could stop here.
